I’ve had my Kitchenaid Ultra Power stand mixer for almost 19 years. It is a wonderful tool in the kitchen and I use it regularly. In the last year or so, I noticed that the coated flat beater was showing a little wear on the edge of the tip. I’d read numerous reviews on Amazon and Kitchenaid that said that the new beaters are not as durable, so I hesitated to buy a replacement. Finally, I did get a replacement from Amazon. I also adjusted my beater to bowl clearance with a regular screwdriver. If I had done this sooner, I probably wouldn’t have had to replace the beater. So far, I have not had any problems whatsoever with the new beater – it works great! I am careful to not drop it on the counter or sink. I’ve kept the old beater just in case the new beater starts to disintegrate! My advice is to keep the manual that comes with the mixer, adjust the beater to bowl clearance, use the correct beater size for your mixer bowl and be careful with the beater.

I was worried that i wasn’t buying the paddle from Kitchenaid themselves but they were out of stock everytime i checked and got this one from Amazon instead. Its about 20g lighter but other than that is perfect. Really really happy with it so thank you!

Whilst it looks good, it’s when you come to fit it to the mixer that the problem is found – the socket isn’t positioned correctly and so it only goes on with quite a bit of effort. Don’t buy it unless you’re willing to take the risk.

Junk! I’ve had two others and they don’t last… the white coating has been chipping off (just like the last two), even though I’ve hand washed it and it hasn’t seen any rough duty. Kitchenaid, how you have fallen. 😞 This isn’t your mother’s/grandmother’s kitchenaid…
I don’t know why they don’t just sell an uncoated replacement paddle?

I realized after ordering this that the coated “metal” is lead. How? The California health warning sticker made me wonder what the heck was so dangerous about a machine made to touch food. Why?!? I don’t care if it is coated in enamel. The enamel does chip over time. I know because THIS is why I replaced the paddle with this one. My last one chipped despite hand washing; it just happens over time. However, I would have replaced it much sooner had I been clearly informed that the metal was lead! I was making food for my family with that chipped paddle! Had I known, I wouldn’t have bought a Kitchen-aid mixer in the first place. I think they should be more forthcoming with that “little” detail about the material used. Notice how other items clearly state what material they are made from: stainless steel bowl, polymer plastic, etc. I believe the company knows enable-coated lead just wouldn’t sell as well. 🙁

The quality of these beaters continues to degrade. I order at least one or two every year and try to baby them (handwash, etc.), but inevitably the coating peels/flakes/scrapes off and becomes an issue, necessitating buying yet another beater. I really wish they made this beater in metal and left the stupid coating off entirely.

The paint started chipping on this literally the first time we used it. But I can’t find the old, unpainted version anywhere!

Our old mixer attachment started turning good gray – apparently the metal residue wears down after a long time.

I bought this as a replacement – but the paint chips off the paddle! But it was thanksgiving and we literally had no choice. So Paint Chips vs. Gray Food. We choose paint chips.

Thanks a lot, KitchenAid. I normally love you but get it together!

This is not the right size for a real, standard KitchenAid mixer.
KitchenAid must have sold out and joined the planned obsolescence crew.
I got a few other things from them in the past couple of years that quickly broke, too.
I will spend more on quality but KitchenAid is no longer that as far as I can tell. Too bad.

This was delivered really quickly, this was to replace one that came with the original mixer, do not put the attachments into a dish washer you’ll have to hand wash them, Artisan Kitchen Aid don’t tell you this.

Nice to have a new one. Too bad you can’t get a stainless one unless you move up to the professional mixers. My previous one lasted two years. I got tired of eating bits of plastic that came off the beater. See picture of the previous one.

This is the second one I have had to replace due to the finish peeling. It peels on the top. I also had to replace my daughters with the same problem. A piece of the finish went into her batter. Very disappointed in the quality. I have tried to call but was on phone for a ridiculous amount of time only to constantly be switched to recordings. I have two kitchenaid small appliances and all my large appliances are made by Kitchenaid. This is extremely frustrating.
I am going to invest in the stainless flat beater but honestly Kitchenaid needs to address this issue! I see I am not the only one complaining about this.
Don’t buy it, switch to stainless.
