I liked the Star Trek theme much more than the fantasy theme of the original, but the game still fell flat for us. It’s all about collecting cards that combo off of each other, which is interesting but that it – that’s the whole game. Scoring is also cumbersome and took almost as long to score as to play. Overall, an okay game but not a great game for us. Your milage may vary.

I enjoyed playing this game with Deep Space Nine in the background. I liked making card selections and the combinations make sense. Card quality is nice, artwork is from the show. I wish that they specified which shows are featured. This box only features The Next Generation, with Ambassador Spock as one card. So the box lid is a little misleading because fans might think the Original Series is also present (myself included).

What I don’t like are that some cards have a lot of text. Some cards have ambiguous wording. Most are easy to figure out. The rulebook is simple and easy to remember. I wish there was a player reference card so we could remember the end game condition.

My husband however did not enjoy the game. He also doesn’t know most of the references on the card. He was also upset that there was no distribution provided for each “category”/“classification” and doesn’t think it’s worth his time to memorize the cards. But he learned the distribution for Terraforming Mars. If you can score about 10 points per card it’s a good play. My husband: “Maybe I would like this if I really liked Star Trek, otherwise it doesn’t have a lot going for it”.

Honestly, I would buy other stand-alone games for all the other series. I don’t mind getting familiar with the cards and playing this weekly! Now you know who the real geek is in this relationship! 🖖🏼 live long and prosper.
