Rotator Lift Away is another great Shark vacuum. If you have carpet, and you have pets. This vacuum could be a great new addition to keeping your floors clean. The Power Fins are great on my older carpets and the traffic zones from my 2 little dogs. The fins seem to groom the carpet substantially better than the traditional roller brush. Plus, if you like carpet lines, this Lift Away perfectly grooms triangles with each pass. Although, even if you don’t have a lot of carpet, Shark has hard floors in mind too. In between the fins there are soft brushes that paired with power level 1. You get full suction with a slower brush speed to not scatter dust and debris on tile or hard wood floors. Shark even includes a detail crevice/duster brush attachment for small areas in addition to a full size upholstery and crevice tool. So, should you decide to Lift Away to the car. You have a few great tools for vehicle cleaning too.
A couple notable things for other buyers. The Lift Away feature is great, but unlike some other Sharks, you can not use the powered floor head away from the body of the vac to get under furniture. There is a headlight on the vac, but not one on the handle. And that raised headlight does make the head a bit thick and prevents me from getting under certain furniture. Another notable thing is the cord is a bit shorter and made me switch outlets one time more than other vacs I own from Shark. These should not be deal breakers for a great powerful vac. Yet, low clearances and not being able to get under some raised furniture might be for some. BTW that clearance is approximately 3 inchs depending on carpet plush.

  2. NAMO

    PROS
    Strong Suction
    Good Versatility Being Detachable
    Lighter Than Competitors
    CONS
Design Makes Vac Seem Unstable at Times
    Odd Suction Adjustment Knob
    USE
The Shark is smartly packaged and engineered. Installation is a breeze consisting of only 3 items that snap together firmly and snuggly. The vac can be easily assembled and running in less than 5 minutes without resorting to complicated directions. Perfect!
The Shark promises a fully sealed HEPA system that traps an impressive 99.99% of dirt and allergens. Using the Shark after my well used and well travel Dyson was eye opening. It hadn’t been long since I last swept the seldom used part of my house with my go-to Dyson DC07. Thinking it would be a quick tryout of the Shark, I gave it a go. WHOA! The amount of dirt and debris picked up by the Shark was impressive, humbling, and even a little embarrassing to someone who is a neat freak.
One of the major attractions to the Shark brand is their magic they put to the brush rolls. Several times a year, I am forced to take my Dyson apart and literally cut the tangled hairs from the agitator brush. It is a dirty and time-consuming process. Shark has the whole self-cleaning vacuum thing down to a science. Even with pets and a spouse with long hair, the Shark grabs hair and blows it into the canister. Whatever it is that Shark does to its floor tools, it works. After a full house vacuum, there is no hair whatsoever tangled around the agitators. I have NEVER been able to say the same thing in all the years I’ve owned a Dyson.
The Shark is very maneuverable and user friendly. It glides nearly effortlessly across most floor surfaces. The vacuum glides under and around furniture and objects with ease. Easily swiveling from side to side. Maneuverability is top notch. As a bonus, the canister easily snaps off the rest of the machine to allow you to reach high places like windows and blinds or makes the whole vacuum easy to carry and handle while doing stairs. Once you try a convertible vacuum like this, you will begin to rethink what’s important in a cleaner.
    NEGATIVES
As light and maneuverable as the Shark is, I also find it awkward. The narrowly spaced wheels make the vacuum want to tip from side to side unintentionally. I get it. That is one of the selling points to the vacuum and is a unique feature, but having been used a bigger upright, I find the Shark less stable during normal vacuuming.
Shark has included a variable suction lever on the wand of the vacuum. There is a sticker covering the lever that says: To make the machine easier to use on carpet, set the suction power to MIN. I still shake my head every time I see that. I have NEVER complained that a vacuum did too good of a job at sucking up dirt, as I’m sure not many others have either. After all, isn’t that the point of buying a vacuum? Why would you want less suction and cleaning performance?
    CONCLUSIONS
The new Shark works great!! It is easy to use, super maneuverable and does a great job at sucking up dirt that I would have sworn didn’t exist. The vacuum is light weight and can be easily detached for cleaning stairs and high places. The LED lighting is bright and well placed, something that can’t always be said for others. The HEPA filtration system is one of the best on the market and that oh so clever self-cleaning brush and agitator is just the icing on the cake.
At the end of the day, there really isn’t anything not to like about the Shark vacuum.

Shark really takes a bite out of dirty floors with this one. Easy set up out of the box and has a quick guide printed right on the lip of the box. A couple of clicks and I was done.

