How can a major company manage to screw up a basic vegetable peeler is beyond me!

The handle is hard plastic and totally round. There is no attempt to conform to your hand or to provide any give or comfort. Terrible.

Then we have the blade. Instead of a smooth sharpe blade, they decided that it should leave tiny grooves in your food.
Because of this I find myself having to go over areas, several passes to actually remove all the peel. This is wasteful and takes extra time.
The peeler’s design is also poor for the part you need to remove potato eyes etc.

A vegetable peeler is a kitchen tool that is at least 100 years old. It’s simple, it’s basic, it works.
Why would you mess with the aspects that are the most important?
Fitting comfortably in you hand and slicing thin strips off food?

I’d say they went for form over function but the design is boring too.

For those of us who actually cook and want tools that are comfortable and do the job, this is not for you. Stay far away.

I am furious that anyone would foist this horrible crap on the world.

You’ve wasted my time. I shouldn’t have to spend this much time and energy on a basic tool that was already perfect til you got your mitts on it. How stupid are you?

Furious at the quality of the peeler I received. The first time I used it, gently on a regular potato, the blade snapped in half. I usually trust the KitchenAid brand and associate it with a high quality; I won’t anymore.

I’m a fan of the design of Kitchenaid’s handheld gadgets because they fit so well and comfortably in my hands. I have small hands, and although the handle on this peeler seems large, I can maneuver it with ease. The peeler itself doesn’t feel dangerously sharp, yet it peeled my cucumber effortlessly. Additionally, although I was peeling large pieces at a time, it didn’t jam. It also comes with a small plastic cover to go over the peeler part when in storage. The only negative that I’ve found is that after washing it, the silver brand name label part of the handle (where it says “Kitchenaid”) retains water. I have to make sure to press on it with a paper towel to get out the excess and lay it flat in the hopes of preventing rust. So far, so good. It’s a small nuisance, but I’d still buy it again for sure.

This is not a good peeler. I have been very disappointed in KitchenAid’s kitchen tools. I have had to throw away several items that seemed sturdy but just broke in an unexpected way. So I am kicking myself for buying this. The handle is super slippery..which is great when your hands are wet from washing vegetables before you peel them. That was sarcasm, yes. It is also a weird length that doesn’t fit in the hand comfortably. Does it peel vegetables? Yes but so does beard stubble if you try hard enough. (Swedish youtube joke from 5 years ago. I am so hip.). There are better tools out there, I’m sure, I just wish I knew where.

How can you get excited about a vegetable peeler?
After going on a real food, whole food, organic vegan diet, you might be surprised at how easy it can be to get excited about a vegetable peeler. This is my third one from this company and it seems that it’s the only company that can get it right.
I’d much rather buy my peeler at dollar tree, or somewhere cheaper but the fact is this does such a great job .
If you’re considering a vegan diet you might as well get the right tool for the job. This is the brand and the only Brand I want to use (having thrown away a bunch of cheaper useless ones)

If you like speed dialing or speed skating then you are definitely the type who would enjoy speed peeling. Even peels ginger………

My family has a bad habit of buying inexpensive tools.. (scissors that don’t cut, peelers that don’t peel)… I decided to toss all of that junk and get some quality tools for my kitchen…. I was tired of fighting with a darned peeler that clogged or didn’t cut well. I was spending too much time on each vegetable (especially cucumbers and apples), so I researched vegetable peelers. That might seem anal, however just think about the amount of time that you can spend fighting with a darned peeler…. that you resort to a knife just to get it done and end up with a small amount of whatever and a huge rind.

This vegetable peeler had very good reviews (on the internet), so I got it along with another that had good reviews. I am very happy with this peeler. My 10-year-old grandson got to peel apples. He had used the old peeler and was not too keen on using this, however he was quite happy (as happy as a 10 year-old boy can be when given this chore) and he said that he is ready to keep making Waldorf salads or anything else that has a fruit/vegetable that needs to be peeled. It did not clog and glided right through those apples. I think I will get him to eat more vegetables by allowing him to peel them. It is not as comfortable to hold as the rubber-handled OXO, but peels as well.

I liked the handle on this peeler. Unfortunately, the blade on the kitchen aid peeler snapped while I was peeling a soft mango. Upon closer look, the metal blade is extremely flimsy. It’s so thin, I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did – just shy of 2 months.

I’ve been using the same peeler for years because I never could find one as good. Knowing that it’s only a matter of time before it breaks, I broke down an ordered this one. What a great decision! This peeler is very easy to hold and it just slides smoothly through the potato skin as I peel the potatoes. It doesn’t get stuck in the vegetable meat and is very easy to clean. If you do a lot of peeling, as I do, you want a peeler this easy to use and that is so affordable.

My go to vegetable and fruit peelers. Good peeling action with good handle. No sharp point on the end to dig out veg/ fruit problem areas but this is a minor issue. Definitely worth buying.
