    Got this lightbulb for free after getting our second Echo dot. Worked fine and dandy: colours were nice, dimmable, etc…and then it stopped working. Alexa said the device was unresponsive. Reset in 3 times and still not able to detect it. I see I am not the only one experiencing the same problem. Glad I didn’t spend money on this bulb. It is nice while it works…but useless after you lose connectivity.

    I have tried numerous times to get this bulb to connect to an Echo Dot and Echo Plus. I reset the bulb numerous times as per directions. Nothing.

    I have a few Sengled, soft white blue tooth bulbs, which “have” had some occasional but temporary connection problems. This one was my first Sengled “bluetooth” colour bulb and basically came free with an echo show. Installation was easy and took about 2 minutes to detect.
    Sengled says that this bulb is capable of 16 million colours, however in the Alexa App you only have 5 presets of white and 15 preset colours. You have to download the Sengled “Bluetooth” App for greater colour control with your phone, but once paired to their App, it is can no longer connect to your echo device. I have defaulted to 100% brightness/soft white as it seems the most pleasing but not as bright as my Kasa lightbulbs.
    To date, I get a daily connectivity issue from my Echo show (with this bulb only), it is exactly 15 feet away in an open ceiling fixture with no obstruction between them (sengled states range of 30 ft).
    I tried pairing it with the Sengled “bluetooth” App, in order to see if there was a firmware update, but it was current.

    Pro:
    1) Easy setup.

    Cons:
    1) Constant Connectivity issues;
    2) Brightness could be better;
    2) Very little colour control using Alexa App or echo device;
    3) If you pair it with the Sengled Bluetooth App on your phone, you can no longer control it with an echo device.

    Save your money…Even free this model bulb is not worth the aggravation. If it “was” free with an echo, try it in other locations/ lamps if you are experiencing issues. If you do want to get the 16 million colours you can download the Sengled app and pair it with that, however you can no longer control it with an echo device (There is no Alexa skill for the Sengled ‘Bluetooth” bulbs). This one is going in my “give away” pile, perhaps it will work better for someone else with their echo device. Next time I stop at Walmart, I might give the “Great Value Wiz” bulb a try – anything has got to be better.

    Despite the enclosed brochure with tiny tiny writing stating these bulbs are engineered for “frustration free setup” I found it the exact opposite.
    I clicked them 5 times to reset and try again, I clicked them 10 times to reset and try again. One thing I did notice, besides them not paring my my alexa app or my dot, was that the plastic base got very hot. Maybe its little brain was about to explode or something, but these accursed bulbs didn’t ever connect.
    I sent back the first one then they sent me a replacement, which also didn’t work. I got on chat with someone from India and they regretted my frustration so much that they sent me another one for free…. at least they work as light bulbs.
    Fortunately my first bulb was included with my dot purchase, and I sent it back. Now I have the replacement which I was going to send back along with the “smart plugs” which also wouldn’t connect.
    Alexa was no help and actually stated “I can’t help you with that” so don’t expect too much.
    Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky people who gets these to work, but so far none that I’ve gotten have worked after repeatedly trying to pair them.
    My advice : Don’t.
    UPDATE: after speaking with customer service (yes I went that far) I was informed that there is evidently some kind of software problem that prevents paring. You might think they’d tell you this when you bought it? No not your friends at Amazon.
    So they’re supposed to email me when that software issue gets resolved. In the meantime I have two “smart” light bulbs that work as light bulbs but I really want the pretty colors and the ability to turn them on and off from miles away. Waiting, waiting, waiting.
    Take this into consideration when you buy this faulty pos.
    Update number two; for some reason I tried to pair the lightbulb again with my Alexa and it actually worked this time!!! So I am adding several more stars to my rating. I don’t know what kind of mysterious Internet magic happened but I did not get an email from Amazon Telling me the software had been updated. I don’t expect miracles But somehow this happened and I now have two bulbs that work. Color me surprised!

    This was awesome… Until it stopped connecting with Alexa. I was able to get it to reconnect the first time by resetting the lamp. The second time, it would not reconnect, despite resetting multiple times. I’d return it, but the return window has lapsed. I would not recommend this lamp.

    Would never have purchased this based on the reviews. Received it for free with my Echo. I have to agree with the majority of reviews. When it works its great, but it always looses connection and rarely works. Also can’t be set up on more than one device if you’re using the app, which I am because it never connects with Alexa, a little more reliable with the app itself.
    I would not recommend this to anyone.

