It works great – though the software could be more dummy proof. As I am a dummy, I had to google how to apply the color profile in lightroom. Meaning: the software doesn’t tell you what to do explicitly.

Calibrated external monitor and MacBook Pro. They both look different to me. The external monitor has a yellow tint to the grays. I’m a little disappointed and don’t really trust it right now. Might get an xrite to compare.

SpyderX Elite solved my color match issue on my dual monitor setup. My older computer has been more problematic with the software but it’s because of the Windows 10 software that controls the color and brightness so more work needs to be done here. The SpyderChecker24 software, however, will only create camera-lens profiles for 3 commercial editing packages and tends to favor Adobe Lightroom. The software will not function with RawTherapee, Darktable or Gimp to create DCP profiles and I have yet to find a “reasonable” workaround. Chart still good for visual adjustments but tedious!

This was a sale-price induced purchase by an engaged non-professional. Registration and software download were not well documented, but were managed without difficulty. Users of Apple OS 11 should be familiar with OS Color Synch Utility app prior to installing and using the SpyderXElite app. Actual calibration with the Datacolor tools was quite rapid and produced a dated and re-namable profile loaded to the list retained by the OS Utility. The supplied sensor hardware and software should be useful for maintaining color calibration over time. I shall try the sample icc profiles provided for Canon and Epson printer papers on another day. Meanwhile, I will use the color card with my Colorscan 9000F scanner and third party scanner software to see pdf I can improve rendering of scanned prints and negatives.

Calibrating my monitor was quick and easy. The on screen instructions were clear and precise.
I noticed an immediate improvement in my color matching.

I bought this for my iMac and I’m very pleased with it, it’s simple to use and works well.
The software download and installation all went smoothly and the calibration process is quick. The monitor definitely looks better after calibration. My only niggle is that the room light measurement is returned as either very high or very low, there doesn’t seem to be a level of background light that the unit regards as being normal.
Most of my photography is underwater so the SpyderCUBE exposure calibration tool and SpyderCHECKR 24 Color Chart probably won’t get a whole lot of use but the bundle was too good a price to leave it behind.
From a brief test with my Nikon D300 the SpyderCUBE gives a useful sanity check on white balance, exposure, contrast and black point quickly and easily.
Likewise the SpyderCHECKR provides calibration for the camera and the software integrates easily into Lightroom and Photoshop.

I’d the Spyder2 Pro before upgrading to this and I should have done it sooner. The new Datacolor SpyderX process is so easy and fast I can calibrate 3 of my displays in the same time the Spyder2 does one.