It comes with a crevice tool, a flatter pet hair/sofa tool kind of head and a precision tool that is smaller than the cervices tool and is perfect for small areas like behind the fridge or washer and dryer or even doing the dryer lint trap. The precision tool also has a soft brush part that slides forward to give you that soft touch for windowsills or trim work. I really like all the heads but would have liked a full-size soft brush as well. No biggie though. The precision head is about the size of a United Stated Quarter coin.
I have a nice battery powered stick vac which does a great job but if you really want a deep clean you really need the power and Shark brings it. I started in my closet and was shocked with just how much stuff it pulled out (see pics). I hit the bedroom next and was really happy how the Shark felt and moves for such a powerful vacuum. Turns and pushed and pulled nice and easy and smooth. I don’t like the chord on vacuums generally, but it is a fair trade off with the Shark due to the amount of debris it collects and the clean it provides! Where does all the debris come from??? Vents…clothes…me… gross!!!

After doing the carpets, again…awesome job…I transitioned to the hard wood floors. The shark has a setting on the power button that is for carpets and hard floors. I like that the head can do both and I don’t have to flip a head or change a head to get great results. No problems. I will probably stick to the lighter stick vacuum for the hard wood floors and save the shark for the hard lifting on the carpets. The wood floors just don’t get that dirty and the Shark feels a bit clunky rolling around on the bare floors as opposed to the carpet which feels just right in.
So I vacuumed up the house and now it was time to try out the lift away part. I popped the canister off and turned it into an easy to transport carry unit. It is sturdy and feels good. Did some base boards but this is where I would have liked a full size soft touch brush. The crevice tool, I was afraid would scuff my white trim and the pet hair flatter one was just to big and rigid, and the precision tool was great for the window sills on the inside of the window but is kind of small for the baseboard trim. I might look for an after market soft touch brush because I really love the horsepower this vacuum brings! The precision tool was awesome for around the fridge and in the car for all the nooks and crannies. I really loved the carry lift away for the cars!!! Incredible!
I also should note that their claim about no hair wrap is true. I vacuumed my wife’s vanity rug (which has a lot of long hair on it at any given time and no problems with hair.
Emptying the vacuum was also very easy! Shark has done an awesome job with this Vacuum! It’s a winner.

Vacuums is one area I’ve never truly given much thought to, … turn it on, roll it around the floor and suck up the dust and pet dander.
Given the chance to review the new Shark Ninja vacuum I didn’t hesitate at the opportunity. My wife is hooked on the brand, with Coffee Maker, Blender, Knife set, and now this vacuum.
I was able to compare it to a 2nd from top Dyson, and upper level Bissell.
This vacuum assembly was most impressive of all, with simple instructions, and snap and click assembly. Simple, done, no instructions needed.
While this Shark Ninja does many things right, it’s not perfect, as are any of the 3 in this comparison. For starters the front LED headlight could be brighter.
The Bissell wins this category by showing my wife and I where the problem spots of having 5 pets are. The Shark Ninja is 2nd, while the surprisingly poor Dyson a dismal 3rd place in light illumination.
As far as suction power I was unable to discern much of a difference between the 3 vacuums. All feel like they stick to the carpet quite tight.
One thing I liked a lot about this was the steering felt like I had more manuverability. I’d give this Shark Ninja the top spot, even above the easy to turn Bissell, and far ahead of the cumbersome Dyson.
Ease of emptying the cartridge is pretty much a draw between the three, easily removable cartridges are not a differentiating factor imho.
One area this Shark Ninja excels is that the main canister is fully removable. On hard to reach places the Bissell is not as easy to pull away, and instead I use the suction hose attachment to get the pet fur that’s congealed in the corners.
The Shark Ninja seems much easier to pull off the base and carry up the stairs, and suction around hard to get areas. The Dyson, albeit oder design, does not offer anything like this.
    Pros
    + Easy Assembly
    + Excellent Suction
    + Long cord
    + easy canister empty
    Cons
    -headlight could be brighter
-tendency to suck over cord and not give it back
-feels slightly plastic, unsure of reliability
    * Not much else to dislike, really enjoyed this
    Conclusion
While not perfect, this Shark Ninja vacuum has a lot going for it. If I were buying again, and had the following 3 choices, this, the Bissell and the Dyson, I’d probably pick the Bissell as #1, this as #2 and unfortunately the most expensive of the bunch, the Dyson as #3 (disappointed I spent 2x on it).

