Bought this trimmer to replace the cheaper Black and Decker model under this one that died at a young age I have a 20v cordless B&D trimmer with the same auto feed head that has never failed to feed in over 2 years of tough use. This electric model works like a champ and powers through everything I’ve thrown at it within reason. 100% satisfied with delivery, price and product.

For anyone like myself who ordered this thinking it came with everything needed to use, it does NOT come with a cord.
I was unaware of this as I did not see it stated anywhere online that it didn’t come with one. Thought the first one was an error but after the second one and still no cord, I realized that only on the box it comes in does it state what it comes with and does not say there is a cord. It should be clearly stated that a cord is required to me purchased separately.

Impossible to use as equipped with the Amazon recommended 100’ 3 prong extension cord. The problem is the trimmer was designed to block three prong extension cords. Without the ability to plug the trimmer into a three prong extension it is useless without finding an extension cord from the 1980s.

Very Lightweight, easy pre-wound line to snap on (my favorite feature), and does a super job on tall and short growth, very powerful. After battling with a Craftsman for a year, I’m in heaven. I’m in my late 60s and its so lightweight.

This is a pretty good little edger. I had some of the same problems others have pointed out:

    1. The plug in is recessed and does not fit a normal extension cord. I wasn’t going to purchase another extension cord just for this so I actually took scissors and shaved the edges of the plug in on the edger (it’s just plastic and took maybe 5 minutes). Worked great!

    2. The auto line feeder is basically designed to make you run out quicker. Luckily that’s easy enough to fix by placing a piece of duct tape over the little feeder. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about there are YouTube videos that show you – it’s super simple and now you decide when to feed new line.

Super funcional.

For some unfathomable reason, the thoughtless designers (this is what you get when you replace engineering with marketing “design”) made the power plug completely recessed, and the recess is too small to fit your typical 3-prong extension cord. Of course, like any sensible person, I don’t have 50- or 100-foot 2-prong extension cords lying around, and the ones I do have have a 3-receptacle tap which also won’t fit.

So, I have to make a trip to the hardware store, or perhaps more sensibly remove enough material that my regular outdoor extension cord fits.

1 star for wasting my time, reasonless.

First let me address a thing in the other reviews which almost made me NOT buy this weed whacker. A lot of reviews said that a regular electrical cord head will not fit this weed wacker because the recess was too small, but I had no problem with that at all. The electrical cord which I have and use for all my other power tools, fitted just fine, so I don’t really know what these reviewers are talking about.
This edger has the wire guide like my old one which I miss so much. Was looking for one like that and this was the closest . My old one, the wire guide was built in, flip out and in when not edging , this one the wire is removable . But even so you would hardly have to remove it, and if you did have to it does so very easily.
These wire guides for the edges works best, the wheels on the newer models are hit and miss and is a bad idea for edging. The wire guide gives you a clean neat line .
I would definitely recommend this product.

I loved this product. Excellent quality. My only issue and it’s a big one is the self feeding line uses a spool everytime I use it. That is super annoying and I wish it wasn’t so wasteful in string and money.
Update: there is an individual on these reviews that recommended looking at disabling the auto string feed from a I tube video. He should be awarded a “problem solver” award. THANKS SO MUCH!

I’m elderly & making an attempt to do edging myself to save money. This thing can really cut – I’ve even used it to clear out a small open concrete drainage line from the fence line to the end of the lawn at the street. Turned it sideways & it just dug a hole in the dirt clogging the line. Walked back and forth lengthwise down the line a few times & it cleared a good drain line down the center. Figure I can do it every time I edge & eventually clear it all out. Tickled me silly :-). The guide lets me make clean edges on the lawn by the driveway/sidewalk. I’ve even done some light hedge clipping with this thing. Emphasis on the light part…just a few branches sticking out in the walkway from an Azalea bush.

The auto feed system seems to be very wasteful. The very first time I used this weed wacker, I finished the entire spool before I finished half of the yard work. I don’t have a very big yard and it would cost way too much money to constantly replace these spools. I’m returning this item and buying a weed wacker that has a bump controlled system instead.

I got this to replace a trimmer that I thought would put me in the grave from trying to untangle the line. This trimmer has auto feed… and I don’t need to tap or hammer it on the ground to release the line…. It seems to really whirl along through the weeds and reedy grasses. The guard seems good, too. I haven’t massacred my shins and legs yet. All in all, I am impressed with this trimmer. If only it would run itself…. and quit whacking my ferns by mistake… or is that operator error?
