Excellent product, exactly as described, durable, heavy-duty. Not light weight, which (for me) is a plus. It’s well made and perfect for supporting my MacBook Pro at my right side while I’m at the grand piano…so I have access to music, apps, training videos, lyrics, etc., all within reach. There’s no convenient place to put a notebook computer (or even a tablet) on the piano since the small “music stand” area is occupied. So, a side stand like this is ideal. I may also use it when playing acoustic guitar at outdoor gigs, so my tablet or computer can be well supported.

I have been doing more fashion and product photography lately and was getting tired of trying to figure out where to put my tethered Macbook. After doing some research online and reading reviews, I settled on the Quik Lok laptop holder/stand.

It arrived promptly (amazon prime) and was packaged in a simple box. It required a few minutes to assemble, but I would say that it was easy to assemble (5 minutes). My first impression was how solid and stable the Quik Lok felt. One of my initial concerns was whether or not the stand would be tippy, but that was not the case. Once assembled, I adjusted the height of the stand and placed my Macbook on the stand. I have a 13″ Macbook Pro, so there is some extra space on the stand, but that is not an issue.

To date, I have used it on 4 shoots. It is a little heavy, but it is a happy sacrifice considering how sturdy it is. It makes it a lot easier to show the client the photos while we are doing a shoot with my camera tethered to my Macbook. It is definitely a must. I am very happy with the stand and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something like this. I believe it can also be used as a projector stand although I haven’t tried it.

I waited a while to write this review because I wanted to really put this thing through the paces. It’s been a month or so, and it’s still standing in my home music studio with some pretty expensive equipment on it. I use it as a stand for my Native Instruments Maschine MKii. For those that don’t know what Maschine is, it’s a drum pad controller that requires you to hit rubber pads for a number of musical applications (sampling or finger drumming). When I’m using Maschine on this stand I really go to town pounding out music. This stand is VERY sturdy and hasn’t even given me the feeling that it’s going to fall over.
If your using this for a simple task such as sitting your laptop on it or a projector or anything like that, this thing is well worth the money and you will not be disappointed.

In terms of a portable laptop stand (like I use it), it is fantastic! sturdy, stable, massive, a bit heavy, but I prefer it this way.

NOW: the vertical pipe is thicker than 3/4″, which makes ALL the attachments I wanted to add to this great piece, worthless….

All the attachments Amazon recommends when buying it, don’t fit. You either have to file the lip of the mounted piece to widen the opening to grip the vertical pipe (stand) or return the item. I’ve decided to file the pieces because I can use them when on site.

    Do I recommend it? Absolutely!

Would I buy it again? Not sure…. I’d make sure the vertical pipe is 3/4″ thick (max) to allow attachment.

If you don’t need to add anything to this sturdy stand, then go for it.

I was looking for a sturdy stand to hold my laptop next to my drums. The stand I really wanted was like $199. But that was for a professional drummer, surely not me, Harry Hobby the Drummer. I do wish that the top was a little wider but it’s fine. Not that my 13″ laptop doesn’t allow for alot of room on each side, it does. I have a CD player I hook up to my laptop (since my laptop doesn’t have a CD drive, damn you apple!), but there is not enough room to put the CD drive on the tray (next to the laptop). Instead I have a small accent table to the left of the stand and it fits my needs nicely. Back to the stand. Its sturdy. It raises in height, far too high than my needs. The tray swivels. I keep it at the lowest setting. The handle you use to make this guy go higher or lower is perfect to hold my headphones. And the price? well, way better than $199 for a stand made just for drummers. Oh, I also used this to hold my laptop when giving a presentation at an event. It worked fine. My one and only complaint is the felt material, or whatever it is on the top of the stand, can get rather dirty just from dust. It doesn’t clean as easily as I wish, but again, I don’t lose any sleep over it.

Every once in a while you get a lemon. I guess it was my turn as the unit I received had been previously used, damaged, and returned. I wasn’t sure why Amazon would resell it as “new” without even inspecting it. Nevertheless, I decided to keep the item without returning it for the following reasons. First of all, it’s metal and with a little effort, I was able to straighten the cockeyed top back into alignment. Second, the worn and chipped paint and torn rubber were just cosmetic.

As for the unit itself, it is very sturdy and very well made. I keep a fairly heave case on it and it would really take some effort to knock it over. It is really well balanced and durable. I am really pleased with the performance and didn’t want to wait a week or so for the replacement so that’s why I decided to keep it as is.

I just received this minutes ago and although it seems like a very solid product, the box came pre-opened, damaged, with a sticker on it saying “Amazon Inspected”. I put it together but as you can see in the picture, it’s bent. It’s very annoying to look at and I don’t feel I should pay full price. Instead of shipping it back, I would be willing to take a 75% refund/discount and I will try and bend it back myself. Hopefully Amazon or the manufacturer reads these things. Other than that, the product is solid. I will wait for a response.

I use this stand to hold my Maschine Mk3 next to a keyboard, where it holds the unit securely and without any hint of wobble. The legs are wide and lock into place securely with the clamp. The flat section of the stand is also very strong with no flex and when locked, the angle remains secure.

While not shown in the product picture, on the one I received, there is foam padding all along the edges and two wide foam strips on the top of the flat top as well, which should prevent any scratches to any equipment placed on top.