    THE BREAKDOWN:
This Bissell Upright Shark Rotator Lift-Away Upright vacuum with PowerFins and self-cleaning brush rolls hits a lot of the targets you want in a vacuum. This vacuum is very flexible if you have a home that has many different flooring types. I personally have 90 percent hardwood and 10 percent carpet with 2 dogs. Overall, this product performed very well on all surfaces. It is lightweight and has options for maneuverability. Right out of the box it was simple and easy to use. The setup was very simple and fast.
I have used this vacuum extensively on carpet and hardwood floors. I found that the vacuum performed very well. The light design made this vacuum easy to use. I have one rug that has a long napp and the vacuum performed well.
The vacuum hose seems cheap and not very flexible like I am used to.
The lights are one of my favorite features of this vacuum. You do not know how much hair and dirt are on your floor until you see it with the lights on this vacuum. I was surprised the first time I used this machine.
Emptying the canister could have been thought out a little more in my opinion as you have the top button to remove it from the machine and then to dump you have to push the button on the bottom of the canister getting dust and debris on you sometimes. I think the button to dump should be the one that releases it from the vacuum itself.
The noise level is average as far as vacuums go. I didn’t really notice that it was louder or quieter than previous vacuums that I had owned.
One last thing to mention is the power cord. The upper cord racking arm is on the wand, and I found this to make the wand too wide to use in small places. The cord is not as long as I like, and it is made of stiff like material and is not very malleable. That is just a personal preference.
    PRO’s:
    -Fast easy installation
-Had all the necessary parts to install
    -Nice lights
    -suction settings
-Can remove the canister and hose from the base
    CON’s:
-Button to empty canister is on the bottom
    -Cord and hose are stiff
-The power cord top holder on the wand makes it very wide
    SUMMARY:
Overall, this product worked well and as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for a device like this.

SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM WITH POWERFINS & SELF-CLEANING BRUSHROLL (ZD402)
    MODEL:ZD402
    Best Buy Tech Insider Network
HIGH POWER UPRIGHT VAC WITH LIMITATIONS
    OVERALL
I love the looks of the SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM somehow it is both retro and futuristic at the same time. We’ve mostly been using “STICK” vacuums, (also Shark) for the past 4 years, so it took a while to get used to the heft of an upright again. I like the dust bin capacity of an upright as it seemed we were always emptying the stick vac’s several times per day of cleaning. The SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM has a nice large capacity dust bin. It is powerful. I have a few minor issues listed below and it is up to you to determine how much it matters. Some of these issues are mostly unavoidable due to the dual function as a standalone canister vacuum, instead of only an upright. So, there are some tradeoffs. If you think of this as a portable canister vac with attachments, that is closer to the mark.
There are a ton of features and a lot to like about the SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM
    – Good Variety of Attachments
    – On Body Attachment Holder (but only places for 2 of the 3 included attachments)
    – Strong Power, and easy to use
    – Sturdy Construction
    – Large Dust Bin, easy to empty / clean
    – Long Power Cord, enough for about 15×25 room
    – No Clogging from Hair
    – It can stand upright on its own, unlike most stick vacuums
    – It has good under counter clearance, but does not go as flat at other Sharks.
    WOOD FLOOR PERFORMANCE
Most of our house is wood floors, and I like to give them a good vacuum before I mop them.
ISSUE #1 – The SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM, really only picks up dirt on the forward push, not the backwards pull. I found on the backwards pull, it was only shoving a lot (most?) of the dust / dirt back into a pile, but not picking up most of it (bits of leaves, bread crumbs, etc). This meant that it took at least 2X the effort to vacuum a hardwood floor. Instead of picking up in both directions, the back stroke was wasted effort. Afterwards I had to go around and find all the little piles left behind. So, the effort was more like 2.5X.
    CARPET PERFORMANCE
Overall a good deep clean, I really felt it was doing a great job pulling up dirt.
ISSUE #2 – The SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM is harder to move on a carpet than I’ve experienced with other sticks or uprights, there is no carpet height adjustment, you really have to push and pull it firmly, it does not drag itself along like other vacs. I tried decreasing the suction power and that helped a little, but not that much. It still took a lot of effort to move it. I assume due to the weight.
    GENERAL PERFORMANCE
True to advertising there was no hair in the roller after using the SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM. My wife sheds like a Collie and I usually have to stop vacuuming 2 or 3 times per session to cut away the hair or clear clogs.
ISSUE #3 – Power buttons are not on the handle, they are on the canister, which makes sense when in canister only mode, but there should have been some way to have it in both locations. When I have to stop the vac to move tables and chairs, there is a lot of bending over to hit the buttons. Likewise, there is no foot on/off switch found on most uprights.
ISSUE #4 – No Shoulder Straps when using it as a canister vacuum. It would have been nice to have something other than the handle to carry it around with, in this mode. It gets a little tedious having to lift the entire vacuum while using just the wand and canister. In “Lift Away” mode you always have to carry the canister, or it falls over too easily. So that means you have one hand on the canister and one hand on the wand there are no hands left (for most of us) to move things around as needed. It is light enough that a should strap would be welcome to free up your hands.
ISSUE #5 – The roller is already showing some wear after only one use. There are little rubber strips that I assume carry dirt to the hose. They are made of a soft foam rubber and that foam seems to already have small chunks missing and rough spots after only 2 rooms (Kitchen wood floor and Bedroom Carpeting). Maybe this is normal, as long as the wear does not accelerate it should be OK.
ISSUE #6 – There is a little “ball” clip on the hose to attach it to the main metal stick. I light breeze causes the clip to come out of the socket. It just means the hose is flopping around, which is not a big deal.
As I said most of these are minor issues. I am only highlighting them in case they are big issues to you. I still think this will be our go to vacuum for carpeted surfaces.
    SETUP
Everything was very well packed and wrapped internally for protection. The quick start guide made it easy to know how everything went together due to its strong suction power and large dust bin.
    CONFUSION?
The only thing I was puzzled by is there was a 3rd attachment not mentioned in the instructions. It seems to be a wand for detailed close-up delicate cleaning there is only one picture on the box where they call it a “precision dusting tool”. There are only 2 places to attach it that I have found. You can attach it at the end of the metal stick which puts it too far away to use and causes the vacuum to fall over, or detach the metal stick and connect it at the handle (making the handle sort of a coupler between vacuum and accessory), then you have a bulky handle dangling around and crashing into things. Really, in either position, it can’t easily be used with one hand because it is a flexible hose and you need to hold the vacuum to keep it from tipping over, while also trying to hold the end of the precision wand tool. This limits the “reach” to your own wingspan.
    CONCLUSION / RECOMMENDATION
I think the SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM is suffering from multiple personality disorder. It is neither a great upright nor a great canister vacuum. In general, I love SHARK products, but I think this one is not a great fit for me. I would give it “C” as an upright (too hard to move / control / no carpet height adjustment). Its main saving grace as an upright is super strong suction and large dust bin. As a canister vac, I would give it a “D”. It requires always both hands to operate, and sometime 3 hands. It’s main saving grace as an upright it that it is very light and powerful.
I’m sorry to say, I don’t recommend the SHARK ROTATOR LIFT-AWAY UPRIGHT VACUUM.

The Shark Rotator Lift-Away vacuum is a vacuum that I don’t dread to use!
See, my previous upright vacuum seemed solid in its performance. It vacuumed debris from the carpets and hardwood floors. And it even had a cleaning brush that was ‘tangle free’ which meant there wasn’t any twisted string, hair, etc. to deal with. However, it felt that the tangle-free cleaning brush was a tradeoff for a well-performing machine.
The Shark Rotator Lift-Away isn’t clunky or awkward. What I mean by this is that it is easy to maneuver around your home. Whether you are vacuuming carpet or hardwood flooring, the Shark Rotator glides across both types of surfaces.
The suction that is produced from this Shark is pretty amazing since it pulls debris from the wall and corners whereas I always needed to release the vacuum wand to get the same corners and edges. Speaking of the vacuum wand, the Shark Lift-Away’s wand is EASY to utilize. Press a button and it’s unlatched, allowing you to quickly and easily reach those areas that the main vacuum head cannot to get those pesky dust bunnies that dwell in the darkness. There isn’t any pulling to remove the wand nor is there any hard pushing it back into place.
I have carpeted stairs that my cats love to sleep on which creates the need to vacuum those stairs at least once a week. To be honest, with my previous vacuum, I would procrastinate this chore since the old vacuum was heavy, and using the attachments never really pulled up the loose hair. The Shark Rotator has an easily removable canister that allows you to clean stairs easily. Press the bottom release button and the canister releases. When you’re done, the canister simply clicks back into place. Once you hear the click, you don’t have to worry about the canister lifting out accidentally. However, I still prefer to use the beater brush on each step which isn’t an issue now because of how light the Shark vacuum is. I still don’t like vacuuming the stairs but at least it isn’t as dreadful as it used to be. As a bonus, the length of the cord is long, allowing you to vacuum other rooms/areas that stretch across a reasonable distance.
    Carpet and Hardwood Floors:
As I previously mentioned, I have both hardwood flooring and large area rugs. Using the Shark Rotator on them is a breeze. You just press the two-option switch to whatever surface you’re cleaning. When you switch to carpet mode, you can hear the Shark kick into deep clean mode as it pulls up debris from the carpet. Nothing is left behind. Also, the LED light on the Shark illuminates those dark areas, allowing you to see the small items that you might not want to accidentally vacuum such as pet toys or random items that fell out of sight.
    Easy Peasy:
Emptying the canister requires minimal effort. Just press the button and the bottom flap of the canister opens to empty the contents.
The Shark Rotator Lift is a REALLY fantastic vacuum and I cannot think of anything negative to say about it. It performs wonderfully on both hardwood and carpeted flooring. The suction is consistent even when using the wand attachment(s).
I believe you will be very happy with this purchase.
As for the self-cleaning brush roll, after doing some extensive vacuuming not only at my home but at a friend’s home (her vacuum recently broke), there were no tangled hairs, string, etc. that normally accumulate during cleaning.

