I installed the Maestro RR when I was swapping out aftermarket head units in my 2012 Highlander for a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX. I had previously been using an AXXESS steering wheel control interface. The Maestro RR combines a steering wheel control interface with an OBDII monitor, giving me the ability to the ability to see CAN bus information and, more importantly, individual tire pressures on the head unit screen. From the factory, the vehicle only has a light on the dashboard for low tire pressure and you have to guess which tire sensor is triggering it. With the Maestro RR, I know which tires are not pressurized correctly on a nice graphical representation of a car. Also, some of the functions (e.g. automatic door lock control) can be configured from the head unit interface instead of having to use the kludgy approach the manufacturer provides.

Tried to use this in my 2016 F150 after using it with good success in my Mustang and 2013 F150. Problems right from the start. Could NEVER get SYNC to work with it. Their website’s “downloaded instructions” were useless, and nonexistent for the actual setup and use. Spent weeks going back and forth between their tech support and Ford dealership, each pointing the finger at the other. Their tech support telling me it was impossible for their module to cause this as many other people with F150’s with my options weren’t having any trouble at all. It was also causing several codes to come up on my ECU, and stopped the Pro Trailer Backup system from working entirely. Eventually pulled it with my stereo to put the factory back in to test the theory that it was this module and stereo causing the issues. And Ford was correct… immediately upon removing this unit and putting my factory stereo back in — everything on the truck worked fine and no error codes..Had to do nothing to “reset” anything. Dont understand this myself.. as mentioned in the beginning I have these EXACT same modules (all of my stereo’s are Kenwood Excelons, so I dont think the stereo is the factor) on my 13 Mustang and F150 and they work flawless. Kind of disappointed because I tried this twice.. Their support had me try again when they had new firmware.. and while some features began to work,, others got worse (it identified my truck as a C-Max) and the ECU codes continued.. so now its back to factory and I have a lot of useless stereo equipment laying around. I guess if you are getting one research in their “support forums” to see if your vehicle is showing up with a lot of problems working with their module.

This wasn’t an easy install but I didn’t expect it to be anyway. After the flashing (web based and only using Internet Explorer) it should have been plug and play but you need to be careful to follow the pictorial instructions because the molex style connectors fit into multiple spots. The first negative is that the wiring harness needed to make the install work is so short I had to wire tie it to the main harness. The second flaw is the layout of the harness slots – they aren’t on one side of the unit causing you to need to twist and bend the short harness to plug everything in. Other than that it does everything promised.

Let me start with the fact I’m extremely tech savy… So this was not to hard to understand and wire. If you have never done wiring, you may want someone to do this for you or assist you. You start by connecting the device to your PC or Laptop, then using the website, you program the device with both the Vehicle and Radio [including serial number] information. This will then allow the vehicle to talk properly to the radio.

Even with the prebuilt wiring harness, you have solder and/or wire crimp the radio’s wiring to the ADS-MRR’s wiring harness. The best thing, and why I gave it 5 stars, the website GIVES you a schematic, including all the wires to use. Within an hour, using small wire butt connectors and soldering iron to tint the wire ends, I had everything wired.

After installation the ADS-MRR had my truck controls talking to the radio perfectly. The coolest part was the ADS-MRR, using the ODB-II port, I could see things like Exhaust Gauge Temp, MAF ratios, Throttle positions on the Radio’s display.

This interface, along with the correct harnesses, allowed me to keep all factory features on my 2008 Silverado 2500HD LTZ. It must be flashed or programmed to your specific vehicle and factory options using a computer. The website does a good job guiding you through the setup by showing you options with drop-down menus specific to your vehicle and all the different available factory options. Uses actual pictures of factory steering wheels to make sure you select the correct options. It also asks for the specific model of your aftermaket head unit and has actual pictures of each unit for reference. Setup only takes a few minutes if you know what options your vehicle comes with. The one and only thing i didn’t like about this interface is that it has connectors on opposite sides and makes for a slightly less neat installation. I moved the factory harnesses around to help make the installation a little neater and less bulky. There was one harness that i wasn’t sure about, so i called the manufacturer and their customer service/tech support was quick and outstanding. i wasn’t on hold at all. just called pressed a number for tech support and someone with perfect english was on the line within a few seconds. i wasn’t asked for any information regarding purchase date, purchase location, or serial numbers of any sort. just asked for vehicle and head unit information and answered all of my questions within about 4 minutes. The person on the line even offered to give me a walk-though of my head unit features. When used with the correct harnesses this interface allows you to keep all of your factory features and even adds some extras (Gages that read vehicle info from OBDII port if your head unit supports it). Please note that at least a little bit of technical experience helps with the installation. If you have never installed an aftermarket head unit before, professional installation may be required.

I haven’t had it installed yet but I have heard nothing but good things about it and at $139 it was an incredible price..
