My daughter received this gift 18 years ago when she was a baby and it was the best thing ever! It had a beautiful vanilla smell and she loved playing with it making the music and looking at all the colors. Since then I’ve purchased this toy for everyone who is having a baby and everyone loved it. HOWEVER it has changed in the years because I just ordered one for a friend and it has zero vanilla smell, the colors are different on it, and worst of all it’s practically impossible to squeeze the tentacles. I am an adult and I have to use all of the force in my hand to even get the tentacle to play a tune. There is no way A baby let alone a toddler can squeeze these in order to play it. It’s so disappointing because this used to be a wonderful toy but it looks like it’s changed so it will be returned. 👎🏽😞

We love this thing. My 3month old will do tummy time and just chat this guy up! Each “arm” is a different tone and it comes with a song book. Been fun to practice and get some tones down. (I think it comes with 2-4 songs. Twinkle twinkle. Mary had a lamb) it’s pretty large and not a great diaper bag toy. I havent tried to wash it but would worry about the arms retaining too much water and not squeaking anymore. I think it’s priced too high but if you can get it on sale it’s an awesome toy and would be a great gift.

My friend recommended me to get this gift for my 6m baby for Christmas. I looked at it but I didn’t really understand the point. Well I ordered it thinking it was a bit pricey and received it quickly.

When I opened it I understood the hype behind this toy! It’s musical and not with batteries! It also is bright with textures on it! When we gave it to our daughter she immediately lost her noodles and began grabbing it, kissing it, hollering at it, and smiling!

We have now named him, “Nigel” & Nigel goes everywhere with her! Her dad and I learned how to play songs on him and she loves that too! This is more than your usual stuffed animal or musical toy! Get your babies/toddlers a Nigel it’s a wonderful toy and it’s actually worth the money!

This is more like a squeaky toy to get the musical notes to play. It sounds like a cheap kids toy horn. It also takes quite a bit of force to squeeze each leg to make it play the sounds. I have a hard time with it with adult-sized hands, my baby is unable to squeeze them. This is a much larger toy than I was expecting. Wish I didn’t buy it – too bad as I’ve been a big fan of most of the Lamaze toys.

So annoying, I played with an older version of one of these with my ten month old at a Playgroup, it was brill. I really enjoying playing out nursery rhymes and she loves the different colours and textures and it’s face. Also kids get enthusiastic about toys they can play with the someone else showing. Interest so I thought it was a perfect Christmas present. The first one I ordered had two notes repeated and several notes not in tune so I ordered a replacement which also had repeated notes and sounded awful when you tried to play the scale on it. I’m not super musical but trying to play the nursery rhymes as show on the tag sounded terrible. Why have a toy you can supposedly play and then not do it properly. So annoying as has the potential to be a brilliant toy that parent and baby can enjoy together.

I saw this toy years ago and thought it was so cute, easy to squeeze the tentacles and best of all the delicious vanilla smell. I ordered one, don’t laugh, for myself/dog toy and I’m so disappointed it has zero vanilla smell and the tentacles are not easy to squeeze for me as an adult, I can’t imagine a baby or child being able to easily do it. This sucks because I wanted to keep it, but I will be sending it back.

Although this is recommended for older babies, I bought this when my baby was 7 months as she loves labels and fiddling with tags. As this has crinkly parts and various things to fiddle with, babies can grow with it as obviously when they’re older, then can practise the buttons or tying the cord etc. I think it’s expensive to be honest but I’m glad I purchased it.

We threw a few towels in there to speed the drying process, but overall it did well. Other Lamaze toys are hand wash only, which is irritating – just one more thing to do on low sleep.

So glad I purchased this, kept my little girl entertained for a good 20 minutes and she was screeching with laughter. She was so excited and kept on trying to grab the legs and hold onto the octopus. Really happy with my purchase, worth every penny.

My 4 month old has had this little ball for about a month now and she quite clearly enjoys it. The differing textures, crinkly sound and the hide and seek elephant and sun. The little bell sound is charming and quite pleasant and the flannel texture section is soft and squeezable (although she hasn’t quite worked out that it squeaks).
She’s at the rolling over stage and this has given her something to reach for as well as trying to push towards which looks like her precursor to crawling.
I’d highly recommend it. It’s the whole package, vibrant colors, various textures, cute sounds and peek a boo objects. Plus it rolls. Win win.

What did you do to this beautiful product!?

It used to be cuddly and so easy to squeeze out tunes.

Now, it’s useless for any infant with less than an 8 inch thumb to finger spread.

You let your cost-engineers run your business, and this is what you get. Shoddy product.

Bought for my 6MO with the understanding that my 3YO could play with it too. Not only can baby not squeeze the feet to make the sounds, but her 3YO sister can’t squeeze either. And my 3YO has age-appropriate fine motor skills. They are that tough to squeeze. As an adult I can play the notes, but the toy isn’t for me! For the price, I want at least 1 of my 2 kids to be able to play with it independently. The baby likes the cute face and crinkly handle, but I can buy much less expensive toys that have those things. The thing that makes this toy unique, it’s musical feet, is inaccessible to both my kids. To me that makes it not worth the money. Disappointing because I loved how it was not electronic but still musical. If you wanna spend over $30 on a toy that you’ll need to help your kids play with, then this is for you.

Build quality is decent but doesn’t have a single note in tune with another. I’m by no means pitch perfect and it’s enough to make me wince. Will be returning for something else. At this price it should really at least be in tune.
