Yeah, right off the bat…for anyone complaining about noise, you guys haven’t heard what REAL noise.

I was in China for 12 years or so, and during that time, I bought a nice metal fan. That thing….when it took off, literally sounded like a jet engine. I had to weigh it down with “pad weights” that people use in yoga or whatever to wrap around their wrists/anlkles, just to keep it in place. So yeah, this is not loud at all.

I have been searching for a low cost way to keep cool for the longest time since I came back to Canada, and I finally found it. Im in a place where there is no air con, so I have been dying. Had this thing on for a few minutes…and Im good already.

This is not a paid review, but if the manufacturer wants to send me some good good, I will take and place another one near me. lol I literally live in a place big enough to put a mid sized bed, beer fridge, and dresser, and I will still make room for another. 😉

Anyways, 10 out of 10 from me.

Wow . . . . this thing BLOWS! 😉 I mean, it really blows! Put it together in 2 seconds, needs no instructions . . . simple and effective! Some people complain about the noise, not that bad . . . but then I like white noise.

    Recommend.

I have never paid quite this much for a fan, but I would make this purchase again in a heartbeat. The shape is stable; we had a squarish box fan that got knocked over all the time, made a terrible racket. There’s a carry handle for when you have to move it from one room to another, but it’s a big fan, meant–as the name indicates–to sit on the floor and pretty much stay there. If you want a little desk thing you can regularly take from room to room, this isn’t it. This is the workhorse you want on a miserable hot day with the air conditioning off, or no air conditioning–as is often the case here in Seattle, where few homes have central air and a few more have a window unit that doesn’t cool the whole house. It’s the sort of fan that kids will fight to be in front of until a parent or grandparent comes in and barks at them to all go siddown. And it’s the sort of fan that a woman that hates heat like grim death wants when her husband moans that he is cold if she turns the window unit on. For goodness sake, it’s 85 degrees out there! It’s a sauna in here, and we can’t use the a/c? The hell you say. No, fine. It’s fine. I’ll turn on the fan. No, I am NOT turning the fan off at bedtime!

People comment on the noise level. It’s about the same as having the fan over the stove running. Will it interfere with your TV show? Quite possibly. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but if I had to choose comfort or entertainment, I would choose comfort. Turn the TV off and the fan on. You can still have a conversation with others as long as nobody mumbles.

There are three fans in this house, not counting the oscillating fan on a skinny, unstable stand that was broken right away by a resident teenager. The other two that remain are a weak little thing that sits tidily on a desk top, and another big floor fan similar to this one but made of white plastic (and apparently no longer being sold.) If I had to pick just one of them to keep, it would be this one. But also, I have reasonably large rooms in my house.. If I were in a very small apartment, I might rethink it. Look at the measurements on the specifications here before you make the purchase if you aren’t sure a big ol’ fan like this one can go in the room where you want it.

Fan is a beast! Moves air like a whirlwind on hot days or when I need to simply cool/dry off from a work out rather quickly. I also use this fan as white noise when I leave the house so my dogs don’t bark at every noise they hear outside. Does a fantastic job for that and it feels very heavy duty as well. The quality is very terrific! Extremely happy with it and very much recommend. And yes it’s loud because it’s supposed to be. Don’t buy if you want to watch a quiet TV show with it running, that’s not what this is for. Buy a cheapo light duty fan from Target for that. And the loudness is the sound of heavy air movement, nothing annoying or squeaky. Great for sleeping to if you like big time white noise. It’s great for drowning out sounds from outside or wherever annoying sounds may be in your specific scenario.

We bought two originally loved them so much bought two more. Moves a lot of air and it’s cold air. Way better than any fan I’ve owned. It’s a light wind sound. About like a regular fan. Even bought one to put on covered porch for my 3 Great Pyrenees dogs❤️

Fan prop is made of THIN aluminum which is warped out of the box and can warp more, why does this matter? Well, for starters it leads to an unbalanced prop that causes uneven baring wear and premature failure. Secondly, the unbalanced prop also lead to regular intervals of a terribly annoying and loud humming sound. Thirdly, this also produced a terrible burning smell which triggered my asthma repeatedly, after a month it didn’t go away.

I contacted Lasko for a replacement, I was required to cut the controller and power cord and ship it at my expense to their warranty division, I haven’t tried to recoup 8 dollars for that as of yet as per their warranty instructions on their website… They were very helpful over the phone, unfortunately however the replacement I received NOT ONLY had a gouge/dent on the outer area of the fan blade, but it was missing a screw! The only improvement is that it hums less frequently and isn’t smoking me out, this will still lead to a premature bearing failure due to uneven wear, I am 100% unsatisfied and will not be buying another aluminum/steel fan from Lasko. Why is this important you ask? Because it’s very clear to me, especially given that I cannot find a quality assurance sticker on either box nor fan, that there is little to no quality assurance.

I was a fan of the 2250QM 8 years ago, but I suspect any remaining stock of that older model was changed to accommodate the substandard wafer thin fan prop. I have used HVF for years in my residence as I prefer the white noise and the air movement, so I can tell quite easily that this fan will not last and either due to incompetence or by design will fail prematurely. One is a fluke, two, especially with a glaringly obvious gouge in the prop is incompetence and only underlines not only poor quality materials but no quality control at all. (The replacement came from LASKO not amazon, so it is not restricted to the sellers stock here.)

This is a tragedy, this entire issue could have been avoided if not for some greedy executive opting into using substandard material on the prop of all things which I have never seen and for good reason. If someone at Lasko reads this, I hope it was worth saving short term cost, because you’re going to be experiencing a high RTM from sellers and or customers and comping replacements and shipping fees. I find it shocking that I am the only second reviewer to complain of this hum, I presume people are leaving these in their garages or something and not sitting in the same room for extended periods of time. To reiterate, I have owned several HVF in my lifetime, these are atypical sounds and symptoms.

Well, it is indeed a very powerful fan. It kept my room fairly cool despite my window being closed.

However, it’s just WAY too loud even at its lowest setting. I honestly don’t know how people can sleep through the noise. It’s definitely quieter than the other high velocity floor fans I’ve tried, but it’s still way too loud in any case.

I’m kind of iffy about the metal blade, the edges are SO sharp. They didn’t even sand it down or anything. It made me feel very uneasy and paranoid. Freak accidents do happen, you know… and with this being a powerful fan… oh my goodness. Scary.

Just like what another reviewer said, it made a very strange high-pitched sound that also made me question the fan’s durability. I tried loosening and tightening the screw that held the fan blade. Doing so didn’t make much of a difference, unfortunately.

If that wasn’t bad enough, it also gave off a very strange burning smell; the odor’s as if it was mixed with sweat, iron, oil/machine lubricant, and rust. It smelled fairly awful, unpleasant, and off-putting. I’m going to return this fan, of course. I had high hopes for it, but I’m severely disappointed.

And… Its is… But it lets you know because it sounds like a damn WW2 German fighter plane! Its should say “Messerschmitt” because it sounds like one.
