I’d been struggling with garden-variety skewers for years and finally had enough of food spinning around on the skewers and being hard to rotate on the grill. I figured I must not be alone in this so went to Amazon thinking there must be a better design here — I mean, it’s just a simple skewer so how hard can it be to design one that works well? As soon as I saw these I had to have them. The blade is nice and wide to prevent food spinning around, and the handles are thoughtfully designed so they’re easy to grab and turn even with oven mitts on. And they actually work! My grilling life has improved considerably because of these simple but functional tools made to do the job. Highly recommended!!!

Finally, skewers that hold food without rotating! I have grilled veggies, shrimp, chicken, meatballs and sausage on these skewers. They hold about 4-5 pieces of protein with a veggie or two in between each, so about a serving per skewer. Compared to all my other skewers, these are the absolute best! Still, they are not perfect. The ends get hot so you need to figure out a safe way to turn them when cooking. I use long tongs but a grill basket with a handle would work too. Once you take them off the grill, you need a hot mitt to hold the end to remove the food if you want to eat right away. I run these through the dishwasher on the top shelf to clean. They are slightly discolored now but I know they are clean and the finish is intact. Overall, another great OXO product.

Made chicken kabobs on the grill. They were easy to turn without the food spinning around. Easy to clean up. Nice and long to add extra veggies without them falling off the end.

Perfect for kebabs and s’mores! It’s easy to hold and because the shape doesn’t allow for the food to rotate so it stays put.

Tired of dealing with bamboo skewers that splinter (extra fiber?), burn and break, and allow food to roll around on them, I ordered the OXO ones reviewed. There are plenty of reusable metal, and flat options from multiple brands (including the usual oddball names on Amazon). All appear to be made in China, which is not a negative in itself, but there are concerns over what is in the metal. Have to assume OXO has higher standards, but I remember what my high school Trig teacher educated me on assume.
Regardless of my pseudo safety concerns (really nought, given that I don’t cook with skewers everyday, and grilling isn’t exactly healthy in its own right, but I digress), OXO usually makes decent products, so it was an easy choice. Could have gone cheaper, but these lay flat and have a nice handle to them that tongs and gloved hands can easily grasp.
In use, I have no complaints other than I wish more came in the package. They wash up quickly in the dishwasher on the top rack laid flat (too tall and thin for silverware basket), with no rust visible in several months of use.
