Overall, it does what it claims. A few notes,
1- the trimmer sometimes comes off of the base while mowing the lawn. Not a big deal. In general, however it is worth mentioning.
2- you use cord like crazy! I ordered a replacement 3-pack and boy I am glad I did. I’ve used two of the replacements and the one that came with the trimmer just to do the back yard which is about .25 acre.
3- sometimes the cord gets jammed and doesn’t release as it should. Again, this is not the biggest of deals since anyone that has used a trimmer has had to deal with tangled cord at some point.
Overall, it’s a great 3 in 1 tool and does exactly as it advertises.

Ok, the B+D BESTA seemed like a great idea for a ~250sqft small yard (compact and multi-functioned), HOWEVER, it’s inherently flawed:
1) The retention system (clasp) for the trimmer to the “planner” is super cheap and completely under strength, meaning that the trimmer will disengage from the base with little or no effort … it just doesn’t hold. Secondly, the two trimming levels it provides are super short or super long …
2) Next … let’s talk about rust … wow does this rust … for something made predominantly of plastic, the few steel components are … well … obviously not coated with anything … no zink, no varnish, nothing but rust. Even a dry lawn will have some moisture.
3) Noise … this is loud … like you might as well buy a gas mower, because the neighbor’s electric mower is virtually silent, while this thing can be heard two houses over.
4) Cleaning … forget about it … you just can’t get into the crevices … and lastly, it’s just not sturdy.
*coming from a Mechanical Engineer … who was offered a job with B+D straight out of university … shaking my head.
I would return this in a heartbeat if it didn’t sit in a box past the deadline …

I have a small yard and I borrowed this LITTLE lawn mower from a friend. I loved it so much I ordered one for myself. It is perfect for my needs, and it has EVERYTHING I need. Mower, weed eater and edger. I highly recommend this if you don’t have a large area to mow. Even if you do, it works beautifully !!!

I assumed it was going to be sturdy because of it’s “Black and Decker” brand name, but this is basically a children’s toy. If you buy it, you better hope you don’t have ANY turns or twist in your yard, or it will pop out of place. If your neighbors aren’t laughing at you yet, they will now (maybe get your little sister to cut your grass). If you wanted a 25 minute job to take two hours, however, then this is definitely the right gift for you. Oh, and as a bonus, it doesn’t fit a standard electric cord, so make sure you find a two prong one (doesn’t fit the amazon basics 100ft cord). It does work though, but it’s closer to a 10in radius. I am not returning it, however, because my son can use it when he turns 4.

after a few “not so great” amazon products, this one was a HUGE score. Even if it broke tomorrow I got my money’s worth not being aggravated waiting for the no-show gardener. I was full of energy after I finished unlike doing this same thing with my weedwacker and doing an ugly job, and its heavy. THIS WAS SO LIGHT, easy and quick. I didn’t have to put on the body armor I usually do with the weedwacker, i did this in my shorts and sandals. My neighbor had this and I liked what I saw. He has his for almost a year and he loves it. I read reviews on my of these types of products and it scared me. I bought this one after the neighbor said he hasn’t replaced the wire and it has held up. I am not even waiting to get the Amazon review request. This was an AMAZING purchase. I’m happy. My lawn looks pretty. The edger was easy to snap off and edged like a dream (unlike my weed wacker. Screw my no-show gardener. I was a naggy wife for YEARS. No more nagging. I am in control!!!! P.S. the only thing I didn’t like were the horribly assembled instructions. Wow, really? Black & Decker should be ashamed of that. I couldn’t read them and they weren’t helpful. I finally decided to wing it. It took 45 minutes to get frustrated and 5 minutes to throw out the instructions and assemble. If they were smart – they would have made a youtube video showing a few steps – attaching the handle to the guard, inserting it into the base, attaching the handle and sliding up the handle to adjust for height. It said something about removing the cutting guard (I don’t think I had one). Turned it on and went! I am 62 years young and just had spine surgery and this felt very liberating!

I am so glad the negative ratings didn’t deter me from buying this lawnmower 3n1. It packs a great punch for its size. I lawned my backyard lawn and trimmed edges with one of its 3 features in 10 minutes. This is perfect for me it’s so light and easy to hose down after use. Yes the middle did get loose once while using but that because I had tall grass and it all accumulated underneath the blade cover, once you clean it out it stays in place.

It works well for a small lawn (like less than 200 sq ft). Don’t try to mow like you normally would, since it is hard to do a straight line as it does miss some blades. It worked best when I used it much like you would a vacuum instead of methodically like a lawnmower.

My front yard drops down a steep 6′ slope to the sidewalk and off the side down to the driveway. A lawnmower was out of the question, and it was very rough on my back and shoulders trying to wrangle a weedeater to mow the entire thing. This little contraption does the trick. It’s so lightweight and easy to roll up the slope, keeping the trimmer height even for a clean cut. It’s efficient enough that I don’t have to bother firing up the regular mower to finish off what little flat area I have. Takes a few minutes more than it would with the regular mower, but it’s so quiet, light weight, easy to manage, with no worries about fuel, oil, air filters, etc…I opted for the corded electric version rather than the battery powered, so there’s no issue with finishing the whole yard in one shot, mowing and edging. The roller carriage pops on and off easily for the conversion. Someone with a larger mowing area might prefer a different solution but it works very well for my situation. My only complaint is the limited height adjustment. It would be nice if it could go a couple inches taller.

If you are looking for a perfect lawn mowing machine, then this is a 2-star. But what you are actually buying is the trimmer and you are only adding $30-$40 for the base (to avoid buying an actual gas lawnmower). The trimmer is great and powerful. For a small lawn, and if you are not a hardcore grass trimmer, you just wanna get rid of tall grass and weeds, this is awesome and fast! I gave it 3-star because the trimmer does come off easily from the base, which can be VERY DANGEROUS! Feedback for Black and Decker! or I received a faulty one, as I noticed there is ONE SPRING for the lock, I am guessing it has 2. Please check y’all.

This is nice and compact, easy to use right out of the box, great 3-1 feature for multi use! Worked great in my Yard. If you have a really big yard, it might be a little exhausting, but it gets the job done!

Works pretty well, and it was very easy to put together. I like having the 3 in 1 feature, as it’s incredibly easy to switch from one to the other as you go. And, it’s lightweight.
However, when cutting grass with the mower base, you have to empty the bottom for what gets stuck underneath every so often, because the weed cutter will pop out of the mower base, which is dangerous. I think the clip could have been designed better.
But once I did start emptying it every once in a while (nothing too difficult, just lightly banged it on the grass a few times to dislodge the buildup every now and then), I had very few issues the next time I used it.

I live in an area where “lawns” are rock. I put in a small patch of grass between my back door and patio to accommodate two new fur babies I acquired. The area was too small for a regular mower. A rotary wouldn’t work because it was Bermuda grass. So I tried this. It is great! I was gone for a little over a week and my grass, coming out of dormancy, just went nuts. When I got home I unboxed my B&D mower and went to work. It made short work of the mowing. With a touch of my toe the weed eater was released from the mower deck and I could trim around flower beds and sidewalk. It is lightweight so easy to carry to the garage. Super simple to assemble. I’m a 67-year-old widow who put this thing together and mowed my green area with it. So easy. I wouldn’t want to mow a large lawn with it, but if you have a small area, this works like a champ and leaves the lawn looking finished and clean. So glad I bought it.
