So I order this backpack sprayer because I’m tired of dragging around the standard sprayer thus hurting back. Good reviews..check, box not damaged..check, contents look good..check. Ok let’s put this sucker together. Pull trigger on wand just to check things out and instantly get sprayed in face with mist. No big deal right? WRONG, the ever noticable smell of chemical poison smacks me in the face. Open the lid on tank and same thing, pressure change sends a mist if poison through my living room where I thought I was assembling a new product from factory. If I get another previously used/returned item that I bought new I’m gonna spit. At least rinse it out then let it dry before you pawn it off on your customers. I don’t hesitate anymore, return items until I receive what I payed for….a new item!

The description provided to Amazon is incorrect. “Easy access pump with fold-away pump handle for easy storage and also can change seals in just minutes with no tools”. This model DOES NOT come with a folding handle. The photo that shows handle in resting upright position is wrong. It stays horizontal and sticks way out for storage. I called customer service at Field King and spoke to a Customer Service Rep who gave me wrong information, then her supervisor who took no responsibility for this and blamed the wrong description on Amazon. Very poor customer service. This is listed as “Amazon’s Choice”. I hope they remove that recommendation. They don’t deserve it.

Overall, very nice and closer 5 stars but not perfect. One minor “complaint” is the continuous pumping. You can either pump it up and spray for 10 seconds then repeat OR pump it up then slowly but continuously pump it as you spray to maintain a constant spray pressure and spray pattern. Its 10x better than the cylinder / bottle type pump sprayers that I have gotten at Home Depot and used for years. With those you need to stop spraying, put the tank on the ground, pump it 30 times, then continue for 20 seconds before stopping again, and they are much smaller also. After I used this the first time, I just took the 2 current Depot units and tossed them into trash and wondered why I had not moved to a “professional” back-pack unit a decade ago. I’ve only used this for one extended season so I can’t speak about longevity but no problems or leaks after year one.

You may want to give filling and wearing it a thought. If you fill it up you’ve got about 4 gallons of mostly water + the weight of the sprayer adding up to around 37 pounds. Its very awkward to try to pick it up off the ground and strap it on. I have found it much easier to either fill it while its sitting on a work bench or deck railing then just slip your arms into the straps and back into it without needing to pick it up or fill it on the ground and move it to a bench or railing before strapping it on. Once its on and you are standing up its no problem, I think most guys should be able to handle the weight but a petite female or senior may not want to fill it to capacity. Obviously, you don’t need to fill it to capacity if the weight is big problem.

    Some suggestions.
    1. Save the box because it shows all the features like which nozzle to use for various jobs. The manual is next to worthless.
    2. A feature not mentioned is when pumped up you can spray trees up to about 20 feet into the air.
    3. easy to assembly( only one bolt to attach handle to unit), fill, lever to keep pressure up, comfortable to wear on back.

It says no leak, but less than a year later it leaked! There is a plastic nut holding the hose to the pump assembly on the bottom of the tank. How can they guarantee no leaks when the hose connects right at the bottom of the tank? Anyway, I took it apart to find the problem, and the plastic of the pump assembly had cracked at the base of the threads. And the nut was on there cross threaded – from the factory! But I cant blame the assemblyman, since its only plastic. I have seen other more expensive models of the same style, same pump, with stainless steel and other fancy features – but all with the same plastic hose connection. That will always be the weak link, bound to break or cross thread, and LEAK!

I really like how this backpack sprayer is built. It’s strong and rigid, has very easy final assembly with just attaching and bolting on the pump arm, along with attaching the final segment of the spraying wand and the choice of spray head.

The tank does hold 4 gallons and it does have a built in screen so debris and what not doesn’t get into the container, you can easily remove it though. I do also like the larger opening so you can fill it easily.

The backpack portion of it has padded straps and a connecting two part quick connecting harness, so it does fit well and comfortable to the chest and back.

The tank pressurizes very quickly and it’s simple and effective to keep it pumped up while using it continuously. I really did like the 25 psi pressure regulator accessory, that works fantastic when spraying out, for example, weed and grass killer‘s on the lawn.

Surprisingly it does come with virtually every spray nozzle of choice you may need, so you can use this sprayer for anything to get the job done without having to buy any additional components or accessories.

The only part I wish they would designed differently is I wish the pump arm woukd have some kind of push down button or lever where you could then rotate the pump arm about 90° so it could the sit straight up and not stick out, because it does make it hard to store the pump sprayer in a compact manner.

So overall, for the price and what you get, it’s a great value, and I would certainly recommend it to others for sure!
