To Ecoflow: I would be happy to test another of these products and help troubleshoot issues, because there is no other device out there that meets my requirements at this price point. When this product worked properly it was exactly what I was looking for.
Ecoflow keeps deleting the River from Amazon and creating a new one in order to erase all the old bad reviews, including the one I left. I went through two of these that I tested for about a month and they were both problematic and had parasitic drain with absolutely nothing plugged into them. In some cases it’d lose as much as 10% per day. In one test I found that the battery had drained about 6000mAh despite only feeding 800mAh to the devices plugged in to it. One of them went from 60% to 0% in 15 hours, and would then no longer charge and had to be replaced. The issues were 100% firmware based, but Ecoflow wasn’t interested in fixing them, but rather just wanted to replace the device for the 3rd time.

The item was purchased for a car camping trip. The battery was fully charged on the night before and kept the fridge running for a full day. We also used a speaker for most of the day as well. Great volume given the size of the product. On a separate day, we used it to power the projector in my camper van and it lasted for at least a full movie length (2.5 hours) and still going. Great value given the very reasonable price!

My Dad is 82 and has a CPAP machine. While he does have a generator it’s not a whole house one. Where he lives loses power pretty frequently. He’s hard to buy for but I thought this would be great for times where power isn’t out that long, or in the night so he can just plug his CPAP into it. Or lamps, tv etc. I knew he’d look up the price and yell at me for spending that much (Dads! hahaha) but he really, really likes it! He can take it to his vaca condo as there is no generator down there because it’s super-portable. I was so thrilled he was excited to have it. He didn’t know things like this even existed. He’s already thinking of places and ways he can use it!

Overall, the EcoFlow is a really nice device. It has some really handy logic in it and shows that EcoFlow payed close attention to the kickstarter and made software improvements users wanted.
I knocked one star off… it’s not LifePo4 and the batteries are not easy to replace.
The lifespan of Lithium Ion batteries is limited (EcoFlow themselves document 900 charges), and there is no easy or moderately difficult way to replace the batteries in the EcoFlow River. Once your built-in batteries die, that’s it. 99% of users are going to toss the thing making more e-waste.
EcoFlow, if you’re listening:
* Made all of the batteries modular blocks like the 288wH upgrade
* *or* change to LifePo4 which has a much longer lifespan (and lower capacity though)

This little thing is fantastic. I own several ecoflow products and this one did not disappoint, just like the rest. Great build quality, feature set and all in all a fair price.
Like others, I got hit with a failure when updating the firmware and my heart sank. But, I did the IOT/reset fix, tried to update firmware again and it picked up from where it left off (nice one engineering team) and everything was fun in about 5 mins. Device back online, charging and discharging.
I use this unit as a temp UPS when I swap the generator from gas to electric. Works perfectly for this situation. Overall very pleased. (and my heart rose back up from the depths of the firmware update sea of dispar)

EcoFlow’s app doesnt work.
1. Read the TOS, they collect your information
2. The app doesn’t work but the unit is constantly pinging the WiFi uploading data
3. Buyer beware when connecting this to your wifi network. It saves all the credentials.
4. The wifi hardware uses expressif inc. this “company” is based in China and Czech Republic. No domestic offices. This is not regulated . Its basically open season on your IoT devices and your network
