purchased as a backup for computer and photos. Has a large capacity and usb ports to easily download, but had an issue with backup it kept stating that it needed permissions. Called microsoft and they ran a couple of test and they said settings were fine to ignore the request.

Storage space is always a plus. Getting this on sale is even better.
The two USB ports on the front are really convenient. Great way to transfer your C Drive to a safe place for back up just in case. Will buy another as the need arises.

If you are needing lots of storage for your family photos and home videos, this external 8TB drive is what you are looking for. With it’s sleek design and easy USB hookup, you can have instant access to hard drive storage in just minutes. I hooked it up and instantly was able to partition it for different operating systems to use on my iMac. Sleek, easy, modern, you can’t go wrong with this purchase!

While purchasing other items at Best Buy I saw this item on the shelf and realized its potential. Cloud backup is slow and restore is equally slow. This device gives me 8 Tb of storage and backups and restores are relatively fast. Having 2 USB ports, it also allows me to backup from 2 devices simultaneously.

Couldn’t find a better product on the market than Seagate’s USB 3.0 Backup Drive with the two USB 3.0 ports on the front of the product. My laptop only has two USB 3.0 ports since it’s a slim and lightweight HP Spectre x360 15″ (also purchased from BestBuy.com at a cost that was cheaper after taxes than online conglomerates / competitors) offered at the time and even to this day!). I researched the best 8TB USB 3.0 hard drive with the most cost effective and reliable reviews and ratings. Seagate wins over Western Digital, hands down. Drive is not loud during periods of heavy use / activity. I’ve had two drives, 8TB each, in use daily at home and my office…moved back and forth between both places too many times to count…my fault for not using a secure cloud storage solution, but realistically the cloud will never be the safest repository or most secure and conveniently available method for storing your data. A second backup off-site is simply a best practice. Using a locally-owned and accessible portable device like this one for your primary archival or storage solution for your system backups is convenient and secure. I used the built-in/pre-provided Seagate Backup software to backup my other smaller portable hard drives and my 6 desktops and laptops! The application encrypts data using Dept. of Defense encryption algorithm algorithms like 512-bit or 1024-bit AES or Blowfish at 132 MB/s at the cost of $200 on sale is a best buy, hands down. Thanks guys. Honest review by a very picky, critical techies in the IT workforce industry.

This is one of the best Hard Drives I have had, this Seagate Has 8TB of data which about 7451GB is Free Available Space (if it’s in NTFS File System) I have had it for a year now and It’s still going strong.
If you have a lot of data to back up and want the biggest Hard drive, you should get this one, this drive uses a power brick which is not portable ofcourse but you get a Huge Capacity.
The Speed it’s Good, I usually get around 30-70 MBs/Second while backing my data from other drives.
It has a light indicator, but it’s only to let you know if it’s On/Off.
Notes: The Drive takes some 5-8 seconds to load when first plugged in, but that’s normal, don’t worry, and when you disconnect it from your PC it takes about 10 seconds to fully power off so you can safely move it around. The noise is not big so it’s quiet, and the two USB ports on the hub are great to charge devices.
****One Huge advice: If you decide to buy this Drive, know that you are getting a great drive BUT DON’T rely on it enterely, like you should have at least another place where your data is backed up too, just in case this one fails unexpectedly, since most Hard drives will fail eventually (statistics say that most drives will last 2-3 Years or even more depending on their use and care), so you should get another drive to back your data, not only this one. That’s the best recommendation I could offer you, take care of your Data by having it copied in at least 2-3 different places.
This would be the best way to protect All of your precious Data:
Have a copy of all your data on:
1: This or any other Hard Drive/SSD.
2: A Second Hard drive, with the same Capacity.
3. A cloud (Internet) backup in case of a fire, earthquake, robbery, etc.
That’s the best Backup Plan I can give you, other than that, enjoy this huge 8TB Seagate Hard Drive 🙂

Greta item, I have had it for a little over a month and I used it as an external HDD for my Xbox one and for that it works flawlessly. I have been able to move my games over to it without fail and it plays the games like they were on the Xbox itself. My prior HDD failed after a week and I had to return it, but this one is still going strong.

Bought this for our videographer to back up all of our photos and videos, works well and a good option to back up the cloud.
