Last time I had a Dymo label clicker is about 20~30 yrs ago. This one works fine, almost the same as the old one. The trick is to hold down a bit firm as you click for each letter/number, do NOT release too fast, do stay and hold down for half a second before release. If you add a space at the end before cutting, your label will come out better looking as well. However, I do wish it comes with a different font.
UPDATE: I first bought the xPress Pro, it works well, now I have the Office Mate II, it also works just fine, but with larger more square font!! See attatched photo, the real difference between the two models are $$ and font size. The one on the top “CELINE” is from office mate II, bottom label “dymo” is from exPress Pro. Because Office Mate has a tape advancing feed knob, so there is no “space” on the wheel.

You could say I’m going Dymo crazy! I’m trying to do so in the least tackiest way possible, though. I had originally decided to get one of these label makers to label my Fujifilm Instax mini pictures, and it works great! I also decided to label a few other things, hence my craziness. I haven’t had any problems with it at all. My only suggestion is to spin the wheel in one way; if you start clockwise, keep going clockwise and vise versa. I noticed if I was on “t” and decided to go counter-clockwise to the letter “o”, it would get stuck. But if I continued scrolling clockwise through all the letters to get back to “o”, it wouldn’t jam at all. Please see my pics below (sorry that they’re sideways)! I also added a little tidbit in one of my pics about the gun cuts and perforation.

I used this pretty regularly for approximately 3 weeks. It wasn’t perfect – letters would change position (a little bit up or down) for no apparent reason, putting them out of alignment with other letters in a word – but it was no biggie. When I went back to using it after a couple weeks, I found that it suddenly couldn’t punch out any letters. I went online and found some videos showing that the arrows where the scissors icon is has to be aligned (no mention of this in the product packaging). I tried that and it seemed to work…until I reached certain letters (especially E, F & G). I tried to adjust the alignment slightly and tighten the screws in the back, but nothing worked. At least Amazon was extremely responsive and refunded me on the same day I sent a message complaining about the issue (it was several months past the refund window at this stage).

Ele falha um pouco, sim. Pode dar um pouco de erro ao iniciar ou finalizar uma palavra. Mas a sensação de saudosismo e a estética final do adesivo é tudo que eu esperava. Recomendo imensamente. Mas alinhe corretamente sua espectativa.

I love this little label maker. The labels are just freaking adorable.

The bad reviews are in my opinion mostly user error. Except of course for the ones where the machine is broken.

Once I select the character I want, I use both hands to squeeze the trigger and hold for a couple of seconds before releasing and the embossing comes out very nicely.

-The labels are definitely on the smaller side, smaller than I thought but they still work great for labeling smaller items. If you’re labeling larger things you might want to spring for the larger model. Or even if you’re just more spendy than me, the larger seemed too expensive for me.

-The labels have really good stickiness. It takes me forever to take the back off but that’s because I have very short nails and very bad coordination.

-It doesn’t feel sturdy. The label maker is very lightweight and feels cheap. If I dropped it on hard flooring I think it might break altogether or maybe that the back cover where the tape loads might pop off for good since it feels delicate. For the price I don’t mind, I don’t expect it to last forever and when it does break I will buy another one.

If you look at my SAMPLE 1 in my pictures you can see that you should definitely put a space AFTER your last character or the label gets cut too short.

If you look at SAMPLE 2 you can see that white shadow on the upper left corner. If you don’t want that marking on your label, put a space BEFORE your first character and AFTER your last character.

If you look at SAMPLE 3, you can see it’s not as clearly embossed as when I use two hands to squeeze the trigger.

I was a little skeptical when I read the bad reviews for this label maker, but I ended up not having any issues. If you want precise, evenly spaced, perfect labels this probably isn’t for you, but bought it for the old-school feel and it fulfilled my need. The letter dial is easy to use, as is the cutter function. They are sticky enough to adhere to the surface, but not so adhered that they’re impossible to get off. Some other reviewers said it stopped working after a couple of uses, but I’m 50 labels in and it’s still working great.
A couple of tips based on the bad reviews I read:
-I found pressing down really hard on the clamp made the letters worse. Just squeeze the clamp until it clicks and the letters will come out fine.
-When cutting your label, i pressed down halfway first to get better spacing between the last letter and the end of the label, before clamping all the way down to cut the strip.

I AM OBSESSED with this labeler!!! I think I have labeled almost everything there is to label in my home 😅 The trick with this gadget is to press hard or else the letters won’t imprint. As you can see in the video I am going pretty fast but I’ve been using this for a while now and have gotten the hang of it. Even refilling the label is not very difficult once you’ve done it once or twice. A little tip (as this happened to me): if the label is not imprinting it’s because you have to make sure the black arrows are aligned with each other (see picture for reference). Overall I definitely recommend this little gadget, especially if you DIY. I don’t often write reviews unless the product really impresses me, so this says a lot. One of the best purchases I’ve made on Amazon, and the price is right!

Back when I was a wee nipper my popz had one of these squirrelled away in his office out of the reach of us pesky kids. Little did he know I had found his stash and was eagerly clicking away creating labels for the lampposts of my neighbourhood. Fast forward to now and I have a grown up job and grown up pocket money to spend on pointless crap like this.
This product is epic. You click, it creates. Full stop.
Label your household items, price up those products or write your name and stick all city. The world is your oyster.

Last century, we had label makers like these in every office and I was excited to buy one for my daughter to use. This label maker is not nearly as good as the ones of years ago. Most importantly, the letters are much smaller than the older label makers output. As a result, the letter quality is not as good.

When I saw the output from this DYMO, I thought I was mis-remembering what the output from this kind of label maker looked like. So I bought a ROTEX 880 for twenty one ninety nine (incl shipping) from eBay. I just received it, put tape in it (I used one of the extra rolls of black tape that came with the Dymo) and the output of the ROTEX 880 is exactly what I had hoped for. (See attached photo.)

The DYMO is a lightweight plastic thing. That wouldn’t be a problem if it stamped a quality tape.