    This colour light bulb is always shown as “not responsive” in Alexa app. It may or not work at random opportunities after I ask Alexa to operate it. Even after Alexa turns it on, the Alexa app still doesn’t get a response from the device. The app shows it in the OFF state. Alexa cannot turn it off or change colour after it is on.
    It was offered as if it was “free” with the echo dot purchase. If I bought an echo dot itself, the cost is the same as an echo dot and this light bulb combo. Amazon actually shows it as an “purchased” item with the price of about $12, which is bizarre

    This is my second sengled bluetooth light bulb that only works with Alexa. The first one was not a colour light bulb. They both acts the same way after installing and recognized by the Alexa app: NOT responsive

    Looking up products on Amazon, I always go after the low scores and see what people wrote; to see if there is actually something bad about the product, or people not knowing certain things, especially in technical products. This bulb was free with an Echo Dot, so it didn’t matter too much either way. But I’m adding more and more smart home items in my home, so I thought I’d check it out. Right away a couple of things in the negative reviews caught my attention that I believed might be why people were giving this a negative review. And after having the bulb for a while, I believe I am right.
    First, and most important that I believe a lot of people are missing. This is a smart device that needs constant power. If you plug this bulb into something, if you turn off that switch to turn off the light, you cut power to the bulb. That means you cut power to the smart functions – bluetooth, control, etc. And when you turn the switch back on, you need to give it time to ‘boot up’. Turn on, reconnect, etc. Same idea with bluetooth headphones. When you turn them on, music doesn’t play instantly, it needs to boot, connect, etc, and then play. I realized this when I saw the reviews, and when I got the bulb, I put it in a lamp close to Alexa, renamed it with Alexa turned on the switch, and left it on ever since. We control it by voice control only, and have never had any issues of what others have complained about.
    Second, and simply, something that people may confuse. This is BLUETOOTH, not WIFI. So it does not have the same range. It needs to be a certain distance from your Alexa base.

    Replacement for a Phillips Hue that lasted 3 and a half years. I couldn’t bring myself to spend the money for another Phillips Hue. I have 30 to 35 devices on my wifi mesh system at any given time, consequently I didn’t want to add anything else. This Bluetooth bulb was easy to set up, literally took less than a minute.
    And at a third of the price of the Phillips bulb, I couldn’t be more pleased.
    Will update on longevity in a few months.
    Highly recommend.

    Just randomly this bulb stopped working. I asked Alexa to turn on the light and she advised it was “unresponsive.” Tried resetting the bulb, resetting Alexa, and even disconnected the router. Then I just became upset that I wasted so much time on a light bulb. I wouldn’t recommend. Try another brand. I’ll be doing just that.

    I got the bulb to connect to my Echo no problem, and it worked, for about 4 hours. Then my Echo said it couldn’t connect to it anymore. I reset the bulb to try to reconnect and nothing. Did this a bunch of times and my Echo can’t connect to the bulb. What a waste.

    These lightbulbs are great when they work. Only thing is that they only work about one day before they stop working. I got multiples of these to sync my upstairs with the alexas. It took a while here before alexa was able to recognize and sync all of them but she did. Eventually as the week went by, lightbulbs would disconnect and i would have to continuously keep on resetting and resyncing different lightbulbs to the point that i dont use them with alexa or bluetooth anymore and just turn them on/off with the regular light switch which wasnt point in my purchase. If it was, thatd be stupidly expensive, yet here i am with $100 worth of lightbulbs that dont do what the’re supposed to. I’ve returned and replaced, determined to get my upstairs synced up but i realize that i should’ve just returned and got my money back because now i’ve waited too long to return because i’ve replaced them numerous times that i kind of numbed it out to the point i forgot. But today, as i look up at my ceiling light, it re-ignited my rage at those sengled lightbulbs. Maybe their bulbs used with the hub would’ve been a better choice but your best choice is not this brand. 1% rotten tomatoes 🍅

    Not happy at all. Got these and they never would connect to my 2.4Ghz home network, so I tried to use their Bluetooth option and that never worked, either.

    You have to go through a finicky “turn on-off three times until flashing” setup, and then the instructions’ pictures don’t even exactly match the app settings so you have to guess what is the same settings it’s instructing you to use. But I don’t even know if that affected the setup since these absolutely, positively never once showed up in my local network and the app never successfully connected—much less controlled—a single bulb. I made sure to test all 4 in case it was one bum bulb, and got the same failure with all 4.

    This seems to be a trend that if a bulb is advertised as really pushing you to use an Alexa or Echo hub, then that means in reality you will never get them to work without one, even if the advertising claims otherwise. If it says “no hub, BUT IT WORKS PERFECTLY WITH AMAZON HOME/GOOGLE HOME,” be prepared to ONLY get them to work in those circumstances. The “no hub, compatible with 2.4Ghz wifi or Bluetooth” is a joke. Maybe they really do work with those hubs, but I don’t particular WANT an Alexa or an Echo right now so I expressly bought bulbs I was told didn’t need those. This was the result.
