I was looking for a small vacuum for my daughter to use at college. After reading all the reviews I decided on this one. It is great. The suction is strong and pulls dirt/dust out of the carpets amazingly. I was so impressed I bought another one to keep at home. It just has a light on the front. I attached a picture of all the dust it got out of my carpet in the living room. And I have a rainbow!! yuck!!

We wanted to replace another stick vacuum with something that works better. I’ve been quite happy with the Shark. The brush head is a nice and useful option for this style of vacuum. The bare floor head with microfiber pad works well on our wood floor. Having the moving parts up high does make it a bit heavier in your hand, but it’s not excessive. Having a cord means lots of power and that it won’t run out midway through vacuuming – at the loss of some convenience (and more weight for a battery). But the shark has a longer cord than any of our full-size vacuums letting us go much farther without having to unplug-replug.
Finally, bagless vacuums can be messy. This Shark empties quickly right over the trash. It works well and limits the mess, and it’s easy enough for you to just go ahead and empty it after every use.

I bought this to replace/supplement my Dyson handheld. I was having some battery issues where the Dyson would randomly shut off and sometimes not even turn on. I personally love the concept of these new handhelds and was very pleased with the power and versatility of this model. And of course, the price was definitely a huge plus.
Comparing the Shark Rocket with the Dyson handheld, here is how it breaks down. Carpet goes to the Shark Rocket, the corded power of the brush head had the Dyson destroyed when it came to carpets. Hard floors was a pretty easy win for the Dyson, the Shark has a hard floor attachment but it requires a cleaning pad that needs to be washed after pretty much every use and the brush head doesn’t clean hard floors that well. Ease of use goes to the Dyson hands down, no cords and no need to say more. Price is a clear cut win for the Shark, almost 100% as good as the Dyson for less than 50% of the price…
These are the only two real contenders for the new class of handheld uprights and the only reason to buy the Dyson over the Shark is for the cordless convenience, but that’s only if that convenience is worth about an extra $100-200.

So I don’t write many reviews (selfish of me I know), but I’m hoping this will help someone who’s looking for a vacuum for the same reason I was. My grandmother is 85 and still going strong, but was having a hard time keeping up with her floors – hard floors and carpet. I was initially looking for a light vacuum to help her with her carpet, and figured I’d tackle a solution for her hard floors next. I was about to buy an Oreck Magnesium from a local Oreck retailer, when I stopped by Best Buy and saw this Shark Rocket. I figured what the hell, I’ll buy it and at the very least she can use it in place of a broom and dust pan if it doesn’t live up to all it’s hype and marketing as a powerful carpet vacuum. Well, I can tell you this thing is AWESOME. I was utterly AMAZED at what this small vacuum pulled out of her carpet. SHE was amazed at how light and easy it was for her to maneuver. It basically just pulls itself across the carpet, and glides across her hard floors. Some other reviewers have pointed out how small the trash bin is. While I agree, I can say in this case it’s not an issue. In my grandmother’s words, and I quote..”I will gladly empty this thing an extra time or two in exchange for how wonderfully easy it is for my old arthritic hands and arms to push around”
I can’t emphasize enough how exited she was. After seeing that excitement and realizing how hard these types of tasks become on the elderly, I would buy this thing if it cost 3 times what it does.
So, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you have older parents or grandparents and are looking for a vacuum that will make their lives a little easier, please consider this one. On a side note, I was so impressed I’m buying one for my own home….and I already own both a full size Dyson and a Dyson digital slim.

I’m very very happy with this vacuum. It’s very light and small yet so powerful. I love that I can reach high stuff like the fan and blinds. The suction is amazing for such a small vacuum. I’m very impressed with the performance of this vacuum definitely recommend it.

Been a long-time owner/user of canister and uprights. Hated them all. Heavy, cumbersome, attachments a pain. This Shark is just the opposite. Fairly lightweight, efficient, attachments are reasonably convenient. What I really like about it is the ability to easily see the clear reservoir enabling you to empty it as needed, instead if just guessing. The filters are easily accessible and cleanable. The only improvement I wish they would make to it is to change the electrical cord so that it would plug and unplug at the handle-housing. As it is you have two choices to empty the dust-reservoir: (1) conveniently empty it inside your home into a nearby receptacle and unleash a nasty, fine cloud of dust back into the air; or (2) unplug at the wall, gather and carry the entire handle-housing and cord outside to empty into your garbage can. Keep in mind it can require several emptyings (new word) for one cleaning day.

Already knew it would have been a great purchase and it deff gave me the results that I wanted which is GREAT! This vacccum is absolutely worth it my carpet was so gross after moving to a place where has mainly carpet with a chinsy $40 vaccum that never sucked up anything. After about 15 min of use it did get loud but only because It was deff using a lot of power on that rug the first vaccum with this new vacuum. Two uses later not loud at all and still making the carpets look spotless. Great purchase
