The appearence is fine, the utility being a directed flow of heated air at the cost of a rise off the floor. Vents, being placed where they are, close to walls, this is mostly an impediment to vacuuming or other floor care. The unit has a removable vent which direct air to either side and forward and convection can make up for the absence of forward stream. I do not see this as a disadvantage, perhaps being an advantage in not causing so much disturbance by airflow immediately anterior to the vent opening. A problem is when the vent has been placed well before the wall, indeed more than within a mm or so. The device afixes by screws along the back housing where there is a large box opening matching that of the floor opening. If this were to allow reversing aspects and using th affixing screws to the floor with this opening, the new back opening would still divert airflow to the wall unless sealed tight to the wall decreasing stream flux from the main outlet and likewise compromising the heating efficiency. In addition, the unit placed in this manner would have a much heightened vertical axis making the unit more unstable, though perhaps workable with the grate alignment also tilted upwards. I frankly do not understand the second opening. Having a vent grate set by initial HVAC outfitters some inch before the wall, I improvised with a like-grained wood trimmed to suit and screwed to the back ina like manner to that in which a wall would have been positioned. In order to keep the unit from sliding on my wood floor, I utilized carpet tape with dual adhesive which appears to be effective and should not represent any fire hazard at the temperatures experienced in ordinary usage. So far so good. Screw fixation would be a plus for the presumed floor access for carpeted areas. On a carpeted area, I would have perhaps fixed the unit over some metal plate, perhaps over a regular floor grate and perhaps with some more permanent adhesive? Otherwise the unit could not function on a carpet if offset from a wall. I would suggest some provision for adaptation to make the unit more generally suitable to problematic vent placements. Current function is more than adequate and heating stream appears improved in strength and in heating efficiency. Heating bill review will tell.

I bought two of these to cover floor damage area where a builder’s installer put the HVAC in a new home. Perfect fit. The finish is nice, they arrived promptly. The pricing is okay. One arrived without any damage, the other has a broken plastic catch where the covers attach to the frame. I will replace the plastic catches with magnetic catches or metal replacements, low priority job. Pity the plastic was used on an otherwise very nice wooden replacement.

We have an older home we remodeled and could find nice vent covers. These fit perfectly with our rustic look.

Good match for new floor. Had to make modifications after first time furnace cycle to keep front plat from opening on one side.

The little plastic clip that holds the front to the base arrives broken. I called the company that made the floor register and they promptly sent replacement clips. This is a nice looking unit.

It’s just okay, and just barely. Clips arrived broken. There’s a splintered spot at the top of the grill and a drop of lacquer at the bottom. I work in cabinet shop so I can repair this easily, but I shouldn’t have to.

Sturdy, great heavy duty quality. The color is close to a butterscotch wood. Definitely worth the money. I purchased 2 and will be ordering at least 4 more.

The grate was too long by 1/8 of an inch. Now I know why it was returned. I had to sand one side down. Because the grate is already stained and varnished, made sanding it down nearly impossible.
