    OVERALL
The graphics on this screen are beautiful. After turning it on, I headed over to YouTube and grabbed some 8K videos of animals and stuff. Yes, the video is 8K. I set it to HD and watched. I was blown away by the amount of detail, the richness of the colors and the black-black that only OLED can do. I have a 2K 27" monitor as my main monitor for my desktop. The screen on this Asus Zenbook Flip is sharper and more colorful.
As far as processing, this thing is fast. I put Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator on it. They both load up like they were a little notepad document. I was surprised, because this Zenbook loads them faster than my desktop with 32GB RAM and an Nvme m.2 drive.
I loaded World of Tanks on here and opened it to see how it looks. It looks good. I only played the boot camp mode (training), so it isn't as graphically intense as a real game might be, but it still worked fine and looked great.
I like that this has a USB 3.2 connection because I still have old thumb drives I occasionally use. The Mini SD card is nice as well as it makes adding photos from my camera or files from my phone a snap.
The sound quality is kind of lacking in my opinion. I have another Asus laptop that I think is better. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. If you're an audiophile, you probably don't expect much from laptop speakers anyway. These work and they get loud enough for me, but they seem a little rattle-y at times.
When I first picked this up, I thought it felt too light and kind of cheap or plasticky. They more I have held it and used it, the more solid it actually feels. It doesn't feel as sturdy as my aluminum Asus laptop, but it feels good.
When I opened it, I was surprised to see a 10-key number pad. I don't usually see them on 15" laptops. I love having it, though, because I sometimes do a lot of number work.
This only has a 512GB SSD. For what I plan on using it for, that should be ample, but then again, there was a time when I thought a 256GB would be big enough. LOL. Now I have about 20TB in my desktop.
Part of the bad–I don't know what happened. I had a few youtube screens open with videos going. Another couple windows. I opened a recommended story in the pop-up widgets at the low left corner. The computer completely froze. I tried closing and reopening it several times, that didn't fix it. I tried multiple times to force a shutdown by holding the power key 10 seconds (the manual says 4 seconds forces a shutdown. Nothing worked. The screen was on, but everything was completely unresponsive. I left it unplugged and let it sit for about an hour, hoping it would eventually turn off or run out the battery. After about 80 minutes, I tried the power key again and this time it shut off. I have not been able to reproduce the error. I'm guessing it had something to do with the link I followed.
    * I put proprietary charging as a MEH, only because I'm not a fan of it. So many laptops and devices are going to USB-C charging. Now, to be fair, it is possible to charge this using USB-C, but I don't want to have to look and see if I'm charging it with a 20V/5A source (as recommended in the manual).
If you want to do some photo or graphic work or you want a lightweight computer you can use for school/work AND enjoy Netflix or Hulu on, this would definitely be a great choice.
    ULTIMATE QUESTION
Everything always boils down to: would you recommend this? Absolutely. It isn't a bank-buster and it has a great deal of versatility. Did I mention it has a phenomenal looking OLED screen? 🙂

The Zenbook Pro is an attractive package at this price that is able to offer a professional-grade OLED touch screen display that is color accurate for editing photos, video content work, and consuming content, with premium build quality that is also a 2 in 1 convertible design, and high-end specs like the latest 12th Gen Intel i7 that’s not only more powerful but also power efficient that is paired up with 16GB of high bandwidth LPDDR5 ram to keep things chugging along. It’s not perfect there are some small quirks that I will discuss in more detail below. If you’re looking for a quick answer if this is the one the answer is YES! Unless you’re wanting something more portable or more capable of gaming you cannot go wrong with this laptop.
Let’s start with the star of the show and the main component you will be interacting with the most besides the keyboard is the display. The Zenbook Flip 2 comes with a thin bezel 15.6 OLED panel at a resolution of 2880 x 1660 with a smooth refresh rate up to 120hz. There’s also an RGB sensor to automatically adjust the color temperature based on the lighting similar to True Tone on Apple devices. For content creators, you will be happy to know you have several color gamut options at your disposal along with adjusting gamma and color temperature settings. Here are some of the settings available
    Color Gamut:
Native (default vivid colors): factory-calibrated to display vivid full-color images.
sRGB: standard color gamut for web content.
DCI-P3 (standard cinema colors): standard color gamut for cinema content for movie grade colors.
Display P3 (wider true-to-life colors): Combines DCI-P3 with sRGB for a wide color gamut.
Not only can you choose your color gamut but you can also apply some pre-default gamma and color temperature profiles like normal and vivid. If you want to fine-tune it to your liking you can adjust the color temperature from a range of -50 to +50 intervals. You also have the option to adjust the level of blue light.
