I have used many of these cases on many different iPhones so this is my go-to for excellent protection. One thing I could not foresee when getting the new iPhone 12 mini is how you must swipe up from the bottom to open the phone. Coming from a 7 I would say it’s about as difficult as trying to swipe up from the bottom for shortcuts, except now I encounter it every time I want to use the phone. I must use my pointer finger and not my thumb. It seems the sides are much steeper than on the commuter case I had on the 7 so I suppose it exacerbates it. If I remove the case the problem goes away. I may have to get something else because of this conflict of design. I find it hard to believe Otterbox wouldn’t test this sort of thing out when they designed it but maybe they didn’t have access to a working model? (I bought it ahead of the release and installed it the first day the new phone was released)
Update: about a week after the phone was released apple released an update that fixed the issue with opening the phone. Perhaps they quietly realized putting a case on the phone kept the users finger from being recognized at the edge of the screen. Since the update I have been able to open the phone and use the camera & flashlight shortcuts on the lock screen. So in summary this was not actually an OtterBox issue but an iPhone issue.

I have had this case for 31 days and the back of the case has cracked. I submitted a claim on Otterbox website and I was required to pay shipping plus tax. I used to think Otterbox cases were supposed to be better than this!!!
Updated: Even after having to pay for shipping, Otterbox ships warranty replacements with Mail Innovations. Per the shipping notification, “Mail Innovations is not a day definite service.” Instead of receiving replacement last Friday as scheduled, I now don’t know when I will receive it. Poor customer service!

Alright guys, you want a good case? This is it it’s just straight up the best case you can get with your phone I’ve had so many cases including life proof and the Griffen survivor cases on my iPhones. But always got an otter on all my iPhones and I’ve never been failed by them. Stop looking for cases because this is it.

Well I can’t complain at the products build quality. Like all of the other Otterbox items I’ve purchased this is no different. However, since phone companies decided to make flat screen TVs and calling them phones I’ve moved away from these cases. Now that the mini is in my life I’m happy. However, I just put this case on it and it’s just as wide as my 8 was with the thin case I had. Which makes the phone feel wobbly in my hand. I think I should have ordered the next case down in size, but the $10 higher price thwarted that. So I’ll use it did a few days and see if the flattened edges make this more manageable. Idk why we went to rounded aluminum edges in the phones. That’s just asking for slippage even with a case. Anyway I think I’ll swap this for something else, but your mileage may vary.

I have used Otterbox (Defender twice with the last time being a Commuter) for my Samsung phones. This time I decided to get the iPhone 12 mini due to its smaller size, so I figured it was a no brainer to get another Commuter since I loved it. What I loved about the Commuter on my Samsung S8+ was how solid and grippy it made my phone feel. Although I am careful with my phone, the occasional drop does happen. I had a screen protector on the phone, but the extra lip on top and bottom helped keep it from sliding on its face on a table. The raised back also protected the camera in the back. And a bonus was the plug protection. I did use both wireless and wired charging with no issues. The buttons felt perfect in response and feel.
Now for this product. The Otterbox Commuter for the iPhone 12 mini… Yes, it makes the phone feel solid and grippy as I love it. Yes, it does have a lip that protects the screen when it is face down…. but…. the lip is rather high and sharp compared to my old Samsung’s case. Is it a deal breaker? No. But it might annoy some. As another reviewer stated that it makes it difficult to swipe up, I have not had the same feeling and find swiping to be just fine for me. Yes, the camera bump in the back is protected by the raised case. I was not planning to deal with the whole new technology of wireless charging since I just rather plug it in for faster charge. I wouldn’t hold my breath that the new charging is even possible with this case considering thickness and not specifically being made to support the feature. That same to be said about any accessory that uses the magnet feature. One thing I really am not happy about is how stiff the buttons are. You have to really push hard to get a response and I feel this is harder to do with one hand, which is why I bought a smaller phone to fit in one had for. Why do I want to use two hands to press the button??? So I knocked a star off because I think this is an important feature that is problematic to its purpose.
Do I still like my case? Yes, but I am still not happy with the stiff buttons that take efforts to press. Otherwise the case is a solid little beast that will protect my mew phone.

Not sure is it just my case, anyway the top of the case (plastic + Silicon) don’t seal properly. For your consideration
