So to all those folks who use gas powered lawn tools, this isn’t for you. I have a relatively small yard (front and back) and the time it takes me to MOW both is about 30 mins (or less). I spend even less time trimming. However, I trim my hard because I hate the look of grass growing over onto the concrete. With this trimmer, it’s sooo easy to do this with. What impressed me was that this is actually a lot more powerful than I thought it was going to be. I’ve been used a black and decker 18v trimmer for the last 9 years and I think it’s on it’s last leg. It no longer spools properly and the battery charging is so annoying. I thought I’d try this trimmer out since it’s corded and I don’t need to deal with batteries anymore. I didn’t realize how much more powerful it would be. My only gripe about this product is the manual spool feeder. My older 18V had an auto feeder but I’m not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. Perhaps the auto spooler was wasting string? Anyways, having to press the feed button is a little annoying but I guess this is first world problems. It’s not like it’s hard to do, you just have to pay more attention at seeing how deep the string is cutting. After that, it’s just pressing a button.

All in all, I’m very happy with this purchase at such a low price. Hopefully it will last me another 9 years like my 18V.

I am disabled and need something light weight, but powerful to last through no only the duration I run the motor, but strong enough to cut down thick weeds and berry bushes. I beat the hell out of my equipment. This is my second, only because I lent mine out last year and it back broken. It was 6 years old, never repaired, never even cleaned. I was so impressed with my first, that I bought this second. I did tried buy a product inbetween. It was almost a toy compared to this, plus a whole lot less comfortable. It couldn’t stand up to my forms of abuse on tool. This was an open box, returned, or refirbish to get it for the price I did. It is a wonderful product. Light weight, powerful, able to take my punishing ways. To me the difference between gas and electric is huge. Gas is much more noisey, dealing with the proper gas and additive, in those ones that need the additive, and having the issues with getting gas (pull back the nozzle, then either deal with gas smell all the way home, or deal with diaper wipes. Then shlep it home, then the hassle of filling the weed wacker multiple times a session. Plus, the fumes get to me. I have found corded electric is usually much more lightweight and balanced than battery operated. Plus the hassle of charging the batteries, having to get more batteries on top of the usually much higher prices than corded. I would much rather deal with the cord, which once you get used to using corded, it is rarely an issue. When looking at corded machines, they, usually, have a lower original price tag than gas or battery powered, being usually much quieter than a gas powered machine, they are just as powerful, if not more so, than some gas and battery operated machines, and putting out for a 100′ heavy duty outdoor electrical extention cord, 100′ usually is long enough to deal with most yards, which I can also used with other things, like an electric mower, (why yes, I do own one, and it’s B & D) Christmas lights in the winter, and your pool in the summer, if your lucky enough to own one, plus, ect… I personally think that corded electric wins hands down. I think this weed wacker is a good investment, but that is up for you to decide.

The description says that the Easy Feed button “allows you to Advance your line with the push of a button”.

Not really !! From the description I assumed that the button actually caused the string to advance.

After this trimmer was delivered I discovered that all that the button does is turn the power off while the button pressed, and allows the AFS (auto feed system) to let out a bit more string. I.e. momentarily pressing the button does EXACTLY the same thing as momentarily releasing the run trigger. As a matter of fact releasing the trigger momentarily is easier and less awkward.

So the button adds no additional feature but they charge an additional $57 for the “do nothing” button when compared to the identical trimmer without the button.

When I discovered this I decided to return it and get the less expensive and basically identical model. I requested to return the trimmer twice and the message from the vendor said that they would advise within 48 hours how to return. They didn’t !! Both times they simply cancelled the return request.

I hate being ripped off but it looks like they have done that to me and I’m stuck with it.

Don’t make the same mistake. Buy the lower priced model or buy from someone else.

I love this thing. I have never had a problem with the handle collapsing on me and I have used it a lot since I bought it in May. I have a little farm with alot of yard and alot of places you can’t mow with a tractor or a lawn mower which I have both. This summer has brought on alot of thick lush weeds from the humidity and the rain and this thing goes through them like a gas weedeater. And never once did I have a problem with this handle. I am 71 years young and I work hard and so does this trimmer. I have alot of rocks and stones and sure I use alot of string but that’s why I buy the economy string from Amazon. Don’t be afraid to buy this. I actually have 300 hundred feet of electric cord and I use it . Goes to show you how much I use this weedeater. I has more get up and go than it looks… The string feeder works great
