Ortega Taco Shells are made the authentic way using whole kernel corn. That’s what gives them their distinctive flavor, aroma and texture.
Only Ortega Taco Shells are carefully placed in a proprietary freshness pack to cushion and protect them from breaking. Each freshness pack is then vacuum sealed to keep the shells fresh and crisp. Taste the difference!
It all started with chile peppers! The Ortega Chile Packaging Company was born in late 1800’s when Emilio, the son of Maria Conception Jacinta Dominguez Ortega, moved to California and founded the first commercial food operation to preserve and package chile peppers, seeds for which he brought with him from New Mexico. Just like Mama Ortega, Emilio took great pride in the food he prepared and focused on providing the highest quality peppers to create the very best salsas and chiles.

I bought these and opened the box to find EVERY one of the shells crushed.

I am not wild about these taco shells – they just don’t taste fresh at all. Any time I buy these, they always taste like they are stale, I can never get them to taste good at all.

stale every single time we buy them, whether it’s just the shells or the entire meal boxes. wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

I bought two boxes of these and out of 24 shells, at least half of them were cracked or broken in half. I usually but the GV brand and rarely have had a broken shell. The only advantage they have over the cheaper GV brand is that the base is much wider making it easier to fill. But overall would not buy again unless you want nachos instead of tacos.

They are hit and miss when it comes to breakage, but Ortega always makes it right for me. The people who complain about staleness just need to follow the directions on the box. I do and mine are NEVER stale when I eat them.

Too crumbly. It cracked when I put beef taco filling in.
