When It comes to weeding, it does the job pretty well. But I found that my thumb starts to hurt when I operate it for more than 5-10 min, it has something to do with the location of the handle, the trigger button, and the safety button. Also, for big guys, it’s a bit short, I needed to lean down, so it wasn’t good for my back. I would’ve appreciated a little bit more flexibility with the size of the extension. But, again, in general, for weeding it does the job, so if you are okay with a little bit of discomfort then its a good buy.

I liked the light weight maneuverability, more than an hour of use on the battery. It was easy to assemble, literally a couple of minutes. I have used it to till the flowerbed around the house and to plant vines and bouganvilleas. Great for light residential use. This is not an industrial power tool. But for backyard use it’s worked well ,and no gas and no cumbersome power cord.A

It easily loosened the compacted soil in my yard, but where I thought I would have problems with the many buried rocks, it seamlessly loosened the soil around them and made pulling even the largest rocks out a piece of cake…

Really solid machine. It’s not overly powerful, but 5 star value for the price. It will pull weeds fairly easily, but you’ll spend a lot of time pulling the weeds off the rotors. It’s very lightweight, battery life is really solid. I’ve used it about a dozen times now and it has held up well. For the price it definitely deserving of a 5 star rating.

I bought this cultivator for my Wife’s Birthday as she loves her garden. The product is great. Well made, sturdy but light to use. Very effective in the garden for keeping the soil open and friable. The supplied battery lasts for about an hour and there is a supplied battery charger. (You will need a US adapter for the 2 pin plug). The down side is, if you want spare parts, ie Battery, Blade etc. Forget it. They are available in the US but they are not able to ship to the UK. Amazon UK does list the spare battery but it is listed as “Out Of Stock”!! The US Sunjoe site list it as “Discontinued”!! A bit odd selling a product but not supporting it? Is this sharp practice or lack of a Trade Deal? Come on Amazon, give us a break. Please publish this review as it is fully truthful.

This works really well for tight areas between plants. It works so much better than I anticipated I even used it for a fairly large area in the front of the house that needed to have the grass reseeded. I have very hard clay soil. It took a bit of time, but got the job done. It is light weight and won’t ‘jump’ so I can handle it just fine. If you are older and things are getting more difficult to do with the aches and pains, this is a good option.

at my age, I can’t handle a full size cultivator. but this gets the job done for me. makes weeding so much easier. it’s got quite a bit of power to you have to hang on tight or it will get away from you. would recommend and have to a friend!

It is great for gardens and light cultivating needs. It went together easily. It does what I want which is to turn over the soil in a neglected flower garden. I thought it wouldn’t have any bite but it does. Saves my aging body from some of the heavier digging and bending over.

If your soil is easy to cultivate use a manual hoe. This device is no weeder. Anything long wraps round the spindle and is tedious to unravel. Damp soil clings to and builds up on the guard and blade requiring constant cleaning. However, if your soil is hard, dry, reasonably weedless, space restricted and back breaking to hoe, this attractive device is for you. It will easily hoe to a 3” depth but is no speed machine. Rotation is slow enough to not overly damage the blade by hitting stones.

I love this little tiller, but my hubs who’s 6’1” says the handle is a little short for him. I’m 5’6″ and it works fine for me. I use it mainly in raised beds. It is light enough for someone without a lot of upper body strength. The safety button on the handle is a little hard to push, but once engaged the tiller goes like gangbusters no cranking required. It can be a little hard to control if you hit a hard object, which will cause the tiller to bounce like other tillers of similar design and it shuts off the motor which is a good safety feature. The battery has a good amount of charge long enough to do most of my beds without recharging. This unit is not designed for hard packed or never tilled soil. Just a little tiller to go between rows or uproot small starter weeds in a flower bed. This unit helps me keep ahead of the weeds and I would highly recommend it for this purpose.

This was a good tool for digging a shallow trench around trees for my soaker hose. I wanted the hoses buried out of the sun and away from the lawn mower blade. It doesn’t like vines and long grass which tangle around the spindle. Most of my yard was cut short, so no problem, but a few places were overgrown. I had to take the blade off to clean out the long stuff. It wasn’t very hard. It’s great that it runs on battery because it’s much lighter and easier to use than a gas tiller. The battery lasted a little over an hour with constant use.

I purchased this unit to till up only the flat/dry areas of my lawn for subsequent overseeding of winter rye grass. I used the unit to till up appx150 sq ft of lawn area. It was powerful and fast! It ony took about 30 minutes to do the entire area AND only used up a third of the battery charge! Moreover, this was not easy soil to begin with – and would have been a pain to do with hand tools.
Very pleased with this unit – as well 2 other Sun Joe products recently purchased (telescoping corded chain saw, and hedge trimmer). I was so impressed that I’ve since ordered the small cordless blower (tool only) which uses the same battery as the tiller.
I highly recommend these products.
