When I realized a few weeks ago that Amazon had launched an in-house brand of tools, I nearly jumped for joy. We’ve had such good success with their in-house clothing and household supplies lines that our expectations were high.
This Denali 44-Piece 3/8-Inch Drive 6 Point Shallow & Deep Impact Socket Set certainly maintains the standard, especially at this awesome price point.
The items are well marked, nicely constructed, handsome in black, and arrive with a light anti-rust spray on the range of metal sockets in a very solid plastic case that will help me keep them all organized.
A socket set doesn’t need to be rocket science. This provides everything I would expect at under USD $60, which I find genuinely amazing. Now I get to weed out an embarrassing range of old kits I’ve inherited and picked up along the way that have become badly jumbled and depleted by too many years and too many moves.
Our garage just become a saner place.

My husband works with tools all day long. He does contractor work and repair for a business. Having good tools is essential.
CASE
The case of this is very heavy duty. I LOVE that the sockets all stay put in their allotted spaces so that when you open and close the case, they are not falling out all of the time. The clips close the case tightly and make it stay shut well.
QUALITY
These are very high quality sockets and extensions. They are made from heavier duty metal than the cheaper chrome sets. They also have another side to them- you will need to keep them oiled if you plan to store in basement or garage over time. These need a little care, but they will last if you do that.
MARKINGS
The markings seem to be big enough on the sockets, but on the case, it is very difficult to read them as they are raised on black plastic. If you have trouble with up close vision, you will probably need to mark the case better.
PERFORMANCE
So far my husband has liked this socket set. He was like a kid at Christmas with a new toy. He said that it was way nicer than he expected for the cost. Since he uses 3/8 impact wrench and socket wrench this is perfect for him.
THE BOTTOM LINE
This is a high quality set. The case is heavy duty and the pieces snap into place nicely. Just be prepared to keep them oiled over time and mark the case better if you have trouble seeing small writing.
MY RATING
FIVE STARS. He likes this a lot and is very enthusiastic about having it. The performance is better than expected and quality nicer than expected too. The case is a winner. Highly recommended.

Build Quality:
This socket contains some high quality sockets and an excellent case.
Easy to read..
All the sockets look great and has the size written in both deep etching as well as high contrast laser printing.
The case:
This is a very complete set — in both measuring standard and length. The metrics are on the bottom portion of the case which doesn’t have an retaining side pieces, allow them to be easily removed and replaced. The (less commonly used — at least for me) SAE sockets are on the top of the case and are held in place by the case and take a bit of effort to remove them. The case is very thick and durable for this type of casing and has a very durable latch as well. Top notch!
Note: Missing 21mm shallow…
The sockets are aligned so that the shallow and long bits are usually just above the shallow (the exception being the metric is missing a 21mm and the shallows are therefore skewed to the right a bit at the higher sized.
Included adapters
A high torque wobble and two extensions are included to round out the set. the wobble works very well.
Durability:
The sockets hold up well and show no signs of wear after use
Final Thought:
This is an excellent complete socket set that I highly recommend!

I like that all these sockets are 3/8″ drive, what I use 96% of the time. These will work well with my small Makita impact driver and the half dozen or so 3/8″ ratchets I own. There’s an ‘ok’ selection of impact sockets on the SAE side and a ‘great’ selection of impact sockets on the Metric side (which I use more often anyway). 8mm – 19mm and the deep sockets add a 21mm. In the SAEs, both deep and shallow are 5/16″ – 3/4″. Each socket has sizes stamped on the side and laser etched in small gold number as well. It would be nice if these sizes were a little bit larger to make them more readable for us old guys.
All the steel used is Chromium-molybdenum alloy (MO-CR). Cr-Mo is a heat-hardened steel alloy. Molybdenum is added to give toughness and flexibility. Cr-Mo will absorb impact better than Cr-V while not being brittle. Over time Cr-Mo sockets may stretch a bit but they are less likely to shatter than Cr-V sockets.Chromoly steel is often used in applications that where more strength is required than that of mild carbon steel, though it often comes at an increase in cost.
I like this case too. It’s nice that the metric sockets that I use more often, just lay in their indentations while the SAE sockets that are in the lid clip into place when you push them firmly. This makes the metric sockets much easier to take out and put into the case. There are size indications on the case as well. I plan to use a light colored paint marker to go over the raised sizes stamped into the case. The case also has green plastic latches that hook on and then hinge and click tightly into place. These match well with the green “Denali” lettering on the front of the case. The case has an incorporated handle and seems pretty compact and well-built for all that it holds.
