Recommended by xfinity, this POS is totally impossible to setup. I am a software engineer.. Did not show up on my network, xfinity does not have wpa setup, so you have to use the web browser. Will not show up. Used the ethernet cable..connecting to the recommended web address just timed out. No network installation assistant mentioned in documentation found anywhere to download. 1 last try to netgear tech support and it’s going back.

If I as a 30 year computer pro can not get it to work out of the box, imagine your problems! Total disaster.. find something better..

Ok, so I had read several negative reviews saying it quit after a month. So, I held off until now to leave feedback. I’ve now had it operating for about a month and a half.

In that time, it cut out a grand total of once (hence the four star instead of five). I have no idea why. But I simply unplugged and replugged. Fixed it. Apart from that it has worked fine. So, I’m not sure what the other guys were talking about.

Signal strength and data speed are great. No lag that I can detect from my central system. A heck of a lot cheaper than some of the other systems. Some were over $300. And I still can’t read anything in their descriptions about what they do that this doesn’t.

Bottom line is that it is a pretty good product for a great price.

Not sure what other people are talking about. This product took less time to setup then opening a door. If anyone had an issue setting this up to work they have other issues with their router/network. I get full bars through 3 floors of my house and best money I could spend to increase the quality of my internet signal.

I changed my 5 star rating to a 1 star. At first, it worked perfectly. It was easy t set up and booted my signal from the second floor to the basement. Since then, however, it hasn’t been working at all. It constantly kicks us off the network and requires the password every single time we try to re-connect. When I enter the password it tells me it’s incorrect. I’m very disappointed with this product and, of course, my return window is closed so now I’m stuck with it.

Funciona muy bien, puedes crear una red para 2.4ghz y una para 5ghz, extiende mucho el alcance y la velocidad se mantiene. Muy buen agregado que tenga un conector ethernet incluido para tener red por cable en cualquier lugar.

When I first installed the unit in the room where we stream video, I was chagrined to find that, though the signal was stronger, it seemed slower than the router I was extending, an impression corroborated by several reviews. Wifi internet on my laptop also seemed slower. So I emailed customer support, not expecting much, because I was past my 90-day free technical support deadline. I was surprised to get a phone call a few hours later. When I mentioned the reviews indicating that the unit was slower than the router it was extending, he assured me that wasn’t a characteristic of the unit, and he would help me troubleshoot. He was endlessly patient in walking me through the process of updating the device firmware (the software that runs the unit). As it happened, even though I purchased the unit in March, the firmware was significantly out of date. After the installation, we ran a speed test, and the unit delivered the same speed in the TV room as the main router did in the room where it is located. Apparently, problem solved.

I purchased this item from Amazon to extend my wireless network which already has a NETGEAR router. I tried to set it up as described in the manual and was unable to set it up. There was a problem with passwords and after about an hour I gave up and unplugged the extender. After that my wireless network was not accessable by any of my devices. I had to call NetGEAR help center. Because my NETGEAR router was past 90 days I had to buy a sercice contract for 150 dollars!! Then in took almost 2 hours just to get my wireless network back up and running and they couldnt help me setup the network extender. So even though I plan on returning the extender to AMAZON for a refund Im out 150 dollars and 2 hours of frustration. DONT BUY THIS.

When it worked it was decent. It would maybe once in a blue moon require a reboot. Otherwise it was rock solid. I was hoping to get 2-3 years out of it, sadly it died after 15 months of use.

This was seriously worth the money. After reading some of the bad reviews I was a bit hesitant but I decided to give this extender a try.
I am so very glad I did; it has boosted the wifi speed from 90 kbps to 2.3 Mbps.
Whereas before it took me a solid 20 seconds to load a regular webpage, I can now stream Netflix with no issues whatsoever.

I just installed my new Netgear N300 and I am WAY impressed! I live in a pretty big ranch-style home, so the modem is connected in a front room where the DirecTV is already wired in to connect to the modem. It’s far away from the other rooms, but I couldn’t really move the modem closer to where I work on my computer in the back of the house. After researching different options and reading reviews to see which were genuine, I chose this model and was hoping for the best.

I am VERY happy with this Netgear extender so far (even though I’ve only had it connected for about 30 minutes).

I read through the instructions and they were easy to follow, but I’ll just explain what I did, which only took 3-4 minutes and required almost NO WORK on my part.

    1. Plug the Netgear extender in an outlet in the same room or very near your modem/router. This will help it pair quickly with your modem.
    2. Let the lights on the Netgear light up from amber/red and wait until you see the various LED light up green. If nothing happens, try pressing the “on/off” button on the side of the Netgear.
    3. Press the “WPS” button on the Netgear FIRST; then within 2 minutes (immediately is fine), press the “WPS” button on your modem.
Note: If you don’t have a WPS button, look at the instructions for how to hook up your extender using a browser – it’s easy.
    4. Once you click the WPS buttons on each device, it will start pairing — you will see the Netgear do a little light show for a minute. Once the lights are green and stable, you can now unplug it.
    5. Bring your Netgear somewhere in-between your modem/router placement and where you need it to extend your WiFi into (like a bedroom, living room) – remember, don’t place the extender too far away from the modem or it won’t connect, which defeats the purpose. — I placed mine in the middle of the hallway leading back to the back of the house – a nice half-way point.
    6. Plug the Netgear into the outlet and wait until it turns green again (all lights that illuminate should turn green if you have placed it in a great spot). If one of the lights is amber, try moving it closer to the modem.
    7. If all lights are green, you’re good! Leave it plugged in and point the antenna to beam the signal to where you want it.
    8. Use your computer or smartphone and go to your WiFi options.
    9. The extender will have AUTOMATICALLY created the WiFi choice for you: it will be your EXISTING WiFi name with “_EXT” at the end. Easy as pie.
    10. Click that WiFi name and login using your existing password.
    You’re DONE!

I looked on my computer and immediately saw I had FULL bars for once, and so I ran a speed test and it’s SO much better now. Now I can actually use my smart TV again, my phone, and my computer in my back room and everywhere else back here!

The installation was so simple. While it looks like a long ordeal with the instructions above, that’s just because it’s written out. It really only takes 3-4 minutes. It just consists of plugging it in, pressing WPS buttons, waiting for the Netgear to turn green, plugging the Netgear in where you need to extend your WiFi, and clicking “connect” on the new WiFi name that it automatically creates for you.

I could not be more impressed with the simplicity and how easy they made it. I’m pretty good at tech-related stuff, but the fact that I had to do nothing made me happy. Definitely worth the money.

I tried a lot of wifi extenders based on price, returned 2 or 3 other extenders and have had this for months. It sits right between the router and where we’re having issues connecting around the corner of the apartment. You can rename your extended wifi and set a separate password. Never drops out on our devices. You have to manually change to the original network if you’re still on the extender and closer to the router (if you want better direct internet) but it’s not a nuisance at all.