This screen is just gorgeous let’s just put it like that. If you ever have passed by a demo Tv at the store that made you pause because of how amazing the picture looked, that’s exactly how I felt when I booted up an HDR 4K Video from Youtube. Asus also made sure to incorporate some safety features like pixel shift and pixel refresh to minimize any burn-in from static images.
The 2nd most important component is the keyboard. For the keyboard I found the keys to be too mushy for my liking at first. It felt like I needed to hit the keys with a little bit of extra force to register my inputs. After a couple of days of usage, the keys did get better. The backlight does get plenty bright and what I like about it has a sensor to detect light so it can automatically adjust the backlight to conserve battery life.
The touchpad is pretty good overall. It has plenty of surface area and does a good job of picking up multi-touch gestures like web page scrolling or zooming in and out. Since it’s a glass surface your fingers glide at ease.
Performance is not much to report on here and that’s because it’s a snappy device. It’s quick to boot up and performs just as fast for everyday tasks. The i7 12700h has plenty of power for editing photos with Adobe and some light video editing work. To me, the biggest improvement is the battery life. The first day I used it after fully charging the battery I had about 48% left after 6hrs of productivity work. I did not experience any slowdowns during this time. Not one time did I hear the fans spin up or any hot spots. You have 3 fan profiles to choose from like Whisper mode (which lowers the TDP power so the CPU uses less energy which translates to less heat and longer battery life) which is excellent for light-load work like web browsing, streaming media, and productivity work. The default profile is a balanced mode which is the profile I used for most of my usage which is right in the middle of whisper and performance mode. The last one is performance mode which is perfect for doing intensive tasks like editing photos or video files when you need all the power you can get from the i7. This is one of the main benefits of the new hybrid system that Intel incorporated into their latest 12th gen processors. For light work, you have efficient cores that take over and for more demanding work the high-performance cores kick in when needed. Heat dissipation is another area that sees improvement from this hybrid setup. Overall you can easily get up to 10 hrs if you set the refresh rate down to 60hz and keep brightness around 50% and use the whisper profile. One thing I like about Asus is their software is very good at automatically switching the refresh rate for you when you’re running on battery power. Another improvement is that the integrated GPU (Iris Xe) is much more powerful and you can actually game on it with most triple AAA titles as long as you keep your settings around low to mid and keep the resolution around 720p up to 1080p depending on the game. I wouldn’t recommend this to someone that is looking for a dedicated gaming device though. With a dual fan setup expect things to be kept cool even during intensive work tasks.
You do get a decent amount of ports for a light and thin laptop. You have a full-size USB A 3.2 port, HDMI 2.0, x2 Thunderbolt 4 ports capable of fast charging and video out, and a headphone jack. Asus also included a standard laptop charger.
Build quality is excellent for a light laptop that is solid with no squeaks even when holding it with one hand from the corners. I like the matte Navy Blue color that is surrounded by this silver trim that gives it a premium look. It also does an excellent job of hiding most fingerprint smudges. Even though this is a 15.6-inch laptop it feels more like a 14 ½ inch laptop. If you take a look at my picture for size comparison against a 13.3 inch MacBook Air M1, 14 inch Dell Latitude E7470 and last but not least the 17 inch Alienware X17 R1. As you can it’s slightly larger than the Dell unit but with a bigger screen to work with.
As for the speakers they’re decent and do get loud. They are located on the front but are still subject to being blocked especially when using it on your lap. I’m sure if they were top firing they would have sounded much louder. You can also use Dolby Access to get a surrounding stage field.
Getting under the hood does require a T5 Torx screwdriver. The ram is soldered and there’s only 1 NVME slot. Upgrading the SSD to a larger one will require either a fresh installation or cloning the drive. Future ram upgrades are out of the question. Just make sure you get the right amount of ram for your type of usage. For most 16GB of ram is plenty enough. I am disappointed there’s not an additional NVME slot for an easier way to add additional storage.
It’s hard to recommend another laptop that can match what the Zenbook Flip 15 brings to the table. From best-in-class display to top-notch build quality that comes together in a stylish thin and light design that stands out on its own. It does this without sacrificing power or battery life for light and power users. It’s so good it has ended up being my new go-to laptop.

After the unboxing I was greeted with a sleek but stout laptop with some heft to it, about 4lbs. I was surprised by the weight honestly. After peeling all the stickers off and booting it up for the first time I was amazed by the OLED screen which totes a 2880X1620 resolution at 120hz refresh rate (which is not active out of the box, you must go into display settings to change it). Man is it Beautiful. This laptop comes with your typical power brick from asus which is pretty small for what it does when compared to other laptops. Thats all you get in the box.
