There’s a lot to love about the Magic Keyboard. The added trackpad and scissor-switch key turn the iPad Pro ever so close to being an actual laptop. But maybe too much?
For students, you probably spend most of your time reading or writing on your iPad Pro. With this accessory, it isn’t easy to do either with the case. Is that a problem? No. You can always remove the case. However, you just spent $300+ to protect your iPad Pro. So… Yeah. You’re probably better off using the Smart Keyboard case that Apple still makes.
If you’re a typist, well, you probably wouldn’t take typing on the iPad Pro seriously anyways.
Would I recommend the Magic Keyboard? Not really. Is it still a great accessory? Definitely. If you spend half your time using the Apple Pencil, this may not be for you.

Genuine Apple magic keyboard for both 2019 and 2020 iPad Pro 11’’. You will love it once you get it. I know it’s really pricey so I give 3 stars if the value for money, but this keyboard really turns the iPad to a laptop and I am using it as my secondary for work now. Awesome item from Apple.
On the other hand, it doesn’t have built in battery and uses the power source as the iPad, however, I have found that if you use a lower wattage power supply and you are able to charge your iPad alone with it, you may have the warning “not charging” message when you plug that power source to the keyboard USBC port instead of the iPad USBC port. I have this issue when I plug in using a USBA-USBC cable with a 48W multi-port power source and I have to always plug into the iPad instead of the keyboard to workaround it.

I wanted to like the keyboard, but for the price it’s just not that functional. There is definitely some good things about the keyboard case but all of the good things still don’t make this case worth $300.
Pros:
1) Sleek looking
2) amazing trackpad/ touchpad functionality
3) no Bluetooth pairing required, it automatically pairs using the smart connector
4) can charge the iPad using the usb c port on the case
Cons:
1) there is no function keys or shortcuts on the keyboard
2) the viewing angles are limited. Only 2 positions
3) the iPad cannot be used in tablet mode unless you remove the iPad from the keyboard/case, so there’s no protection for the iPad while using it alone
4) even with the iPad attached to the keyboard then sides/edges of the iPad are not protected. The case only covers the front and back
5) EXPENSIVE
I have both the magic keyboard and another keyboard case that I ordered from Amazon and I prefer the other keyboard case because it is more functional and was much more affordable ($75). I have added photos for comparison. The only reason why I gave the magic keyboard case 2 stars, is because it is an Apple product that is well made, if this case were made by another company I would give it 1 star! I’m so disappointed in Apple for this keyboard case. This is the only Apple Product that has completely let me down ( I have, and iPhone, iPad Pro, MacBook, Apple Pencil, Magic Mouse, AirPods, & Applet TV). This product does not follow in suit with other apple products.

Apple outdid themselves with the Magic Keyboard……the keyboard is as good as a MacBook Air…..very easy to type…and the touchpad is excellent….Have been using Apple products for many years and have very rarely been disappointed. Keep up the good work Apple

This pretty much rocks. I’m typing this review on it and it’s a better keyboard that even what’s on my MacBook Pro. It uses scissor switches and feels just right to type on. And the built in trackpad, while smaller than on a MacBook, does work and makes the iPad a lot more laptop like and usable with the keyboard.
Yes, it does at a lot of weight to your iPad but they had to weigh it down a bit to prevent the iPad from toppling over once install. I’m on the 11” iPad and don’t find the overall weight that bad.
When I want to read on the IPad in portrait vertical mode, I just remove it from the Magic Keyboard and hold it in my hands. This is surprisingly comfortable because the iPad alone is so light. In this scenario, the Magic Keyboard can be considered sort of like a base to return the iPad to when done reading.
Yes, this is a bit pricey, but I don’t regret my purchase.

This is a sharp looking keyboard. The iPad snaps on easily and the tilt holds into place very well. Almost too well, in fact. You need a good amount of effort to change the angle of the iPad. I would love for it to be able to go a little flatter – I believe the max angle is 130 degrees which is good for any desk but doesn’t give you that “canvas” feel if you want to draw using the Apple Pencil.
I was surprised to find that the trackpad works great – just as you’d expect with a MacBook. Key travel is amazing – similar to the old MacBook Airs – and a huge step up from the butterfly switches Apple had been using on some of the more recent MacBooks. In order to not have the iPad with keyboard be top heavy, they had to make it be very weighty. Additionally, the keyboard is flush on both sides of the iPad folded up, so the additional width makes it fatter than a MacBook Air. So if you’re looking to travel lighter or thinner than a MacBook Air, this keyboard might not be for you. But it’s absolutely a great addition that gives you much more functionality than just an iPad or MacBook.

I thought this would be an unnecessary purchase but I am glad that I was proved wrong. It’s great for typing and improves the iPad experience

This is really magic, really good, really extended my iPad Pro 11” usability. I have a MacBook Pro 13”, I somehow feel this iPad Pro/Magic Keyboard combo works even better sometimes than my MacBook Pro.

Love it! The trackpad makes the iPad function like a laptop and the keyboard is great, even on the 11”! I’m using this as my go to for remote teaching! I do my lessons, emails, Zoom meetings, etc., with this keyboard and the iPad, and it takes the tablet to a whole new level! Regret not having a keyboard for my previous iPad models sooner. This is pricey, but WELL worth it! It will change your life and most people will wonder why Apple did not think of it sooner. No function keys, but the whole point is to turn your iPad into a tablet/laptop hybrid, and I, for one, am impressed and enjoying using it for my teaching and personal entertainment! Thumbs up! 👍🏼

other than the fact that I love the keyboard I love that when I’m sitting on my bed and it’s on my lap it is stable unlike other cases.
and I love that when I take my iPad off to write I just close the case and put my iPad on top so it doesn’t slide around.
I love everything about it!
