They run a little small. I would say take your general shoe size and go up 1 and you will be happy. I ended up returning and getting the taller version without the zip side as the next size in these was way pricier. Honestly the zip side seemed a little stiff and may irritate your ankle anyway. It also didn’t seem that useful to leave the boots laced and tied and use the zip side. You can remove them ok with them unzipped, but putting them on you will probably have to untie the laces anyway. Would have liked this height without the zip side. They are also pretty tall for 6″ boot. I went to the 8″ version and they are very tall.

This is my second pair of Danner boots. The first pair I’ve had over 4 years and worn everyday is all kinds of conditions. I wore them everyday until the zipper broke. I bought these because of how good the other Danner boots were. These were terrible. I wore them for only 6 months and the tred was gone. Some how they wore at a weird angle and hurt my ankles to even wear them. I went back to my old pair of Danner boots and they are more comfortable and still have more tred. These are my last pair of Danner boots for awhile. I’m going to give Rocky boots a try.

I’m a long time Danner fan. I’ve got a pair of Acadias that I’ve worn regularly for 15 years and had resoled twice. I also own another pair of Danner side zip boots that held up well but aren’t able to be resoled which is why I bought these. I got these two weeks ago and the rivet on the top lace hole popped. I wear them loose so I wasn’t even cranking on it. Plus they’re side zip so I tied them the first time I put them on and that’s it. They’re comfortable enough just not quality. I normally wear 14D and had to return the first pair I ordered in that size for 14W because they were too narrow. Disappointing product from a company that previously was known for quality and durability.

First thing you notice about Danner boots is the quality of materials. It’s very distinctive when compared to other boots of similar prices. For example the Full Grain Leather that doesn’t peel or flake like other boots.

No hot spots after first day. The GORTEX LINER feels smooth and doesn’t irritate my feet or ankle and yet the boot design still allows my feet to be locked in. The side-zips allows me to take the boots off easily after lacing them. I may try bungee laces to obtain a snugger fit and still allowing me to slip them off. The ankle loop also allows you to slip them on a lot easier. I don’t understand why companies remove the loop.

I give these boots a 4/5 because I have yet to see their durability/wear. They stitched the upper and lower in the areas most prone to separating but I wish they stiched the toe as well. Also I wish the zipper tab was bigger so your fingers aren’t sore after a day of donning/doffing. Also I wish they added ridges to rear of boot where you kick them off. This would prevent wear of sole/upper.

FEATURES: I’m a firefighter so there are some things I look for in a boot and this boot hits most of those needs. Side-zip(I prefer front zips), ankle loop, waterproof, slip-proof and durable sole.

FIT: The boot fits great once you find your size. I’m regularly a size 10.5D in boots. I went with 10E and they fit great. Somewhere between snug and a little give for thicker socks if needed.

I have been a loyal Danner boot fan for 20 years and have to say that I am very disappointed in these. The durability and craftsmanship they had in the past was unlike any other boot out there. I wanted a regular duty boot with zippers to wear along with my Acadias on warmer days and at night so I thought these would be a boot that would last at least 1-2 years because of the name. I got 10 months out ofthem before the zipper broke while putting them on. They aren’t worth the money. I will continue to use my Acadias until they give out and then maybe find another boot brand to be loyal to.

I wear these at work, hiking and ATVing and they are comfortable and absolutely 100% Waterproof. I wore these recently in a rain storm crossing the old railway trail in NFLD by ATV and my feet never got a bit damp let alone wet. They are the first Goretex boots I’ve owned that have stayed completely dry while ATVing. They are true to size and the double E fit my wide foot perfectly. They are the best boots I’ve ever owned.

1-13-2017: Advantages: Excellent/great quality of boots felt immediately. Comfort and confidence felt when wearing these boots. Disadvantages: Not a 6″ as advertised. This boots is either a 7″ or 8″ boot. The the boot (Piping) around the ankle or hugging the ankle is bulky; this section is not compact as shown on the photo in the advertisement here. This bulkiness is felt while wearing it. I need to use the shoelaces to remove the boots. Zipper becomes useless due to the bulkiness around the ankle. CONCLUSION: I’m keeping these boots: The advantages outweigh the disadvantages while wearing them. 1-14-2017 Item returned, reason:. Too bulky and heavy:. Mobility and quickness are impaired.

I’m a fan of danner. I wear their boots at work and they’re very comfortable and durable. Right now I’m wearing the striker torrent 8″ and wanted to try the 6″. On the back of the left heel there was a small ball of stitching or something that was very firm and caused me pain when I walked. I thought I just had to break them in but this isn’t the case because I wore them non stop for about 8 days and the little clump never went away. I think I’ll stick to the 8″ boot.

Very comfortable boot but a bit narrow for the size. Boot seems to be well made. I usually wear Bates M9’s but can’t get them anymore. The thing I like about these boots over the Bates is they have the loop on the back for pulling them on which makes getting them on a lot easier than the Bates. They also have the Vibram sole which is great in colder weather because the sole stays soft.

Danner boots are the best for me. I have mild plantar fasciitis and these are the only boots that don’t hurt my feet. 10 hour patrol shift and feet are fine. Craftsmanship is great as usual. Leather is flawless. If you have narrow feet order medium width. If you have medium or large feet definitely order a wide. Size is true. I’m a 12 across all Danner models. I’ve had 2 of this 8 inch model and these are my first 6 inch model. I get 1 to 1.5 years of life out of these only because the sole isn’t replaceable. Rest of the boot seems to last forever. Five 10 hour patrol shifts a week and I couldn’t imagine not having Danner.

    UNCOMFORTABLE! Rubbing!
I have used Bates for years and enjoyed their price and comfort, just replace entry couple years. Thought I’d take a chance and spend more for the Danner name and see.
The side zip flap was chaffing initially and painful so I tried a few things and just have to fold it properly.
Now the right boot is rubbing my toe when i walk and it’s a relief to take them off at the end of the day.
    – Not sure how long the break in period is but it’s been months. I spent money though and will try to suck it up till its time for a new pair.