After set up I went in and started browsing the internet via Chrome and started to open multiple tabs. Knowing that chrome is a resource hog this was a great test. I had 10 tabs open and playing video on 3 of those tabs at the same time, Netflix, Youtube and Hulu. This thing screamed through all of it. Not a single slow down that I noticed. I then went into Excel and started editing some work files and of course with 16GB of ram there were no issues. The 12th gen Core i7 coupled with the 16GB LPDDR5 ram just crushes everything I could throw at it. I did not play any games though as this really isn’t marketed for that. But basic games should run fine on the Intel Iris Xe Graphics.
I love the 2n1 design and the touch screen to go with it. Great setup for those moments when you’re on the go. Tent mode as some call it is immersive with the screens thin bezels. The touch screen is very responsive and multi-touch.
The keyboard is backlit and has 10key which I am excited about as I type a lot of numbers for work, its smaller than that of a full size keyboard layout. But it does get the job done for me anyway. The keys have decent travel for a laptop, pretty clicky but not in the sense of a mechanical keyboard but just a nice set of keys for a laptop.
This comes preinstalled with Windows 11 and a 512 SSD which is pretty small in 2022 but will get you by. There is Windows face unlock which I love to death and it works really well and is faster than typing my pin. I open the lid (which you can do one handed by the way) and the facial recognition is almost instant.
This laptop has Alexa built in which I have not tried as I don’t use voice assistants typically.
The built in ports are as follows. Full size HDMI, 2 Thunderbolt USB C ports. I USB A, an audio jack.
Pros: That Screen, 16GB of Ram and the latest core i7 from intel.
Cons: SSD size which should be upgradable.

With a 12th Gen Core i7, 16GB Memory and 512GB SSD, the ASUS Zenbook Flip 2-in-1 is a multitasking pleasure to use.
This is a premium machine that exudes quality from the moment you raise the lid of the retail box and the computer tilts slightly forward to greet you. Contents of the box are minimal: computer, power brick, power cord, and a Quick Start Guide.
Powering on the computer takes you through the familiar Windows setup procedure. No surprises here, and the ASUS silently speeds through the initial setup.
ASUS WiFi Master Premium with SmartConnect & WiFi Stabilizer manages connection to your preferred wireless network, and performance has been impressive while connected to a WiFi 6 (802.11ax) network. It reliably holds connection to my network regardless of where I roam within the home and office. I tested it in a very unscientific way: Streaming various HD video sources. I experienced minimal buffering at video startup, and smooth, consistent playback with no reductions in quality. It just works. Large file downloads from Dropbox and Large file/folder transfers across the local network were accomplished with ease at speeds on par with my wired network.
I really like the keyboard. Key spacing is comfortable for my large hands, and it includes 10-key input. Key travel feels just right. Key lettering is easy to read with large white print against the dark blue keytops. Working in low light is also made easy thanks to the customizable single-zone RGB keyboard backlighting. One minor gripe regarding the backlight: I have long arms, and if I use the computer with arms extended, the backlighting is visible under the front edge of the keys and it slightly reduces the readability of the printed keytops.
Windows login can be done using the HD IR camera. I did not test this as I prefer passwords and PINs.
For the security conscious, there are hardware locks (Alt functions on F9 & F10) on the camera and mic with an orange LED clearly visible on the key top when lockouts are engaged.
The 15.6” OLED touch screen is beautiful to look at. HDR content is lifelike. The near infinite contrast of the OLED panel ensures no image detail is lost in the shadows. Native resolution of 2880 x 1620 on a 15.6” display delivers razor sharp images. The 120Hz, .2 ms pixel response means motion blur is nonexistent. There is optional ambient light and color sensing that adjusts screen brightness and color temperature for optimal image viewing based on conditions in your environment.
This computer is a convertible. The screen completely flips around to function in tablet mode. As a tablet, the display transitions between portrait and landscape with computer orientation. The hinges feel rock solid and operate smoothly through their full range. The screen is pleasingly rigid. There is zero flex when rotating the display using one hand on a corner. In truth, at 3.97 lbs., the computer is cumbersome to use as a tablet and I don’t anticipate taking advantage of this functionality very often unless laying on my desktop. Perhaps on an easel?
My old capacitive stylus works well with the touchscreen for basic tasks, but this screen supports 4096 levels of pressure input and is capable of much more detailed input; it warrants a stylus upgrade if you wish to take advantage of this functionality.
