Perfectly okay if you don’t care that they are not split point, which is what they are advertised to be. You pick where to drill, put the point on the spot, start the drill, and the bit goes for a walk.

I received this bit today and used it to bore holes in a desk for mounting on a stand.
The bit came very sharp and drilled quickly as needed. It didn’t grab too strong, so it was easy to control. I imagine that this bit will last a long time. For the price, I can’t imagine getting anything else.

Liked: + is exactly what I needed for the project I was needing & was compatible with Dewalt Power drill.
Dislike: none really, this tool served its purpose for the certain drill hole measurement I needed to use it for.

Bought this to drill out an exhaust manifold stud that broke off. Usually brand new bits bite well at first, this one sucked so much I had to buy another bit because this one didn’t get anywhere. Perhaps this bit would be fine for mild steel but don’t bother if you’re looking to drill hardened steel. Funny thing is, a cheaper high speed steel bit is the one that did the job whereas titanium should be better.

Caution: Advertised as a split point, it is actually a speed tip. If this is an important distinction for you – keep looking for a different bit. See the pic.

Chances are you snapped the 1/8″ bits in your set and want the same ones.
These are the same bits that come with theÂ
Dewalt 21-piece set with pilot points
.
And they are also the same that come with theÂ
Dewalt 21-piece set WITHOUT pilot points
.
How could that be? The pilot point set only has pilot points for size 3/16″ and up – the smaller bits are the same in both sets.

My project required drilling holes in 1/2 inch thick mild steel. Drilled the first hole by going slow and using cutting fluid. Drilled fine making good chips. During the second hole the bit dug in right as it made it through the steel and then quickly sheared off in the hole. Luckily I was able to punch it back out. First drill bit I have broken in a long time. Sheared pieces look like potted metal on the inside. Finished drilling that hole and the others with the second bit I ordered fine.
