As soon as I saw that an 18″ high bed frame was available, allowing storage of full sized plastic totes beneath, I decided I needed this. I live in a 700 sq’ foot space without a storage locker and need every square inch to be well utilized.
– It came in 2 pieces- perhaps you could use them for 2 separate single beds? I could measure if anyone is wondering.
Pros:
– It came packed in a box that was manageable for me, as a woman, to carry up to my condo.
– Instructions were very clear
– The frame was very easy to assemble.
– Frame is sturdy and my mattress is not sliding around on top of it
– There is a full 17″ clearance below the frame which allows the majority of plastic totes to fit comfortably- even larger ones.
– I have a regular ol’ foam mattress and when I sit on my assembled bed now, my feet dangle (I’m 5’9″ so this is a novelty for me).
– I have space to store 8 large Rubbermaid style totes beneath it!
Cons:
– It was out of stock for a long time which is a bit annoying. I tried to talk to the folks on the Zinus US website which has online customer service chat but the chat box sat idle on the days I tried it and nobody answered.
-Though it has a 5 year warranty, if there is an issue that requires repair or review by the manufacturer, the customer has to pay shipping charges (per the warranty doc, pic attached). I can only imagine how expensive it would be to ship a large box containing a bed frame via Canada Post.
– Ordered on a Weds, arrived following Tues, despite being Prime (it came from the US). Amazon warned me about this at the time of purchase but I always find it annoying when Prime items take longer than 2 days (especially since I live in a major urban center where mail comes first before being shipped out around the country.)

*disclaimer* I live in an apartment, if you do too, you’ve found the right review!
Lemme start by saying, my S.O. and I had our mattress on the floor for the first 3 weeks of moving in to our new place. This meant our brand new sheets, comforter, and a few throw pillows, often frequented the floor; they all picked up dust, dirt, cat hair, etc., the usual day to day messes of life. Stepped on, slipped on, you name it, it probably happened. If you’re in this boat, you know, it can be a little frustrating.
I told myself I’d build a box spring, buy a nice bedframe with a headboard, do this right… That was 2.5 weeks after telling myself it would be worth it, looking in local shops for pre built box springs and seeing them for no less than $100, and almost $200 after delivery + taxes.
Well, since I’m here I guess you can imagine how that went. With work, trying to make the apartment feel like home, constantly cleaning and trying to maintain a social life, and without really your own front yard to do the whole building thing, the idea just became a faint whisper. It was around this time I also noticed the closets were a bit cluttered too, but I just told myself, “this was apartment living”
One night, I decided to come to amazon to see if they sell box springs. To my absolute distrust and hesitation, I clicked through some reviews of this platform bedframe. It seemed pretty promising, but some reviews had a couple issues with broken parts and said it felt uncomfortable. I decided to roll the Amazon dice and purchase the platform bedframe.
3 days rolled by and it came, shipped to my apartment and dropped off with a loud “thud” on the front door. The package was heavy and I guess the delivery guy was frustrated from my place being such a frequent stop for him with heavy packages. “Great…” I said, hoping no damage had occurred. The box was pretty beat up too.
I opened it, assembled it (took about 5 minutes of finger tightening wing nuts btw) and plopped the mattress up on it. Thankfully it seemed to survive it’s rough journey from the warehouse to my place, I noticed two things immediately:
1.) This was the answer to making the bedroom feel more like a home
2.) There is a ridiculous amount of storage underneath the bed that simply isn’t allowed for in closets.
I stuffed as many rarely-used items under the bed as I possibly could, which allowed me to straighten up the closets. I even made room to keep the box to the frame in there, just in case the S.O. didn’t like it and we had to send it back.
She came home and also instantly appreciated the look and feel of the bedroom. Needless to say, we did some investigation to see just how loud and sturdy the bedframe is. It’s silent, and unmoving! 😉
I threw the box out after 2 nights of sleeping on the bed, confident in my purchase and ready to guide other potential customers with a humongous review on why they should also take the plunge and try it. It seriously is the perfect bedframe for an apartment. You’ll be glad you tried it!