Connectivity options are many. There are two Thunderbolt 4 ports. These things are amazing. With the right accessory, it seems there’s nothing they can’t do. In addition to 40 Gbps data transfers, they can also support 4K external displays. USB-C accessories are fully compatible with these ports. I appreciate the inclusion of a microSD card reader, USB 3.2 type A port, and a combo headphone/mic jack. A full-size HDMI port simplifies connection to my external monitor.
The speakers were a pleasant surprise. They sound terrific! The Harman Kardon-certified quad-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system is clear, full, and can reach an impressive volume. While watching a movie, voices are easy to understand, even through loud action sequences, and environmental sound cues are accurately placed. I can’t believe what the engineers can do with modern laptop speakers.
If I were pressed to say something negative about this computer, it wouldn’t be about the computer at all, but about the power cord. After years using power bricks (even other 90-watt systems) with integrated power plug, the necessity of a heavy-gauge plug-in power cord (see picture) feels like a step backward. Cable management is a little more complicated. Not a big deal.
The ASUS Zenbook Flip is truly a do-it-all wonder. I love it.

If you are considering this latest version of the Asus Zenbook Flip. Its performance does not disappoint! Latest Intel Evo I7 and 16gb RAM keep Windows moving without hesitation. Almost everything from the audio and camera look and sound considerably better than previous laptops I have used. To me, the real selling point is the FLIP’s ability paired with the new 120hz OLED touchscreen. Just like the small screen on your pricey late model cell phone. This laptop has a fast refresh rate OLED screen for the best image quality at all viewing angles and buttery smooth scrolling and media playback. And while you may not initially see the need for the Flip function. You will want it and its better to have it and not use it, than to not have it at all. You can Flip the keyboard behind the screen to be a large and powerful Windows tablet or use it as a drawing tablet (Asus Pen not included). Although, my favorite mode for the Flip. Flip the keyboard face down on your lap and not only will this keep the vents clear for excellent heat dissipation. It removes the need for trays or stands and puts the screen up close and perfect for reclining sofa media consumption or editing work from a more comfortable seating position if you still get to (or want to) work from home. And the hinge is very strong to keep the screen angle where you set it.
Tips I would give to any new Zenbook Flip users. Thoroughly set up the MyAsus app customization settings. Tailor it to your usage needs, but make sure to setup “Asus OLED Care” settings and consider setting the “Battery Health Charging” for how you plan to use the Flip daily. Just know OLEDS can suffer from burn-in and these settings help minimize any future problems. Also know that the only upgrade this laptop seems capable of is the SSD (solid state hard drive). You can remove the back and put in a bigger SSD. But sadly, the memory is soldered. 16gb is usually more than enough for most. Another thing to keep in mind, if you have older mouse/keyboard combos you plan to add to this PC. There is only 1 USB 3.0 port. Consider a USB-C hub to take advantage of the 2 Thunderbolt ports and leave the USB 3.0 port available for flash drives.

So far, I am impressed with this little computer. The new ASUS Zenbook Pro 15 is a beast! The size is perfect for travel, lying in bed, a small café table, but plenty powerful enough to get the job done. I have not had a new laptop in quite some time, but this computer has some pep to it. The 12th generation Intel Evo I7 processor is no slouch, and you can feel it. This is one of my favorite processors for a daily driver laptop, it can keep up with anything you throw at it, and it’s even lightweight and offers fantastic battery performance. It’s hard to beat. This laptop comes equipped with Windows 11 already installed. The graphics are sharp and clean, with a screen that displays colors vibrantly. This OLED screen has a 10-point touch and already comes adjusted to lower the amount of blue light emission all while being absolutely flicker-free. The screen also supports a pen and is pressure-sensitive, meaning when you press harder while using the pen the line will become darker as if you were writing with a real pen or pencil. You have to experience the crispness of this screen, it’s amazing. The whole experience is quick, nimble, and visually stimulating.
Another thing I enjoy is the well-backlit keyboard, capable of 3 brightness settings and off. The long keys on each end make typing precise without accidentally hitting other keys. The charger that comes with this laptop is small but has plenty of juice for a fast charge. The charging cable is 90w and small enough to throw in a backpack without weighing it down. This model comes with 1 USB port, 2 USB-C ports, an HDMI, a mini-SD card slot, and even the elusive 3.5mm headphone jack, plenty of ports to get your projects done, the ability to display your creations, and even immerse yourself into some Lo-fi hip-hop while listening to music and becoming one with your workflow.
