Happy Texan –
The brush works just fine and (so far) the bristles are staying put.

I HAVE TRIED SILICONE BRUSHES BUT THIS TRADITIONAL BRUSH WORKS WELLBEST FOR BRUSHING PASTRY AND BAKED GOODS BETTER THAN THE NEWER BRUSHES. i FINALLY STOPPED FIGHTING WITH THOSE AND BOUGHT THIS BRUSH. iT TAKES HALF THE TIME TO GLAZE AND BRUSH WITH THIS AND MUCH BETTER COVERAGE,. IT IS STURDY AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY LOOSE BRISTLES; IT IS USED AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES A WEEK.
THE SILICONE BRUSHES MAY BE EASIER TO WASH/CLEAN BUT THIS BRUSH CLEANS EASILY WITH HOT WATER AND DAWN

This brush has been great for my egg wash on breads and pastries and this brush has not shed any hair which is what I was worried about when I bought it. I would recommend!
Bell47 –
It works well for spreading the oil in my pans. Worth the money that I spent on it.

I wish I could give this a better review but I have bought four of these now and every single one snaps apart with the slightest bit of pressure. I was using it to lightly brush olive oil into a container and it snapped apart with a small amount of downward pressure was applied to the bristles.
I figured it was a fluke and ordered a few more (I wanted brushes that were dishwasher safe and not wood because I use them to brush oil into containers and onto bread and pizza dough) but all three of the others had the same issue. Any hint of pressure and the bristle section snaps off and falls into whatever you are brushing, which is sometimes a delicate dough that is then damaged.
Yes, most times a bristle or two comes off during use but if you’re paying attention you can just pull it off of whatever you are brushing. I really don’t mind that, but the problem is that you can’t even brush with it for fear of it breaking apart.
I would be posting a five star review for these if they didn’t have this problem, because everything else about them is exactly what I was looking for.

Loved the fact that this brush has no metal to rust, but we found that it was losing bristles, which we were finding in our food. Ewww.

The pastry brush is nice, but the brush did come loose from the base so we just glued it back on. Works fine.

I really love using this brush. I have used it to brush on glaze on cakes and it covers very well with no issues with bristles being loose or anything like that. It is very clean to use and hand washes beautifully. It doesn’t take a long time to dry either. I have used it a number of times and am really glad I got this one.
