This is a mid-size, reasonably-priced automatic watch. The picture makes it look a bit rectangular, like a tank watch, but this is a classic round watch with a flat (not domed) crystal. The crystal is sapphire, which is nice to see at this price point. Even nicer is the small window at 7:00 that shows the heart of the movement, rotating on a red jewel. If that isn’t enough, taking off the watch and flipping it over reveals a clear back that shows the entire thing, including the self-winding mechanism. Roman numerals and a full second hand round out the package. Overall, a surprisingly nice mechanical entry that would make an excellent start into the world of automatic watches.

Got this on the Amazon subsidiary site Woot for a great price. I appreciate the sapphire domed crystal, the hybrid automatic movement and the from and back windows into the inner workings. One of the other reviews said it is a flat crystal but it looked like a very subtle dome to me. The clasp mechanism on the leather band will ensure the band doesn’t wear out nearly as fast since you aren’t poking the buckle through a hole in the strap repeatedly, and it is less likely to fall off while you are trying to fasten it.
All in all, it is a great looking watch that I won’t be afraid to take out of the house and subject to a little real life abuse.

The Bulova Dress Watch is really stunning. It has a stainless steel case and a black leather strap. The black face is quite striking with its round opening that gives you a look inside at the movement. It’s water resistant and self winding. My husband has gotten many compliments on this beauty.

Pros:
– The watch face is nice. Most watch owners want a watch that looks good on their wrist, like a piece of jewelry. This watch fits the bill.
– This watch can be left on my desk, unworn for 2 days (48 hours) and still continue ticking.
– The sapphire crystal should be hard to scratch.
Cons:
– The band is best for large wrists because it’s annoyingly to try getting the excess watch band into the keepers.
– Why is this watch not owning-up to its Japansee-made movement?? It’s not stated anywhere on the face, nor iris stamped on the back. But there is a small round sticker on the back which says JAPAN MOVEMENT, in hard to see small print !
– In my humble opinion… This watch is at too high of a price point.
