I’ve always used HR monitor since the last 20 years for all sports and training activities. Few Polar’s and since the last6 years GARMIN. My last Garmin was the 920XT that I still have it and works great. I delay trying the Fēnix series until now. I have to said that the amount of information display on the watch, the look, performance and variations of strap to wear is amazing. SUPER happy with the investment and purchase of this watch. A+++++++

Excellent watch does great in mud runs. Sapphire glass is a must if you gonna run around in the mud etc.
Expensive item but good item. Bought mine on sale.

After thinking about it for a while due to the price tag, I ultimately decided to pull the trigger and make the purchase. After using it for a couple of weeks, I was not disappointed. I absolutely love the watch. I have tried two types of Fitbit, various Samsung watches and now the Garmin. This watch blew all the others away. If you love data and statistics, this watch is for you. So much data to slice and dice. The watch is nice and big. I’ll be wearing this watch for a long time, well worth the price.

Been studying a Fenix 5x pro and when they went on sale for $599 I pulled the trigger on one and wasn’t disappointed right? Keep reading the 6x pro sapphire is coming…..
So, I am wearing the 5x pro sapphire for a couple days and since it was my first Garmin watch I had to learn the set up requirements and all…..no big deal and it teaches you a lot about the watch (I’m 64 yrs old) and after I start to put all this in perspective and realize what I have here I could then see the value of the 6x pro sapphire….even at full retail….so I went back to Best Buy to see if I was stuck with the 5x and the gentleman that sold it to me said heck no, we can swap….even tho I had worn it a couple days….so I did trade em and paid the $250 (significant to me) difference.
Why? Why? Why.? Pay more?…..waited 2 yrs for it to go on sale then pay full retail…..well….because it’s worth it, worth it big time.
Double the memory, more battery, higher res (in sunlight looks like the screen is painted on, just beautiful) bigger screen with more data fields, slightly thinner, better watch band, new cool apps some of which are exclusive to the 6x pro sapphire…..you want more reasons? PM me because I’m ready to get to the review now LOL.
It’s probably worth noting here I wasn’t considering any other watch except a Series 5 Apple Watch. (I have a Series 3, my first ever smart watch) but do I really need to go into that decision? Right off the bat, if nothing else….Garmin’s battery life is superior and then some….as the battery ages thru use it will continue to serve me well and that’s with abuse….
Since I’m on it now, the Garmin is superior in almost all ways I can think of that really matter….it’s made to use outdoors (or certainly indoors) and made to use hard. Made to use hard for the reason I bought it and that’s to track my activities. OMG….I pretty much consider my Apple Watch a kids toy compared to this 6x with the huge 1.4 inch screen…Folks are bragging about getting a full 13 hours out of a Apple 5….wow 13 hours now that Apple has released a slew of updates….cause folks were lucky to get 4 hours when they first released em…that’s ridicules here I’m trying to avoid and stay on topic but if you want a sports watch stay away from Apple….they are ok I guess as an extension of your IPhone but I could care less about making phone calls from a watch….never was much of a Dick Tracy fan. Isn’t the idea here to leave the goofy phone at home or do you need to take a phone call while your swimming?….don’t go too deep when you dive in cause if the crappy band the Apple Watch comes with falls off and goes to the bottom of the pool the watch might drown. Garmin won’t, nuff sed.
You have to decide what you want to do with a smart watch first. Why you want it…If your looking for a military grade outdoor activity tracker that operates independent of your phone…totally….but still plays nice with your phone for the metrics and settings of the watch along with the standard smart watch msg and phone call stuff….then this is your watch….only a Suunto or Polar can compete but I wanted the Best….not looking for a fancy Fitbit here…Garmin is all by themselves on this. You really do get what you pay for.
I know your gonna read some goofy 1 star reviews in here….I always read them first and considered rating one star just to be silly. If you want a watch with activity tracking you can’t beat Garmin….and they aren’t married to Google like Suunto is….Garmins apps stand on their own….and they do it well. Folks seem to ding this watch w/o merit….haters