This is my second one and they are excellent. Easy to assemble and lots of storage!
Dislike: they used canada post instead of UPS and now I have to figure out how to go pick it up. If I wanted to go out and buy something I would have done so but the whole point of amazon for me is that it comes to my door because I dont have the luxury of a car. Now I have no idea how I’m gonna get this big box. Taxis charge extra 10 bucks for a van. Its needless spending when it should arrive to my door like everything from amazon

What an amazing product! We were looking to create as much storage as possible in our guest room. This product fit that bill perfectly while allowing us to use my grandparents old headboard and footboard. In order to attach the headboard and footboard we purchased 2 sets of the Zinus headboard brackets sold separately. After the base was assembled we lined up the headboard and footboard marked a few spots and drilled them attaching them with screws and washers. The set up took no time at all, straight forward and easy to do. Our guest was comfortable and after asking her a ton of questions she had no complaints, in fact she might be purchasing one for her new home! No squeaking or slipping of the mattress as other reviewers mentioned. Holds a ton of storage and we are now considering the SmartBase for our other beds as storage is an issue in our home. Perfect for narrow hallways or stairs and not having to fight with a box spring is always a plus.

Sturdy, easy to unpack and simple to put together. The 14″ height provides room for hideaway storage and rambunctious pets.
It, being a firm foundation also eliminates the need for a box spring. The only drawback was the way I stubbed my toes on the legs. I purchased black insulation pipe wraps(they resemble noodles). I cut them to fit each leg and no more swearing!

A retired Marine gunnery sergeant now at 285 lbs. 69 yrs young and as we say in the Corps :no longer lean but still mean, semper fi. I bought a town house 5 yrs back and as a golfer lower backs are common so I bought a platform bed so I would be lower to the floor when getting up which I felt would take stress off my back. Well last week the bed collapsed, which was made entirely with particle board and cheaply made and was cricking all the time. So I decided to get a metal bed frame that would hold my fat ass and not crick. I’m a guy that researches everything to the 9nth degree whether it be a new vehicle or a loaf of bread. I found the “Zinus 14 inch Smart Mattress” and read that it would hold some 1200pounds! So I, as usual read a ton of reviews. If their claim is correct then it should hold my fat ass up so I ordered one. So here’s my closing. It actually arrived super quick, I live in San Diego, California. The majority of reviews I read were mainly about how log it took to assemble and some parts were not included. The parts are simply wing nuts and a couple bolts. I took the reviews as a challenge so I took a quick glance at the instructional diagram and assembled the whole unit in twenty minutes. I would suggest, which I did, is to get four (that’s all you need) 1/4 inch lock washers to enhance the security of the wing nuts. So once assembled I said to myself once I put my mattress on it I said to myself” Gunny go for it” so I took a big diver upon it and it was like Heaven! it held my fat ass and my old wavy mattress felt great as well also. However, I AM purchasing a new mid-firm mattress to go with this gem of a Zenus Smart Base. Nothing more to say, the product is exceptional, worth every cent, don’t sell it short, it is a must have, LOVE MINE!!

Just received my mattress frame and the initial setup was very easy. After attaching all the components the beds doesn’t make a sound.
I was skepticial at first because I wasn’t sure if it would squeak, live on an apartment. Once I put the mattress on and moved around on it, no squeaking at all.
I recommend it to all those looking for a quiet bed. I will provide an update review if the bed fails and does squeak later on but if you don’t see an update review then know this bed is legit.

Súper resistente, no hace nada de ruido y muy fácil de montar. Viene muy ligero y empacado, muy practico. Es la segunda base de Zinus que compro, ojalá pongan toda la línea disponible en México.
Les recomiendo que se compren el colchón de memory foam de la misma marca Zinus. Una maravilla!!

Pros : La base es fácil de armar y desarmar. Resistente. Firme y no hace ruido. Tienes mucho espacio para guardar cosas bajo de ella.
Se dobla para guardarse y no ocupa mucho espacio.
Cons : La mayoria de los colchones en México miden 1.90 de largo y esta base mide 2.00 de largo. Es fácil pegarse por accidente con las patas de la base.

I purchased this bed frame on June 10th. Shipping was fast and set up was so easy! The height is wonderful. But, I have spent the last month trying to contact customer service to report that the bed literally COLLAPSED WHILE MY 12 YEAR OLD WAS SLEEPING! The welds broke on the for of the bed! When I call customer service, it rings and puts me in hold. They I get the option to leave a message. I have multiple times and nothing! No way should I purchase a bedframe that lasts barely 90 days! I would not recommend!

I love this sturdy and simple bedframe! I purchased the mattress, bedding, rug, and lamps in the picture all from Amazon and I couldn’t be happier with all of it. The frame is really cool because it collapses down. In a matter of minutes, the frame is only 2 inches thick and can be carried out easily by one person. That would be great for home staging but I use it all the time. Totally worth the price and, if you shop strategically on Amazon, you can get a really high-end look for pennies on the dollar.
