Ok some people are stupid! First You cant expect this to cut long grass folks duh! i see after reading through these reviews i see a lack of common sense. First a reel mower requires mowing frequently when you have a nice manicured weed free lawn and yes you have to go over it multiple times sometimes x3x4 times if you are picky like me. You shouldn’t buy this if you have a overgrown pot holed lawn and barely take care of it. Real mowers don’t cut through tall grass or bumpy nasty lawns and the blades will lock if you get a small stick in them but comes out in seconds. Its a superior cut over a gas rotary mower…My lawn is immaculate i am sick of messing with gas. The ethanol they use in gasoline totally screws up the fuel sysytem on mowers by gumming it up and dissolving gaskets. I am giving up a 1500$ dollar honda commericial mower for the manual
Reel mower. Had it set up in 4 minutes out mowing 6 minutes after it arrived in a quality box. Mower is sharp and cut very easy but understand with a reel mower you have to go over it twice but it is easy and it is actually fun. Also realize a reel mower takes maintenance you have to sharping the blades and adjust things. Sure it will work when you get it but after awhile adjustments and blade sharpening are going to be needed. You will also need a string trimmer for the border to give it the clean sharp look. It seems to be high quality it cut very well right out if the box. Also don’t leave it outside in the elements to rust!!!! Important do not leave it outside to rust! For maintenance each time personally i wash it down after and then apply some lubricant like wd40 or similar. Really some
Stupid people leaving reviews apparently thinking this will Operate like a gas engine mower it wont!!! But it will cut a manicured lawn way way better. If you are lazy, incompetent, and don’t have pride in your yard then dont buy a reel mower

I’ve never liked cutting grass- the noise, the vibration of my hands and arms, the pulling and pulling on that darned cord to get the mower started.
I’ve recently moved to a small urban lot with a flat lawn and I can get out there and mow it in 10 minutes. I can mow at any time knowing the noise won’t disturb my neighbors. These reel mower is just as easy to push as a gas mower. I don’t have to worry about gasoline and oil.
There are a couple of areas on my front lawn where tree roots are exposed. These roots, even though no more than a pencil size in diameter, stop this mower cold, but other than that, this little mower is a breeze. By the way, I’m a 55 year old woman with a heart condition and a broken finger on one hand, and I still prefer this to a gas mower. I’m glad I got it

I have a small patch of land, narrow in some spots, want to keep it neat but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on too much mower (especially when I am going to replace the grass in a season or two anyway). Saw this and recalled my dad pushing one just like it around the yard in the early ’70s, and figured it was perfect.
And it was. Unpacking the box to full assembly was about 12 minutes. Minute 13 it was out on the lawn, cutting like a champ, blades whirring as grass was cut effortlessly. If I cared enough to mow in straight lines, this little baby could do an equal job to a pro landscaper’s best mower. The topper – my backyard had weeds/grass up past my kneecaps, due to heavy rains. Despite some reviewer’s warnings about this mower struggling with tall grass, it was more than up to the task, despite everything being soaked. Yes, it took a 2nd/3rd pass and some pushing, but in the end, an overgrown mess became a neatly manicured lawn.
Highly recommended. BTW sent a video to my old man, who – at 86 – couldn’t stop mocking me for using an “antique”. Go ahead, laugh – but for around $65-, I got a killer mower and a respectable little lawn. And at least an extra $100 in my pocket…

This is a great mower! I used a reel mower for the first 25 years of my life… unlike today we did not really have the option to say screw it and just get a gas or electric mower, so you learned how to use what you had. The mower mechanism is solid and well made, even though its made in China, they did it to American specs. The handles are much stronger than I thought they would be based on other reviews, yes the handholds are close together, but you can push this with just one hand so its really not an issue. This thing cuts great! I suspect some of the “poorer” reviews are from people who did not grow up having to use one of these.. its simple to use, and many tricks came back to me. I actually got my yard done quicker than with my electric mower. Oh Small sticks did not bother it, as long as they are laying mostly flat, and it cut down dandelions and other weeds, you just have to get the angle right. It even whacked down a patch of crabgrass. so anyone reading the poor reviews, its like anything, there are tricks to using one of these, the more you use it, the more tricks you will figure out, but honestly this is just as good as the ones i grew up using, so any older folks familiar with these, do not worry, its solid and works great!