Are the metrics accurate….??…..well, yes….they are pretty good. Are they medically accurate….I don’t really know but they are consistent and that’s what your after in the end, to build a data base to track progress…good as it gets on your wrist and if you want medical Garmin has Bluetooth (and WiFi) built in for their line of ANT+ sensors and they have quite a few. If your training for the olympics, fine. I’m just a old guy trying to rebuild my stamina w/o over doing it….soooo….plenty accurate to build a data base to track your goals and body metrics to improve….in the 3 weeks I’ve had it I am walking twice as far as I used to….Garmin coach does not ask more of me than I can do and will of course suggest goals that are doable…if not Garmin Coach will adjust down if need be….Mine did at first but now I’m working a lil harder. LOL!
Don’t over look the build quality and that awesome battery….not measured in hours like others….not even days, we are talking weeks here….it’s a portly Watch in size and Garmin uses that in part for the battery….the awesome battery. I keep on about the battery for a reason I’ll share here. My Apple Series 3 isn’t “awful” but I went back to my Casio because having to charge that silly thing sometimes even during the day if I used it much got old fast…I got to where I wore it to bed but not during the day because of the battery mostly but most of what I used that for….getting msgs and caller ID and such don’t happen at night so what’s the point really? Besides, the Garmin does that too. Battery life is Apples Achilles Heal and it’s even WORSE on the Series 5….Thank you Garmin for saving me from Google and Apple….
I live out in the country (Ozarks) and get out in the woods a lot…Garmin realizes there is a difference between “walking” and “hiking” …. the latter is much harder and thankfully Garmin tracks the metrics accordingly, now with that said…..let’s say your out in the woods and your see a distant land mark your want to navigate to….how about popping up a full color ToPo map with points of interest along the way and a compass to keep you on the shortest path to that point? Just open navigate and look over the top of the watch pointing at your waypoint and click, you’re off! Maps, tracks and breadcrumbs all the way….like a man overboard function on land….”Edit: It actually has a man overboard function LOL….I should have known” Land, Sea or Air (ToPo, Dive or Jumpmaster) This thing has it all! Has the power of a iPhone just a few years back really.
There are many many aftermarket accessories too but do your homework on that….I bought 2 wonderful charging stands “$12” and a super TI metal watch band ($55) but be careful….make sure you can return….folks like me get confused on what fits what because there are 3 sizes of the same watch and not all this stuff interchanges. This is where I ding Garmin….$300 for a metal watch band?….com’on Garmin, that’s Bull, get a clue cause it makes you look bad and some folks will be put off enough to look elsewhere…Again, some of the knockoffs are good and very reasonably priced, but do your homework first.
Summary….I could go on for hours here but look, if you want an activity tracking device that is also a smart watch and you can fund it, it’s a no brainer to me. It’s the best getting better and I’ll never look back. If you want a Apple Watch, well I suppose there are some reasons to buy one….heck, I’ll give ya mine cause I won’t ever wear it again….I also have a Citizen Eco-Drive Analog Watch (keeping it too) I wear to church and such but I dunno, now that I have a metal band too this Garmin is looking mighty cute…I wear it 24/7 except to charge occasionally in the AM while I get cleaned up.
If I could rate it 10 stars I would give it 11….it was a rather elaborate expense for me but I’m good with it.

I love my Garmin, at first you have a lot of functionality to learn from but once you get over that learning curve this is the best watch to own.

I’ve wanted a fenix series watch for a long time and finally purchased the 6x on a rare sale from garmin through Best Buy. The only real question I had was if the 6x was too big. My local shop wasn’t an option to try one on so I went with the larger 6x and I am so extremely satisfied with the product. It was uncomfortable at first simply because I went from wearing no watch on a regular basis to the 6x. After a couple days of consistent use I don’t notice it much. The size factor is noticeable on a run for sure but primarily I use it as an everyday device and on my bike. The band could be slightly longer but it is fine.

Got to say that this watch is an AWESOME MACHINE! Already tested walking, running, hiking and swimming and it really does everything it says. I even tested while sleeping and it works incredibly well!
Got to say it is a great machine indeed!

Yes it’s quite a bit of money, however you will not be disappointed. There are so many pictures built-in to the multipurpose watch that you will probably never use them all. I have the Garman Fenix 5X prior to purchasing this one. I love the 5X but I really love this 6X sapphire edition. With my aging eyes my own watch used to be a bit blurry but now with the new 6X I can actually see the screen better due to its high resolution
