I watched dozens of reviews of this an many other small portable Bluetooth speakers. This one met and exceeded my wishes.

Sounds great. Looks cool. Trying to make a floatie for it. Battery lasts but I doubt it’ll go 20 hrs. It’s sound is brighter than my Bose Mini…a little “better” maybe. More like different than better. I love the single button control and the build quality seems very good. I would definitely recommend it for smaller spaces. If you want loud, loud, LOUD, I’d get a bigger speaker.

The quality for the little speaker is great. I have seen how another top brands offer clearer quality and more sync compatability with multiple speakers, but I wasn’t looking for that. Honestly what drew me in was the aesthic look of this little portable Bluetooth speaker. It has a vintage feel to it with a heavy duty outer skin made of rubber i think. It feels like it can take a beating if dropped which I have not done yet. I play it in the kitchen when cooking or cleaning. I place it close against a wall to get a bit more sound feedback. So it’s great for ambiance and more personal intimate setting, like an upgrade instead of blaring your smartphone at speaker max. If you’re looking for more bells and whistles then I would look to Marshall’s graduated models but that would mean dishing out more $$$ or maybe some other brand. This really isn’t meant as a complete surround sound home theater system and I’m sure this would be common sense to buyers but I could be wrong. It comes with a charging cable and so far we haven’t spent most of our time charging it constantly, of course we are not blaring the speaker at max volume either so if you play it at a decent sound level the internal battery will last longer. Very easy to use and it’s cute so I love it!

Indoors: Each unit sounds very different depending on where it is located. For the Emberton, it sounded a little too bassy in most locations and the mids and highs sounded drowned out because of that. The Bose also sounded a little too bassy but was more even on the mids and highs. In particular, the highs sounded great indoors. In certain spaces indoors, the Bose might have had the most even sound but only when standing right in front of the speaker. The JBL Flip 4 did not go as low in frequency response to the others however there was more clarity in the mids and had a more stereophonic sound. The Flip 4 in most cases sounded too bassy indoors (and I don’t mean low bass but mid-bass). The Emberton sounded as one of the best when placed in the middle of the room. Outdoors: The Emberton was definitely the loudest and had the most bass and sounded better outdoors and had the best low frequency response as well as loudness. In some cases again, the bass drowned out the mids and highs. I liked the JBL Flip 4 outdoors for having a stereophonic sound and clarity in the mids and highs however the bass did not extend as low as the other 2. The Bose did not sound too good outdoors (worst of the 3 outdoors) and sounded the best indoors in particular situations. The Bose outdoors also did not perform well when not standing right in front of the speakers while the other 2, you can get pretty good response at different angles. As far as loudness and bass, the Emberton blew the other 2 away, but did not have the stereo spaciousness or mid/high clarity of the JBL.

Having bough a Bose 4.2 standard Bluetooth speaker initially then found that my 2019 Google Pixel 3A phone was Bluetooth 5.0 hence would not connect. After trying every avenue to connect the bluetooth speaker I gave up & called customer service. The product was discoverable but not connect. Bose customer service diagnosed the connection issue as the clash of Bluetooth standards. I asked whether Bose sold any 5.0 standard Bluetooth standards. After a check there was only a pair ear plugs.

I searched for a second speaker with 5.0 Bluetooth then found the Marshall.

I am so pleased with the Marshall Emberton. The sound for such a small unit is excellent. It linked quickly & without hassle. It is IPX7 waterproof which is a nice bonus feature!

I would recommend the speaker to anyone! I had a Marshall digital radio for 10 years and experienced great sound before one of my children managed to snap the aerial connection.

It is highly rated & I can hear why! I really wish that I had chosen it in the first place! Too early for battery life as it is only day one! 🙂

Moral buy the Marshall if your phone supports the modern Bluetooth 5.0 standard!

Wow, I have tried a few speakers. Nothing comes close to the Emberton for quality and ease of use.People think the music coming from the guitar amp(pictured) and when they see it’s the small Emberton they are amazed. Must have for any music lover. Good for Beethoven,Metalheadz, Tom Jones,Slipknot,Oasis,Rolling Stones, Biffy Clyro……. you won’t be disappointed!

I needed a speaker I could take anywhere – particularly outdoors or on holiday. I was particularly keen on the Bose sound core II- however it was a bit too beyond my budget. I came across the Marshall Emberton which looked the perfect size and build quality for my budget. Reviews were pretty good so went against my normal try before you buy and ordered.

The sound quality is outstanding for its size- in my opinion equal to the bose at a lower price. Decent bass and volume and I would agree with other reviews that say it excels in the vocals. The build quality is solid and it looks fantastic wherever you put it. I particularly like the central rocker switch, which is responsive and quickly allows you to change tracks and volume with minimal fuss. The battery seems to last forever and the battery level indicator is a useful feature.

Small criticism would be no aux input – although i bought it to be portable so unlikely ever to want to plug a device into it. Bluetooth range is ok – not fantastic I usually need to be in the same room to avoid any stuttering- I have come from using chromecast audio where range is not an issue- but less portable. I was surprised to read that despite it using Bluetooth 5.0 it uses an SBC codec rather than more recent AptX or AAC, which offer better latency and marginal improvement in sound quality. Not that I’ve noticed anything detrimental to the sound quality.

Overall an outstanding portable speaker for the money!

Damn good truck speaker for working underground. Excellent quality. Battery life at near full volume goes quick but its to be expected. The charger port is super loose unfortunately, barely holds the cord

I can’t believe how much sound comes out of this little speaker! I bought this for my husband for Christmas for his home office and I wasn’t expecting it to be as great as it is. This sucker is loud and sounds really really good. Obviously we haven’t had it long so I can’t say much about longevity yet, but the sound coming out of it is downright shocking, in the best way possible. I am very happy with this purchase.

The sound quality of this speaker is impressive, with lovely clear details in the higher ranges and a decent amount of bass given its size.

This is unfortunately marred by numerous beeps and boops. When you turn the speaker on and off it plays an ugly electric guitar riff that I hate. Worse than this, it interrupts the music with status noises when power is connected or disconnected, or when the battery reaches full charge. There are already plenty of visual indicators for this information so these noises are irritating and unnecessary.

Perhaps these notification sounds are included as an accessibility feature for blind users, which I support but ideally it should be possible for sighted users to disable them.

We have a water proof speaker from the big B in sound right now. This rivals and maybe even beats it for sound clarity. Even at high levels this puppy doesn’t rattle or buzz and the sound also balances bass and treble very well. It feels hardy while still managing to look stylish. It’s actually pretty killer looking. Way more attractive than the big B. The b is more conveniently sized and shaped for carrying though. This speaker is more of a “place it somewhere and leave it alone” type. My husband will probably continue to that the other speaker in bike rides and things but this guy has taken over poker night, working in the garage or yard, etc. definitely our favorite around the house speaker. He blasted some George straight in the laundry room to test it and even the messed up acoustics in there worked with the sounds coming from this little beast. We’re actually thrilled with its performance.
