we bought these even though multiple users claimed the sizing advertised was wrong. Guess what, they were right. The size is clearly marked on the life jacket for 50 to 90 pound children. We bought two for our 9 year old twins, both of whom weight close to 60 pounds. The life jackets barely fit! The girls have to hold their breath to be able to close the clips and the jackets actually rub hard on their necks. These girls are petite, small for their age (as often twins can be). If anything these life jackets should engulf either of our girls. I don’t understand how this product can be marked 50 – 90 pounds?? They are WAY TOO SMALL FOR THE SIZE ON THE LABEL.

This PFD is TINY! My son is a whopping 64lbs (a VERY thin 64lbs) and this jacket could barely clip together (clips were fully extended).
I got it clipped but he had no range of motion, the vest was nearly under his chin and digging into his underarms.
It seems like it would be a great product on a chubby toddler but I don’t see how this jacket can fit someone nearly 90lbs!

Tried the infant sized first for the youngest grandson. Since he liked it, we then bought the youth sized for the older kids. As you can see from the pics, they don’t mind wearing them. I like that they are adjustable for each child’s comfort.

It works well and fits perfectly as expected. Life jackets are supposed to be firm and tight on the chest and should not go above the child’s ears because if the child is drowning, a loosely fitted life jacket that goes above their ears can keep their head underwater. My son has room to move with this vest and it fits him and keeps him afloat. The price was good as well for $19 with prime compared to the $25-$50+ other options.

Very, very small! We purchased a YOUTH 50-90 lb and it barely fits our 70 lb daughter. It is difficult to buckle when the straps are fully extended, is tight and uncomfortable and looks/feels like it is choking her. We pulled out my son’s CHILD 30-50 lb vest (from another brand) and it is the EXACT same size… inch for inch. I’m wondering if there might be an error with misprinted sizes/weights on these. I question whether this would actually keep a larger child afloat so I would be very cautious in using it.

I required a quality product in a specific time period and the supplier delivered on both. Very happy with the life jack and fit as outlined in the product write-up. Very satisfied and would deal with this supplier again.

Product does not have a headrest on the back which is Canadian boating standards. I want to send it back but now have to pay international shipping costs and a restocking fee . These two costs combined are more than the product is worth . Absoulety useless to me now.

I measured my son and purchased this youth life jacket and it barely fits. He is 50 pounds and 27″ in the chest and there is NO WAY this will fit him next year. If I didn’t need it so badly right now I would return it. It is supposed to fit up to 90 pounds and 29″ chest and that is just not going to happen. The 3 straps (especially the one under the neck) are barely able to be secured. So frustrated with this product. He has not been in the water with it yet so I do not know how well it will work at this point for protection. Would recommend only for toddler and not “youth”!

Creo que para ser según su tamaño entre 50 a 90 lbs, deja muy limitado el uso para un niño. Le quedará exacto a un niño de 5-6 años pero no creo que le quede a uno mayor.

Of the Sterns Classic Series vests, I would only recommend the Adult versions to fit correctly. I got two of these Youth Classic vests for my kids (7y and 5y – 50+/-5 lbs). The vests fit very snugly around the chest, especially for the bigger of two kids. However, the most uncomfortable part was how the vest were around the kids necks. The V-line near the neck area is just too small and with the vest properly tightened around their bodies, it was touching their necks and was very uncomfortable. I understand that safety is not always around comfort, but these vests just did not feel right.
I returned these and got Sterns Antimicrobial Nylon Youth vests. Those vests fit the kids very nice and had some room for the kids to grow as well. We went out kayaking and kids did not complain about the vests at all.

It seems like the straps on this life vest were made without considering there will be a child inside. When flat, the straps are long enough. As soon as you stick a little kid inside, the straps are suddenly way too short to buckle. Only the top strap buckled comfortably. The bottom two barely snapped when I made the straps as loose as possible. For reference, my son is tall and skinny, weighs 52 lbs, and this jacket is supposed to fit 50-90 lbs.
