It is a 3 speed, and new ones seem to be all 4 speed. It works very well, and looks very modern. It is expensive. I decided however I actually prefer the “older fashioned” kind with a lever on it to move to the desired speed position. I also like the slower slowest speed available on the 4 speed switches. So this is excellent if it’s what you want, and gets all the stars. My preference for different features is not relevant to the VG performance of this pr.

Works fine. Fits available box space. Cover plate aligns on multi-box installation. Wiring instructions clear for DYI installation. Just what we needed. Paddle switch turns fan on-off to preset speed. Speed selection from small slider on side of paddle rocker. Use on our kitchen fan which almost always is kept on low.

I purchased this switch to control the speed of my ceiling fan in the living room which is 10 feet in the air. I set the fan on high speed, installed the switch, and can now control the fan speed without a ladder or super long pull chain. There is not extra noise or humming. I would recommend this to anyone with a three speed fan.

Pull chains grinding your gears? This switch allows you to control the fan speed without pulling chains. It’s simple; with 3 settings, and adjusts like a Diva dimmer. I have noticed the low setting is slightly slower than the fan’s low speed. It works well through for sleeping as it subtly moves air without the ‘whoosh’. All in all, it’s a great switch and simple to install/use.

The speed control is not intuitive (top s/b high, bottom off). Off is actually somewhere in the middle, with low at the bottom and high at the top. Not certain if this info was to be conveyed in the “manual”, since my box just had the switch inside. I finally noticed that the word “off” was stamped on the heat sink near the center and figured it out. The switch works silently with no hum, but off and medium take some fumbling to engage.

Installation was relatively straightforward, but this item is bulkier than the switch it replaced and it takes a while to reposition the wiring in the two gang box so it all fits. Other than that it allowed me to lower the fan speed below the lowest setting on the fan switch itself. I left the fan switch on the fan housing to medium speed and use the wall switch to set a lower high, medium, and low setting. This allowed me set a very low fan speed while sleeping.

Bought this and 2 more switches from Lutron. All fit and worked great. Had to buy faceplate also. The only problem I had was the wires coming in were all #12. Would have been easier to stuff all that wire with #14. Final results. Great.

Purchased this to use with a Fanimation OF110OB Extraordinaire Caged Ceiling Fan. The fan shipped with a 3-speed wall control that was only wired for a single position, but I needed a controller that would work for a 3-way application, as this fan is controlled from two locations. Unfortunately, after installing it, I learned that this switch only gives me two working speed settings. The rocker toggles power on and off as expected, but the three-position speed control toggles from high speed at the maximum setting, barely turning in the middle setting, and off in the bottom setting. I am still looking for a suitable control which will work with this fan, and allow me to toggle between all three speed settings.
I can’t say the switch itself is a poor product, I’ve used many Lutron switches in the past and they all work great, but this one just does not do the job it was intended for.

The Fan control replaced a previous one in a 3 gang unit box which was swapped out for a better colour match. Initial install on-off test worked but after replacing plate cover the fan control wouldn’t completely stop the fan blade from spinning. I’m not an electrician so it might be caused by a poor connection or some wonderful play of “electromagnetic induction” between the wires. Anyway, in an effort to solve the issue, I re-exposed the wires for the 3 switches in the box, retightened each connection and put it all back together.
Voila! It all works and continues to do so a couple of weeks in. The 3 blade speed levels work for us so everyone’s happy! Unit was pricy at $45 with taxes in so the high cost reflects my only reason for the 4 star rating.
