I bought this product, but I downloaded the manual before I eve opened it. I also watched some videos. I simply wanted an accurate PH reading from my pool water, but the product has very stringent maintenance requirements which may be OK for commercial applications, but too much just to get a pool PH reading. The meter must be stored in a specific wetting solution, and if it goes dry, the manual warns that the meter will be rendered useless. It requires constant calibration as well. This meter may have a good reputation for its accuracy, but the tradeoff in maintenance is not worth it for a homeowner. I never used the meter, but I think the value for the money simply is not there given ongoing costs to maintain the accuracy.

Should have listened to the other reviews saying the same thing. Product arrived with salt buildup and scratches/scuffs on the pen. This leads me to believe the pen has been previously returned, which only begs the question: why?

Bluelab pens come highly recommended, and the quality of this pen is questionable to say the best.

Following instructions on calibration after it’s primed with storage solution will tell me if the pen works, but the fact that this pen is not advertised as USED is blatant disregard for your customers.

Same as other reviewers I received my pen and after spending a full 5 minutes trying to figure out how to get the cap off (it was stuck HARD because of the dried out foam inside). I let the pen soak for 24hrs and when I went to calibrate I get the “Er” on the screen. The calibration is off by .1-.2. I will have to find a store to buy off the shelf I guess.

The little piece of cardboard inside the box that held the pen seemed like it had been opened before and I found that odd.

I bought this blue lab PH pen wanting more accurate readings than what can be provided with the solution PH testing kit. (Add drops to that small clear container, shake to agitate and record color reading) However this PH pen is a joke when it comes to consistency. My $2 testing kit consistently gives the same readings, however this PH pen seems to have a mind of it’s own with readings varying day to day with the same solution mixture. (And mind you I start with distilled water and use oral syringes for measuring so I know for a fact I should be getting very similar readings from feed to feed).

So I gave it the benefit of the doubt and bought some more calibration solution. Sort of helps but again it seems to only maintain it’s baseline for a day before falling out of wack again. For any new growers wondering if this is a worthwhile investment, I’d just pass. Get the small solution based PH testing kit and forget all the calibration and BS that comes along with this product. Cheers to all hope this saves even one person some money!

I have their EC meter which is awesome and this felt the same at first. After following all the manufacturer’s guidelines it now displays oo89 on the screen and has what appears to be a missing section where there SHOULD be glue but isnt…

Edit: After buying this product ELSEWHERE, and NOT on amazon… I now have a legitimately NEW product… Stay away from highstreethydro…

Well after 3 failed blue lab products, qll stored per service manual i purchased this meter making a grand total of 4,this meter was bought due to absolutely needing a ph reading while waiting on the technical support to basically tell me to kiss my ass, days and days went by with no response to a simple question….so this meter was purchased in a emergency situation, this one failed in 2 months…..warranty? Maybe but the hell with this, they are all going into the trash, these meters after proper calibration every 2 weeks both ph/tds have been absolutely nothing but problem creators,i would have been better off not even using them and taking my chances.never again.choose wisely.

Fast and stable read, build quality not on par with EC wand though.
Overall I think would have been better to get Apera Instruments PH60 Premium kit as has a replaceable probe and lots more free solutions.

Not a happy camper here, no where in the description does it state that your gonna have to spend another 50.00 on calibration solution, cleaning solution, and hydration solution. And the tiny packets that come with it isn’t enough to even get you started on hydrating the unit. Come on bluelabs and Amazon get your stuff together. This pen is already expensive, but having to add extras after the fact is ridiculous, especially if it’s not upfront in the description

When I got the box looked like it had already been rummaged through. Didn’t think anything of it. It wouldn’t calibrate so I chalked it up to maybe it’s old calibration solution. So I bought a new probe care kit that had all the stuff. I went to start cleaning and calibrating only to find the glass probe was broken and of course it’s passed the return date. If you do buy this pen, and the box looks like it’s been pilfered through, return it immediately, don’t wait around.

    Slow And Slugish,
Takes around 1 minute to get a solid reading,
Needs expensive solutions every 30 days.

I was scared to but another one of these after reading the reviews and sure enough I am sold a bunk pen! The packaging was already opened and the pen seemed used. It had a layer of crusted material on the probe and after Rinsing and calibrating the pen with what was provided it doesn’t read accurately like my blue pens I’ve had in the past. It’s off a few decimals and driving me crazy. Pretty disappointed in this purchase , if they know it’s something that drys out and doesn’t work properly they should cycle them out before selling them and not sell a meter that’s sat on a shelf for ages..

Really like this. Feels cheap quality but it’s a serious piece of gear.

Shame that maintaining it will probably mean I have to sell a kidney.
