Kumandra is a place where humans and dragons peacefully coexist. When sinister monsters called the Druun threaten the community, however, the dragons readily make a sacrifice to save the human race. Hundreds of years later, the same threat returns. It is up to Raya (voiced by Kelly Marie Tran), a lone warrior, to stop them once and for all. She tracks down the last dragon alive. But as she embarks on her journey, she realizes that it will take more than a dragon and its magic to save her world. Directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada.~Jinko Labitag

Featuring beautiful, vibrant art, this steelbook is gorgeous. The movie itself is just as visually pleasing, with a heartfelt story and fully realized world to boot, and a heroine that makes a wonderful role model. This didn’t get the full release it deserved, so definitely check it out if you haven’t!

I was hesitant to invest my time in a movie loosely based on the career of Maraya Carey but my love of Dragons and Disney animation made this one a no brainer. Disney was smart to drop the Ma off of the title characters name by shortening it to Raya, especially after that New Years Eve debacle. I don’t know if she was actually hitting her famous high note while recording her vocals for this film or if they used some older clips off her Butterfly album but they truly sound amazing in Dolby Atmos. You get hit from every angle and it’s quite an experience for any fan of the pop star or dragons. I can definitely say fans of either will definitely find something to enjoy about this film

First, I love the steelbook art. It is truly beautiful. Now, the movie itself was phenomenal. I don’t know why I waited so long to see it. I literally watched it twice, back-to-back. Great movie for the entire family! It has a great message to everyone, not just children, and the laughs and action balance each other. BUY IT, don’t just stream it!

Great Family, Adventure Animation Film! Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when sinister monsters known as the Druun threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, those same monsters have returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the last dragon in order to finally stop the Druun for good. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than dragon magic to save the world–it’s going to take trust as well.

The Steelbook artwork on the inside and outside is beautiful. It’s strange though, the Steelbook itself has three disc slots when it only comes with two discs (one slot on the inner left, and two slots on the inner right). I would have preferred either one slot per page, or have a double slot on the right and nothing on the left so they would include the clips to hold the download card.
Regardless, it’s beautiful so I can’t bash it too hard. Maybe if they release a CD soundtrack later you can use the extra disc slot for that?
