Bought 2. Made a good, cheap cat house for our outdoor cats this winter. Needed something to keep them warm when the temps were getting into the -20’s. Cutting a hole and draping the end with a vertical cut heavy material made for a quick and affordable solution. I suppose you could use this to keep beer cool, but hey… improvisation.

We did a test with the cooler we received this week before the road trip: We put a deep frozen x-large size ice pack (Canada-made, bought from CanadianTire) into the cooler, and left it in our basement where the temperature was about 8-14 degree C (early June temperature in Vancouver). 36 hours later we checked: the ice had totally melted, and the air inside of the cooler was just cool (not cold).
So their claim “Keep your food and drinks cold, for up to 3 days ” is not at all true, at least for the one we’ve bought.

The cooler is light when empty and very easy to maneuver through a house due to its medium size build. Keeps drinks and food nice and cold for 2 days with some ice water in the bottom and bags of ice mixed in. The handles could be better quality they are cheap. Also concerned about the longevity of the cooler lid hinges.. they are plastic and bend quite worryingly sometimes. Be sure not to get too rammy with the lid.

I ordered two 48 Qt Coleman ice chests as backups to my 30+ year old 100 quart ice chests that are still going strong. Just a little something smaller for day trips. What a disappointment. The lid is pressure fit, no latch. It was hard to open and I’m fairly strong. The hinges on the back of the ice chest look cheap and not long for this world. The worst, and most annoying thing however is that the lid WILL NOT STAY OPEN. Geez Coleman. Loading and unloading this ice chest would be a royal pain. I’ve bought so many Coleman things over the years from camp stoves, to water jugs, to tents, to ice chests. Sad to see that Coleman thinks this product represents what they used to stand for – quality.
PS – I don’t know if this would have kept things cold for a reasonable period of time. I ordered two of these 48 qt at the same time, opened one box, examined it, and put in for a return within 15 minutes. The other box I never opened.

what you’ll need in a power outage. I bought this because I have a habit of buying too many fresh vegetables at one time. Usually from farmers markets. So I put a cookie rack in the bottom and the veggies on top, add another cookie rack and the cold packs. Friends told me to buy an old fridge for basement or garage but I couldn’t find one that I liked or was reasonably priced. This seemed the better idea.
Then we had a power outage because of a snowstorm.
I quickly pulled out the stuff in the refrigerator that we’d need … milk, eggs, etc. … and put it all into the cooler with the same set up as the veggie one. I grabbed a shovel, filled sturdy plastic bags with snow, and added it to the cooler. That way we didn’t go into the refrigerator unnecessarily if at all. And snow is cheap and easy to use to keep the cooler contents cold.
So my Coleman is great and practical. Who knows? When the pandemic passes and we travel again, maybe we will put it in the backseat of the car and load it with picnic things. Hey, now there’s another idea for the cooler!

I use as a baby bath tub. Its holding up well so far. I like that it provides room for my 7 months old long legs, plus deep enough for more splash fun (and the splashes are more well contained than the standard baby bath we used on bathroom counter.) We place this on the floor for safety and ease of use. Son loves it. Its his new favorite. He loves bath time! I did unscrew lid so that it wouldn’t be in the way, then after tub dries, I put all bath stuff in and close it. He likes munching the sides and using it to help him stand, too. He also stands inside the tub making it easy to soap him up with a wash cloth. I like this because its cheaper than most baby bath tubs, and better bath fun. Plus, it will have multiple uses instead of a baby bath that gets outdated and given away or donated.

This is the perfect no frills/basic cooler that I needed to build a rolling patio cooler cart.
There is a drain in the side that could easily be plumbed into a hose spigot.
The lid of the cooler is hollow plastic, so I drilled some holes in the top of the lid and filled it with expanding foam to help insulate the cooler a little more.
I found the idea here: https://fixthisbuildthat.com/diy-patio-cooler-grill-cart-combo-plans/

Me da la impresión que NO es una hielera “coleman” original. No trae las bandejas ni el desagüe como se indica en la descripción. Las manijas se sienten muy frágiles así como las bisagras. Llega sin empaque ni sellos. Opté por regresarla.

Sorry to be so vulgar, but I truly expected more out of a Coleman cooler. When I removed it from the shipping box, I expected a bird’s nest to come out….given the weight. However, I gave it a chance. Upon filling (not over-filling) it with beverages and food, I was beginning to question the quality, as the handles felt extremely flimsy to me….especially given the weight they advertised it would support. Anticipating a potential problem, I carefully lifted my cooler from the marina dock onto my boat. Apparently that was not good enough, because when the handle simply snapped in two, almost half the contents wound up in Davy Jones’ Locker. I know my loss must have been enjoyed, because several fish were swimming crooked and burping shortly thereafter. I never buy cheap items, but thought it wouldn’t be a problem. The reason I bough this “wonderful product” is simply because of the name and the size (there is a very specific space/size in a compartment behind the steering column and wanted to ensure that it fit comfortably). Now, I’m wondering if Yeti makes something about the same size. I know for sure that would not fail. My one word recommendation for this product is a resounding “NOT!”.

This cooler is actually much bigger than I need, but the price on sale ($28) was excellent. I tested it with ice packs. After five days of opening it once a day, the packs still contained ice, so I believe it lives up to it’s claim of keeping ice for three days. It’s too big for my needs, but I just pack the unneeded space with dry foods in a plastic bag, plates, and utensils. I also added a silver blanket for extra insulation.

This cooler is advertised as having “Low CO2 insulation for reduced carbon emissions from foam manufacturing”.
That is a lot of words that means “it is insulated with air”.
There is no foam insulation in this cooler at all. The lid, walls and bottom are hollow.
Tapping the cooler causes a hollow sound. And to test a little further I placed a low power flashlight against the outside of the cooler and could see the light passing through to the inside. You can see this in my pictures. The pics were shot in a brightly lit room.

Great cooler for the price. I used it to make my outdoor cooler box
