I bought this to be a good 2nd player control for when my mom and I play mario kart together, so I was really glad it has the motion control in it for steering. I don’t know mine was just a one-off, or if all of these are like this, but the rumble on it was incredibly loud!!! It was also really high speed, so the vibration was so strong, it was making my hands numb in the 30mins I played using it, to test it out last night.

Pulled it apart today to find that the two rumble packs were not attached (just floating loose in a cradle hole). I added some foam inside of the little plastic blocks the rumble piece is attached to, and some electrical tape to make it sit really snug inside the holes for it, and what a difference! It’s way quieter now, not as quiet as my pro controller, but quiet enough that the sound of the game will drown most of it out. The vibration itself is still a touch on the strong side, but much more comfortable now. If worse comes to worse, and it’s still hurting my mom’s hands, I’ll just cut the rumble packs out. At least it will still have the motion controls.

**Word of warning to anyone considering opening theirs up – when you pull the controller apart after undoing the silver screws, be super careful!!! You don’t want to damage the white ribbon cable that is on the left side of the controller.

Overall, rumble issues aside, it’s a great controller; I don’t regret buying it. The shape is almost identical to my pro, and it’s a little lighter. Really like the design on it, which makes it super easy to tell the two apart 🙂 I may even get creative and add some paint into the design indents on the center portion (not the hand grips), so that if I buy a second one of these, I can tell all three apart.

Update: So it’s been a month and a half, and the controller is still working great, and my Mom is not gentle with it either haha! Sometimes we play on her switch and sometimes on mine, and have had no issues getting it to re-pair to whichever switch we’re playing on that day. She hasn’t complained about any joystick issues (ie drifting), and she’s starting to kick my butt in Mario Kart, so clearly she’s been playing a lot when I’m at work lol

We bought this controller with high hopes and saw that the reviews were decent. First controller we received had a stuck left button and so we returned it same day and asked for a replacement. Shipping for the replacement was super fast and we were very excited when it looked like all buttons worked. After charging it and starting to play we immediately noticed that the characters would move to the left when you were not even touching any buttons and you had to keep your thumb on the right joy stick to even get your characters to go in the directions you wanted them to go. Very disappointed as we had high hopes but ended up sending this one back as well (same day). They received my return on April 9th and they still have not refunded me my money. The replacement was easy and fast but when returning for a refund they delay, delay, delay. Don’t buy!!!!!! Just pay a bit more to get an OG controller and save the headache and hassle, that’s what we did. Just went to our local target. Wast of time.

Take my word. Some people hate buying 3rd party options because they’re poorly made rip offs. But THIS, it’s REALLY GOOD! Feels great, control sticks are accurate, buttons are responsive. The sticks are more accurate than the last 3rd party controller I bought (Nyko).

    Great alternative. Buy this!

tldr: This is the non-offical Pro controller to get if you’re looking for something not as expensive but close to the real thing.

I have had and used the official Pro controller for a long time. These are my first impressions of one day of use. I’ll update if any issues arise.
–No concerns about battery life. Comes with charging cable but I was able to charge with the cable that came with my Pro controller.
–Feels very similar to the Pro, a bit lighter in weight.
–The joy sticks actually felt a bit more sensitive which took some getting used to. It may be that my original lost some sensitivity but regardless, not a bad thing.
–The vibration was a little rough. It wasn’t as “dull” of a rumble as the original. It isn’t a deal breaker and will likely only be noticable in very rumble-heavy games.

The controller is very comfortable, easy to setup, and works well. It’s got good weight, and the texture offers pretty good grip without being rubbery (whole controller is hard plastic). I played using it for a few hours after letting it charge, and I didn’t see any glaring issues or noticeable drop in battery (according to the Switch controller menu). Comes with a decent length USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and connecting to the Switch’s dock, but don’t expect to plug it in and sit on the couch and use it.

It does have a few quirks, and another reviewer basically took the words out of my mouth, so I’ll elaborate on their comments:
    1) Cannot remotely turn on Switch with home button, only while plugged into dock
-This is sort of inconvenient, but not a complete dealbreaker. I mainly bought this because I’m dealing with Joy Con drift issues on both of my left Joy cons, so if it means I keep a right Joy Con nearby just to power on the switch, or just press the power button before I sit down, then so be it.
    2) Rumble feature is not the same consistency as a Nintendo brand and doesn’t always work at the same situations in games that use the Rumble feature
-Compared to Joy Cons (I haven’t used an official Nintendo Pro Controller), the rumble is MUCH more noticeable, and overall very powerful. I just tested it out playing Animal Crossing and there were plenty of instances that I either hadn’t noticed rumble, or rumble wasn’t present on the Joy Cons. Things like fishing, opening doors, etc. gave a TON of rumble back. Not necessarily good or bad, just something to be aware of.

If any issues pop up as I use it more, then I’ll update my review. Until then, this seems like a great controller and I’d happily recommend it.

THIS CONTROLLER HAS NO AMIIBO SCANNER

a solid controller. But the main reason i bought it. Namely for amiibo support. Is not part of the controller despite advertised as such.

This is an amazing controller. Rumble detection and motion control work perfectly. Awesome for Breath of the Wild, which I bought it for, it makes the game so much more comfortable-which means I’m playing it for hours with no fatigue.

I’m not sure why anyone would pay more when this controller does it all.

    5 stars!

Excellent build quality. Connection was foolproof and the battery life is tremendous. Charged one time after 7 days of heavy play and it still had juice left to spare. Would give 5 stars if it had the ability to wake the system from sleep mode.

I love this controller. I mostly play binding of Isaac (2000+ hours) on switch and this game requires pretty heavy use of the left joystick and right buttons for me. I have two joycons that are now worthless because of that fact, but this controller holds up.

    Pros:
-Feels very good in my hands. I’m privy to the Xbox one controller and this feels like that but somehow much nicer. If there was a clone for Xbox i’d buy one for that too.
-Feels like a very natural switch (hehe) and upgrade from the joycons. Everything is in the right place. Sometimes I tap the screenshot button trying to press select, but that’s nbd to me.
-Perfect weight. It looks like it should feel heavier. It’s not light but it’s not as heavy as an xbone controller so is very balanced.
-Price is extremely fair considering the quality. “You get what you pay for” does not apply here, I feel the quality surpasses the price tag.
-Battery life is outstanding. Playing as much as I do I feel like the battery should due much quicker, but it holds strong well passed my expectations.

    Cons:
I try my best to give a fair, unbiased review, and I honestly can’t find anything wrong with this controller.

In conclusion, if you’re debating this vs a first party Nintendo switch pro controller, I highly recommend this as an alternative. You’ll get the same quality at a much more reasonable price.

As a wireless pro controller, this is a quality product for the price. The main functionality downsides I could find are really minor and include:

*Cannot remotely turn on Switch with home button, only while plugged into dock
*Rumble feature is not the same consistency as a Nintendo brand and doesn’t always work at the same situations in games that use the Rumble feature
    *Shorter battery life

All things considered, none of the downsides should realistically affect access or enjoyment to games.
