I did not like that in the description it says that is compatible with the smartthings app when it’s not. The only way to control you bulbs if you have this hub is using their app.

Funciona solo por medio del celular, lo compre porque según es compatible con Amazon Echo spot y no sirve, solo es compatible para dispositivos en Inglés, en México no hay nada para esta marca.

I don’t know why I couldn’t connect my Sengled light bulbs to my Phillips hub. But the Sengled Smart Hub connected with the Sengled light bulbs on first try. The light bulbs are supposed to be dimmable. but I’ve yet to have that work very well. Alexa and me are still working on that function. One thing I thought was fun was being able to turn the light bulbs on being a block away from my house using the Sengled app on my cellphone.

I recently purchased your Sengled Element light bulbs with hub. Once I set up Sengled Hub in my test network, I scanned the hub’s IP for open ports. Amazingly, the port 80 was wide open. Port 80 usually means there is a web server behind it. I tried accessing the website hosted on that port and it was an admin console page for Realtek WLAN Access Point Webserver. I looked at all the settings and found that there was no admin userID or password set. I set up admin userID and password to secure the web server a little bit.

This needs to be secured. Your customers don’t have a clue that they are running a wide open web server vulnerable to hackers.

While accessing various pages on the web server, it looks like I could get the password to the main wifi that the hub was connected to, which was in plain text.

Hackers could also change the mode of operation of the Accesspoint to become a rogue router within the network. They can also make the hub not connect to any bulbs at all, which is bad for physical security too.

Also during the general setup of the hub, I found it very uncomfortable that it is required to be connected directly to the router via ethernet and the hub must be placed into the internal wifi instead of something like a guest wifi.

Works great with the bulbs I bought!…it was just a little frustrating getting my network to recognize it. (I run an ASUS RT-AC88U router with Cox high speed internet and an Amazon Alexa Echo, and have never had issues getting devices to be recognized on it before.) This device took several tries at booting it up and running through the steps before it was connected. Once connected though it’s been working like a champ and is easy to operate with the simple voice commands through my Alexa to turn on-off-and dim.

The app you’re forced to use with this hub is so incomplete, confusing and unreliable you’d think it was engineered by a 3 year old. (No offense intended to 3 year-olds everywhere.) The product is clearly not ready for prime time. One good example is establishing a WiFi connection. After FINALLY getting the thing set up using the LAN cable supplied, you have the option to establish a WiFi connection. Assuming that goes well (Mine did after several wrong turns caused in part by setup screens which did not fully display or had text written text.), you get a “Congratulations” screen telling you to now remove the network cable. This is supposed to cause the hub to reboot and come up on WiFi. It didn’t! After several attempts and trying some “tricks” suggested by Sengled (e.g. set up a static IP address for the device) I finally discovered the following statement: “We still recommend keeping the hub connected to your router with the Ethernet cord since a wired connection is more reliable with any internet-based tech.” Well, doesn’t that speak volumes? Why do they sell a hub as WiFi capable then advise using the wired interface because their WiFi is too unreliable. Ok, you’ve been warned. If you want smart bulbs, find yourself a smarter company than Sengled.

This is an update to the review above. I also changed the star count from 1 to 3. As indicated, I ended up keeping the hub cabled to my router. That said, I have to admit things have been working reasonably well with the exception of a 24-hour Sengled outage back on November 18, 2021. It effected the hub, so nothing at all worked. That was fixed by the next day, so my 2 x 80W equivalent and 3 x 100W equivalent Sengled bulbs are working (somewhat) reliably again. It doesn’t seem completely fair to single out Sengled since all of these so-called “smart” devices have their share of issues. How many times have we all heard Alexa report that this device or that device “…isn’t responding. Please check its power and network connection”?

Bought a second hub because my existing one was having difficulties connecting to devices in the basement. I’m a geek, so I have my network setup properly–wifi is on a different subnet from the other traffic for various reasons.

However, this piece of crap will ONLY work if its plugged directly into the wifi router. Can’t be plugged into something on the same network in the basement.

Absolutely no advanced configuration–I can’t remote into it to configure it. I can’t connect to it from anything but my cell phone over the wifi.

Very unimpressed and support is no help at all.

I’m guessing that if I put my wifi on the same subnet as everything else, it might work. I’ll try it, but I don’t really want to do that.

    Whatever, I guess.

Tried and tried to get these to work without the hub. Finally got ONE to work. The hub went on sale for $12, and I jumped on it. Worth every penny, even at full price, IMO. There are timers, and programs you can setup within the hub to help you secure your home by turning lights on and off at random times. I currently use 16 of these bulbs and plan to get more in the future. Setup takes about a minute and a half per Bulb once you’re used to the method.

initially I had a hard time pairing with Alexa. You have to pair the light bulbs with the hub before trying to pair with Alexa. After I figured that out the hub and bulbs work really well. Make sure you pair the bulbs first with the hub!!!
