We ordered this table because it seemed the right fit for our needs. I saw some of the reviews saying that there were issues with this product and issues with Safco customer service. Well, they were good as for customer service, they just asked what the issues were and sent me the replacement legs; however, as for the product, that’s another story.

They sent me 2 replacement legs both left and right because I had both legs with bad welds. We got the replacement legs today, and they also had the exact same bad welds. (well, exact in that it’s the same problem, not one of the four legs look like each other, the first bad set and the second bad set.) So, as for the reviews about the quality of this product, I can attest that it is indeed as bad as others have stated. The legs are supposed to be flat so the table can sit flat at 0 degrees, the legs are so lopsided that they can’t even stand vertical without being supported. I would require a machine shop to repair this mess.

A photo is worth a thousand words, so, if you don’t take my word for it, just see for your self. I have included photos of the products, both the original 2 legs and the two new legs. Only 1 in the entire set is even close to being correct, and even it is lopsided. The photos include all the legs lined up in a row, so it is easy to see how they don’t even match each other, much less be proper to the rest of the table. I also flipped the legs over to show the bottom and how misaligned the entire set is. You can also see how parts of the plastic end covers are broken or outright missing. My friend is holding them up in a few photos, because the leg wouldn’t stand up strait. On one of the upside down views, it looks like some of the tops are retracted and the others are not, they are all retracted to the lowest setting, they are off of the floor because the rest of the top part is so off.

I have a project that needs to continue, I don’t have time to wait for more bad legs, I am going to be working toward my money back and will be looking for another table. Stay away form this thing, period. I would suggest to Amazon to even pull this table.

It’s been a great desk for the couple of weeks I’ve been using it. Not too difficult to put together with the help of a second person, but it was missing some holes in the steel legs of the desk, so it couldn’t be properly braced. It’s working fine without the braces completely secured, but as others have said, there are quality control issues with this desk. And for a few missing holes, probably not worth the hassle of returning such a heavy item. We need a few more desks but I don’t think I’ll purchase from this company again, as it’s a bit of a risk and hassle.

As a digital artist, the biggest problem I had when looking for a drafting table was finding something that had space for my laptop. There were very few drafting tables that had a partition with enough space for my computer, and I didn’t have enough space for one of the very large desks.

Considering the number of complaints about manufacturing defects, I was really hesitant to actually purchase this. But when it went on sale for half price, I figured I had to give it a shot, as I had not found anything else that fit what I needed like this desk did.

I went out on a limb and got it. There was a small plastic piece that broke during shipping, but it was completely unnecessary (just a cover for the end of one of the feet), and everything else worked just fine.

BE AWARE: there is a part during assembly that has to be oriented in exactly the right way, and the instructions do not specify that. If I remember correctly it is the little extra arm on the front of the desk that supports the drafting surface. I assembled it incorrectly at first, but aside from that hiccup, everything was fine.

As for the actual desk, I have used it for several months now and I could not be happier with it. It is everything I needed and everything I hoped it would be. Getting this desk has saved me a lot of arm and back pain caused by having a poor setup. My elbow, which used to hurt half an hour into starting work, now can tolerate hours of work with no issue. I am very glad that I took the chance on this one.

Good quality item and it wasn’t difficult to assemble. Just wish it had more pre-drilled holes along the side of the legs to be able to adjust the height if you want to use the table standing versus sitting. You can still adjust the legs higher, but the screws holding the surface up are then just pushing against the legs instead of fitting into a corresponding hole.

Very sturdy and well made. I really like this table. It is adjustable for height in 1 inch increments. I am short so this helps a lot. It can also be adjusted taller for people who need the extra height. The back shelf is height adjusted separately from the table. The shelf can be adjusted down to be flush with the table which adds nearly 10 inches to the flat surface for larger projects. Otherwise, the shelf can be adjusted taller for your desk lamp.

Installation: Took about 1.5 hours to assemble. Not difficult but there are 3 long cross braces, 4 L brackets, 2 brass hinges for the split top and multiple screws. It comes with a small Allen wrench to attach the hinges. You will need a Phillips head screw driver.

Installation suggestion: Put the L bracket in the front left corner of the table on before attaching the Left hinge. The screw for the L brackets needs the Phillips Head screw driver. Otherwise, if your screwdriver is too long, you will have to remove the hinge to install that particular L bracket.

We did have one issue with trying to lower the shelf, but figured out a way to do it. Here’s the easy trick for lowering the shelf. Watch your fingers and arm while using this method to lower the tilting surface – but it can be done safely. Standing behind the table to access the hinge on your left (right hinge from the front of the table). 1. Raise the tilting portion all the way up with your left hand and continue to hold the tilting surface.. 2. Push on the hinge with your right hand and the tilting surface goes down easily. Use your left hand to lower the surface slowly and remove your right hand once you have the shelf coming down smoothly. This trick does not require a great deal of strength, I could do it easily.

And in response to earlier reviews, there are two extending brass hinges both labeled R. The part list on the instructions do show that there should be 2 hinges labeled R. Although this seems odd, they do appear to be the correct parts for this design.
