Finally, I have a can opener that works! I was frustrated with the last two I bought at the grocery store, even with higher price points. And then, a bit hesitant to order one ‘unseen’ on line. I bought the turquoise color so it wouldn’t get lost in the drawer. WOW! A real sharp blade, precision cutting and nice big ergonomic handle; you can use this with wet hands. AWESOME!

I have had good experiences with Kitchen Aid can openers in the past so when we needed a new one, I didn’t bother looking beyond Kitchen Aid. This version is more streamlined/compact than what we previously had, but it definitely sacrifices function for style. By April (maybe 6 months after purchase) the can opener was totally un-usable. The wedge had somehow collapsed in and it became impossible to open a can. There was no damage to the opener- apparently it got that way through use which is crazy because we didn’t have it for that long and don’t use a lot of canned items. Keep looking – this one will break your heart!

This can opener is unbelievably bad. I would have thought KitchenAid name would not put their name on anything that was this poor quality, but I would have been wrong. This can opener rusted after its first use. I opened a can with it and then hand washed it and set it on a drying rack! It was also so difficult to get it to actually latch onto the can to open it! Finally, within 3 weeks of light use, it completely stopped working. I have no idea how a can opener can completely stop working in that amount of time. This can opener is garbage. Do not buy this, please.

Almost perfect! I’m overall happy with this purchase.

    Pros:
    Comfortable ergonomic handle.
Oversized knob helps effortlessly opens cans.

    Cons:
This is hand wash only, I wasn’t aware until after I had purchased it.
Even after only hand washing it once (no dishwasher) it started to rust.

Pretty good can opener. It destroys the lids of the Chunky soup tins that gave my cuisinart trouble. However the blade is not replaceable and it’s made in China. So it scores low for environmental sustainability.

It has taken two months to find the courage to write this review. First, I used this thing once. That’s it, just one use and torque was too much from my weak hand. It broke. Metal on plastic construction is a huge no, no. So it sat on my counter top for a month just slapping me in the face with its awfulness. I was able to get other cans open in the interim the old fashion way (hammer). My cat has now been missing for a month, it may very well be due to the sadness she sensed off myself over month pondering as to why such a terrible products are made, the environmental impact on goods that should only be purchased once in a lifetime. I can see why the Russians think Americans are inferior. Kitchen Aide, you have lost a customer for life (I only planned on purchasing from you once, you know the whole 1 time purchase thing, but now I can’t recommend you to any family that has cats, for obvious reasoning).

I ordered this can opener because we are in a lock down and can not go in store to purchase kitchen essentials because it is not “Essential”. Within 24 hours the base of the blades are beginning to rust. Despite washing and drying it with a towel once were are finished. I feel like this one is more cheaply made kitchen aid can opener and realized I could have just went to kictchen stuff plus and do curb side pick up for better quality. It does cut well, however the rust so early give me the thought that it will rust soon. Just like the one from the dollar store. except this one cost WAY more.

Knob sheared off after 10th use. Poor quality. Very disappointing! I had to use a set of vice grips to open cans. I ordered the Amazon Basics brand and it can’t get here fast enough. My wife is having a fit because this KitchenAid one is junk and because we have to use Vice grips on a can opener until the new one gets here—her parents are visiting and it looks bad and her dad (my father-in-law) is complaining relentlessly about this stupid can opener. Merry Christmas…

Don’t waste your money on this can opener. I purchased this can opener to replace a can opener that broke after 4 months. This one looked better built. It wasn’t, it broke in less than a week. Take a $20 bill out of your pocket and hold it down in the trash with this worthless garbage.

I prefer manual can openers because they take up less space and its one less appliance. However, this one simply doesn’t cut it, so to speak. Like so many other can openers, it doesn’t cut all the way around the lid of the can. You are usually left with two spots it will not cut, forcing you to pry open the can with something and risk cutting your hand. If I wanted to pry the can open, I wouldn’t have bothered to buy a can opener. And, if you are going to call it a “can opener” it should actually OPEN the can. Now I have to buy another one and hope it works better. This was a total waste of money.
