Check the box and also the “About this Mac” when you turn on the mac mini. It is 2018, not 2020

There are a million reviews of the Mac Mini online that will have much greater detail than my two cents, but… here they are.
Likes: small desk footprint, free software (GarageBand – the reason i bought it), very quiet fan, more computing horsepower at this price point than mac laptops.
Dislikes: the operating system is not nearly as intuitive as it used to be (sorry, but I cut my teeth on Macs back in the 90s!) I also found that not all of my peripherals get along well with the MacOS and I was forced to buy some new ones. Finally, I was shocked that the Mini has only two standard USB ports. Yes, it has four of the USB-C ports and one HDMI, but all my peripherals – even the new ones – want standard USB, forcing me to buy adapters and new cables. Minor irritant, but still.

RAM underpowered for me. Was known and upgraded by myself to 64. Parallel user. Think about SSD size. Enough for me but heavy users will need more. Have to buy it at the time of purchase. All said, it is an Apple product and delivers the quality that come with it. Great design, low footprint. Ready for Thunderbolt 3, why I decided. No more low USB offline storage / time machines speeds ever again. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

The Mac Mini I purchased had a specs description with a release date of 03/18/2020. The one I received was from 2018. A new one from Apple is only $16.59 more for the latest version. The seller averted this question when asked about the date of manufacture. Check out the Answered Questions section. I also had to call Apple tech support to get the AppleCare for this Mac. They didn’t know why AppleCare was refused on line, but it may have to do with it being from 2018. The Mac Mini is just fine. Works great. Just wished I knew it was a 2018 model and not fooled that it is a 2020.

This item—scratch that—two of this item, have been defective. They BOTH would not start up unless it was loaded into safe mode, which dramatically reduces the item’s performance. Apple support couldnt even understand what was happening. This item is not satisfactory and must have been tampered with in some way. Not satisfied.

I needed a computer for my studies as alternative to my laptop which I could not fix the battery during this health pandemic. I decided to go with MAC Mini cause I had a desktop TV for gaming so I can invest on using it, which is more productive for me. However, I thought it is 2020, but it is 2018. as long as the product information such as process and memory are good for me that’s enough, but still I wish if the seller had mentioned it clearly as not 2020 !! which affects his credibility

The computer overall as a whole is great as you would expect with other Mac products however, if you’re specifically looking for 2020 hardware parts, then this is not the one. I think these computers that Amazon is selling are 2018 models that have been updated to the newest Specs by Apple. They are brand new computers in the original wrapping. Just that the hardware is not the 2020 version. I contacted Amazon to try and fix this in the description especially for those really wanting the 2020 version.

Just a quick heads up for anyone considering the new 2020 Mac mini — I assume that this is a one off production issue that just affected this unit, but it’s a new one for me so something to check when you unbox and set up one of these. When I plugged it in and ran my fingers along the metal of the case, I received an electric shock/buzz. The issue goes away after unplugging it, so there’s definitely an issue with the power supply or construction of this particular unit. If I decide to purchase another one after returning this one I will update this review to confirm that it was an isolated issue which I assume it is.
