    Fantastic attachment!
Really enjoy the simplicity of it. It’s easy to operate and easy to clean too!
Tried it out with steak cubes mixed with peppers, onions, and cilantro and made some awesome meatballs out of it!

Bought this grinder for our KitchenAid Mixer. After a single use, an important metal part broke off. We contacted KitchenAid and they sent out another one. After trying it out today, it broke again. These things are only made to work one time.

I got this about 2 month ago from Best buy. it worked great until the work broke after the second use. Go to the kitchainaid website where you can see many reviews similar to mine, regarding that part issue. I hope Kitchenaid will send me a replacement.

I just used it today for the first time to grind up a little over 5 lbs of brisket trimmings and it worked well. I have the 5 Plus bowl lift mixer, so it’s not one of the small ones, and you could tell by sound and smell that it struggled with some of the harder fats. The machine was warm to the touch too. But it did work and I achieved the results I wanted.

I see this thing used a lot on cooking shows and decided to take the plunge and get one.
Short version: really great idea. I’ll be the first to say some of the KitchenAid attachments are garbage, but this one actually is an A+ for me.
While it does leave a tiny bit of meat leftover that can’t get pushed through the grinding plate, it’s not enough to worry about. I was able to grind 2 pounds of short ribs in about 5 minutes and cleanup took about as long since the whole thing disassembles easily. Parts feel solid and like they won’t get metal shavings in my food, so that’s cool too. I”ve used it a couple times now and see no sign of wear or tear.
I do recommend freezing the grinder parts for about 3-4 hours before use and definitely letting the meat firm up in the freezer for at least 30-60 minutes prior to grinding, but it will work if you don’t do that, just not quite as well.
If you want to grind your own meat at home or want to get it for someone who might (ex. hunters), I recommend this if you already have a KitchenAid mixer laying around. Don’t forget to check if it’s compatible with your model of mixer!

I had the old plastic grinder for a number of years and wanted to try the new metal grinder. The difference is night and day. First of all the plastic grinder would leave small black bits from time to time and there is none of that with the metal grinder.
The metal grinder has a bigger tray and bigger opening and also comes with three grinding dies plus a sausage stuffer. The plastic grinder has two dies and no stuffer. It seemed to me that I was able to grind a bit faster with the metal grinder.
I like to place my grinder in the freezer prior to grinding and because this is metal will stay colder longer than the plastic grinder.

Purchased this metal grinder to replace KitchenAid’s older plastic version. Best decision ever! This one grinds meat effortlessly, no worries about having to watch and pick out the mysterious black stuff that occasionally extruded within the meat like with the plastic version. Worth the cost just for that! I like how easy it is to set up and especially enjoy how well it breaks down for cleaning. The plastic version was a nightmare to clean. Comes with food pusher, 3 grind plates, casing attachment and a cleaning brush. Hands down a great purchase and I definitely recommend it.
