I think I’ve gotten all of the Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog toys. They are uniformly excellent. All are aimed at small children and offer ample play and learning opportunities while focusing on fine motor skills.
This puzzle is like My First Peg Puzzle. Each of the five main pieces has a knob or peg or handle if you will. These are critical for fine motor development; my daughter the PreK ESE teacher tells me that it’s so important that some teachers will glue pegs onto puzzle pieces.
Comes with an activity booklet.
Everything is very sturdy and well made. No possibility of choking hazards.

I bought this for the little guy I take care of. It’s great because it teaches colors and shapes. It helps with eye hand coordination and fine motor skills. It’s a soft rubber that’s not “squishy”, so he can chew on the pieces without sharp edges cutting him.

I love how sturdy Learning Resources makes their products. As a mom of 6 kids, it’s important to me that the toys I buy hold up! This puzzle is so much better than the cheaper thin cardboard puzzles that often get bent and are just difficult for little hands to put together. My 12-month-old and almost 3-year-old sons have both enjoyed playing with this fun puzzle toy. It’s great for practicing colors, shapes, and numbers.

Perfect you for a pediatric speech therapist to use. The pieces are durable and vibrant in color. Easy to clean.

There is a lot going on here so it is great for visual and tactile stimulation for kids aged 18 months and up. There are “spike” along the hedgehog’s back that are displayed in the order of the spectrum and include red, yellow, green, blue, and violet. They are each numbered as well. The numbers are painted on but they seem like they should still last a long time. There are also a variety of shapes for little ones to put in place which helps to improve motor coordination. Perfectly giftable.

This has been a favorite for the past couple of weeks and there are no signs of it letting up soon! As we’ve played we’ve gotten lots of practice counting and with shape recognition.

This fun hedgehog is the perfect puzzle for a toddler! My 20 month old loves matching the shapes to the hedgehog.
This toy makes it easy to teach colors, numbers and shapes in a fun way. It will definitely grow with your toddler! As my daughter works on her fine motor skills placing the pieces in the right spots we are also working on color recognition. We will eventually begins adding in shapes and numbers.
The toy is colorful and sturdy and I expect it will last us a long time. It’s also easy to clean, I plan to buy another for traveling!