Shark Rotator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with Powerfins and Self-Cleaning Brushroll offers both portability and powerful suction with the addition of the powerfins to help get all the dust, dirt and debris out of your carpets and off your floors. I have always been a fan of shark because they offer a quality product for a reasonable price, and this vacuum cleaner is no different. It offers the portability of a lightweight canister cleaner allowing you to easily vacuum stairs and remove dust from every corner of your home without sacrificing on power. So, lets go over the features and PROS and CONS on the Shark Rotator Lift-Away vacuum cleaner.
    PROS:
Lightweight Design – You can lift it with a finger
Turns into a canister vacuum cleaner for portability
    Great Suction
    Varity of attachments
    Cord Length (30 Feet)
Powerfins dig deep into carpets to pull up dust, dirt and debris
    Large Dust Collection Cup
Anti- Allergen Seal – HEPA FILTER
    No tools required for assembly
    LED light
    CONS:
    Not enough room for attachments
    Unboxing and Setup:
The vacuum cleaner does require some assembly. It arrives nicely packed in what seemed like recycled material. Assembly does not require any tools, everything pretty much just snaps and locks in together. The setup will probably take a few minutes and you are ready to get cleaning.
    Suction, Powerfins and Maneuverability:
The vacuum cleaner offers impressive suction. The dust and dirt you see in the picture was picked up after my robot vacuum cleaner had already done its duty, and yes, some robot vacuum cleaners do not offer the greatest suction power, but for this vacuum to pick up all that dirt is still pretty impressive.
The powerfins accompany rows of bristles In an alternating patter directing debris, especially hair, toward the center of the roller where is can more easily be drawn up into the dust chamber in the vacuum. The Powerfins dig into the carpets to remove all the dust that other vacuum cleaners leave behind and having multiple women in the house my rollers are usually full of hair and if you have removed hair from a roller before you know that it is not fun. You will no longer have to worry about removing hair and even cleaning the roller and no, the hair does not roll on to the end of the roller, but rather gets sucked in. I have been using this vacuum cleaner daily for about a week now and have not noticed any hair in the roller.
The vacuum is easy to maneuver in any direction with and can basically be laid flat to reach under furniture.
    Lightweight and Portability:
This vacuum is so light that you can literally lift it with a finger. The vacuum weighs about 13.8 lbs. with the roller attachment and 9.4 lbs. with out it. In canister mode the vacuum cleaner is great for cleaning up stairs and up high.
    Filtration:
There are four levels of filtration on the Shark Rotator Lift-Away vacuum. The first is the Lint Screen within the dirt cup, which catches larger debris. Beneath the dirt cup, there is a rinseable Foam filter and a rinseable Felt filter, which prevent particulates from entering the motor. Lastly, the air is sent through a rinseable HEPA filter. The result is a dust and allergen free exhaust.
Overall, the Shark Rotator Lift-Away is powerful and Portable. It has demonstrated its cleaning ability in my household on a daily basis. The vacuum cleaner is easy to maneuver, reaches underneath furniture and allows for easily cleaning of stairs and places up high. If you are in the market for lightweight, versatile and powerful cleaning machine, then this is it.
