I disliked this product. Very weak flavor. I made it as the instructions told me to do. It was “done” and I tasted a few spoons on a saucer and absolutely did not like the taste. I got my own basil out of the cupboard and added a spoonful in and stirred it around and put the lid back on. It kind of helped but I will not buy this product again. I bought it because I saw the “tomato basil” on the box and wanted to experiment with a different taste other than what I could create.

I purchased this Tomato Basil Penne solely on the positive reviews but found it to be a little bland. Unfortunately I have 5 more boxes to experiment with.

This is the only Hamburger Helper my husband will eat and now my kids ask for it too. We haven’t been able to find it in stores and have to order online. It’s easy to make and has a good flavor that isn’t too strong. The texture of the noodles is good, a lot of HH have noodles that clump together this one does not.

This is my family’s favorite flavor. Suggestion: Add additional noodles and water to make a larger batch. Although we love hamburg helper, the amount of noodles provided is not enough to make a meal for even a small family.

So I’m not a big fan of Hamburger Helper to begin with, but I decided to buy several kinds as I’ve been feeling a bit lazy lately. This was surprisingly alright. I did have to cook it a fair bit more than the directions said to get a consistency that I wanted, but that’s alright as the pasta stayed firm. Tossed in a bunch of black/red pepper, and a handful of more basil, and I had two solid meals for next to nothing. I will keep an eye out for a ‘twin pack’ of these, if they make it and will try to keep a few boxes in the pantry. Give it a try, it’s cheap and if you don’t like it you’re not out much.
