I suppose you could use it as a regular Bechamel or white sauce for salmon, chicken, vegetables, etc, but all I can think about is basically biscuits-and-gravy and maybe chicken fried steak. Mmmmm

Easy to make in the microwave. Add to cold water, heat and stir. Often. I imagine that skillet preparation with just a little bit of grease or pan juices after fixing your bacon or sausage could be pretty incredible but I haven’t tried it.

Seems like a good value. Good flavor. Not too peppery. Very simple and convenient. Great consistency. The ONE TIME the form doesn’t ask me about thickness, go figure.

UPDATE: Due to an extreme financial pinch (an understatement) I finally elected to open this product and to start using it. This is good stuff and it does work much like Concentrated Cream-of-Chicken Soup, to add flavor and to emulsify and add creamy texture to soups and stews … This gravy really does make rice or beans or instant potatoes much more flavorful and combines with curry powder for great results. I wish I had a lifetime supply of it. It has become one of my go-to grub-chef ingredients. Makes good grub even better … Noticeably.

Have not tried this product. Seems like a no-brainer for longer-term (medium-term) PREPPER STORAGE AND USE. I just saw this as a way to enhance mashed-potato flakes and rice, just to add some flavor and nutrition and to help alleviate dietary-fatigue. I plan to use it much as I have been using concentrated, canned, Cream-of-Chicken Soup … As a sort of cooking gravy and as a base for other spices to blend with.

Do your own research on the shelf-life but I am just guessing it will remain stable, at room temperature, for a few years (minimum) … YMMV !

As my family enjoy gravy with some of their meals, this is wonderful, tasty and quick to make. It works for us.

This is one of those products I always have on hand. My favorite use is to dump it on a chuck roast in the slow cooker with about a half pack of dry ranch dressing, about half stick of butter and some pepper rings. Cook all day and I guarantee you won’t eat a roast any other way. McCormick’s Au Jus adds a richness that intensifies beef. But don’t stop with just beef. I couldn’t find it in my local store one time and the cashier told me about how many she rings up and all the ideas people have for it. Check it out and look up some other, I’m sure, wonderful ideas on the internet on how to use this fantastic product.

I love McCormic Country Gravy but this was not at all like the packages you buy…a different taste and consistency even follow the instructions to a tee. I would stick tot he packages if you can find them. Too watery even adding more mix and tasted more like flour with no taste. It may have been just this jar but it’s too much money for me to try it this way again.

I normally buy this when i travel in the US, however due to the 2020 situation that is not possible.
This taste very different than what i normally buy in the US.

That being said it still adds to the dripping from a roast chicken for a decent gravy.

This review is for the Country Gravy Mix. I would give this a ten star if it was available. So easy and very good. Of course not homemade good but close enough and so much easier. I just put the measured amount in a sauce pan added the water and whisked it. The next thing i knew I had gravy for our mashed potatoes (those were homemade). Can’t wait to make biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I saw some reviews said floury tasting but I did not think so. I will definitely order this again.

I ordered Au Jus gravy and THIS is not it! This is just regular brown gravy. I usually buy the packets from the store but lately they’ve been all sold out so I decided to just buy the container. So I know what Au Jus gravy looks and smells like & this was just regular brown gravy. Very disappointed.

According to my doctor I have no issues with salt and I’m going to claim that my forty years as a cook validates my authority to say out loud that while the turkey gravy flavor is exactly what I want, the salty factor, whether caused by actual salt or some other component, is so strong as to defeat thinning with milk. It tastes so good I keep making a batch and by the time I’ve finished whatever I put in on I wish I hadn’t.

Hey, don’t tell anybody I used this. I actually think it is so flippin’ easy to make gravy, but I had not cooked a turkey to have drippings, so, yes, I admit it: I tore open a packet of this gravy mix. I would not serve it to guests, though. If I’ve invited you for Thanksgiving, please know that you will be served a much better gravy.