OK, let’s talk about the coolest part. This thing turns into a tablet! The screen can open a full 360 degrees and folds flat upon its own underside to sit perfectly flat. This feature was my favorite. I liked to prop the screen up and watch movies or flip it into tablet mode while lounging on the couch or in bed. This computer has the best of both worlds, laptop, and tablet with the power of a computer. The 10-finger touch, OLED 100% DCI-P3 true color display with a 1,000,000:1 high contrast ratio with HDR support adds to the immersive experience, it just feels so smooth. I wish I could have gotten this machine sooner.
In all, I am pleased with this computer and can see it to be perfect for anyone who works from home, needs a fast computer without buying a gaming laptop, or someone who travels and needs to pack light. I would not exactly call this a gaming laptop, but I bet it could handle itself extremely well. The one thing I did not like too much was that when the computer is flipped into tablet mode, the keyboard is exposed on the back. I do not like the idea of having the keyboard set down on anything hard like a countertop, but these laptops are created and designed by the world’s best engineers, so it should be fine. Other than the exposed keyboard, this computer is fantastic, and I will happily take it everywhere with me. I work in cyber defense and can confidently say that this machine is a powerhouse!

I got this machine for my daughter who’s headed off to college in the fall. She’s a music student and needed something which could handle multimedia well. I wanted her to be confident when editing her recordings that the machine wouldn’t bog down. We also needed something she could take to class for notes, but plug in easily to use a 2nd screen and full keyboard. I wanted something which would hold up to daily college life.
At just under 4 pounds, this remains portable despite being 14” wide (15.6” diagonal screen). It fits easily in her computer bag and doesn’t weigh it down. The keyboard is comfortable to use, but the space bar sometimes doesn’t register. It has a numeric keypad which is a little skinnier than a standard keyboard. She was easily able to switch back and forth between the separate keyboard and that on the laptop.
Intel’s Gen 12 processors raise the bar of performance vs. efficiency. In the Zenbook, that means 7 hours of real world battery life of taking notes, recording, and the editing which my daughter likes to do. Nothing felt slow, even switching between tabs with many open simultaneously.
This is the first laptop I’ve gotten with an OLED screen. My phone has one, but it’s a true experience to have it so wide. I’m a little jealous of my daughter’s movie watching experience now, between the loud, clear sound on the Zenbook’s speakers and the sharp, vivid, & dynamic screen. We also really liked that the screen folds 360 degrees so it can be used as a tablet. When my daughter is playing piano, she can lay the laptop in portrait mode and tap through the pages of her score. The machine automatically senses it’s on its side and changes to portrait orientation.
A few interesting quirks: When the screen is flipped over all the way, the keyboard is still active. If the machine is set down on an uneven surface in tablet mode, random letters appear in whatever document or input box is active at the time. Well, it hasn’t seriously gotten in the way yet, I can see certain situations where it would be annoying. Another quirk is when plugging it in, either with the included power brick or a USB-C PD connection, the screen will go blank for a few seconds. This was how I discovered the car adapter I had was unreliable. The screen kept going blank and prevented my daughter from getting much done on the machine in the car. The space bar isn’t responsive near its ends. It really only works if you go about 2 fingers in from either side. None of these is a deal killer, but they keep me from recommending the Zenbook whole heartedly. For my daughter, the relatively low price on this machine is worth putting up with a few quirks.
Overall, this is a generally well-built machine with good specs and a great screen. It’s certainly worthy of consideration for meeting your student’s needs.

If the only thing that mattered was the screen, this would be the one to buy! Once you experience OLED its hard to go back. As beautiful as the screen is, it comes wrapped in an equally beautiful blue body with a classy silver accent around the edge. This is my first Asus laptop and it feels extremely well made, as nice as any laptop I’ve ever used. The backlight keyboard and just the right size track pad have a nice tactile feel to them. Asus claims military grade durability, (I can’t speak to that) but it does feel really well made. Looks will only get you so far and this machine has the specs and performance to back it up.
12th gen Core i7, 16GB memory, WiFi 6 and a fast SSD make multitasking fast and smooth. It’s been along time since I’ve used an Intel equipped machine and I’ve been impressed so far. It comes equipped with 1 full size hdmi port, 1 USB-A port , 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, headphone jack and a micro sd card reader. Probably my biggest surprise has been Windows 11, I’ve been extremely impressed with the functionality and clean design. Along with that, the MyAsus hub is really useful and adds a lot to the user experience. I’m usually not a big fan of OEM installed software, but Asus has done it right. It allows you to easily change and configure important settings, along with other tasks. On the security front Asus gives you the ability to disable the mic and camera with physical buttons that shows when they’re off. Battery life has been impressive also, after 2.5 to 3 hours of use it was still @ 85%. If you’re looking for a laptop with classy looks, a beautiful vibrant screen and good specs, this Asus has you covered .
