So much fun! I live in New England and my grandchildren live in Virginia so it can be hard to stay connected. My 4 year old grandson and I love playing on the Glow together. We have for many years used FaceTime to spend time together but the Glow has really given us something to do together. He is able, after several coaching sessions with his mom and dad by his side, to operate the Glow almost completely independently. There are a few games that are still above his level but we find plenty to do together now and knowing that there will be activities for him to grow into is exciting. His 2 year old brother can join in from time to time but two years old is young to use it alone without getting frustrated. I have really been surprised by how well the Glow responds and how many activities there are already that we really enjoy. It is a great way to spend one on one time with him and even when I visit him we play together with the Glow.
The most frustrating feature is reading a book together, they really need to improve on page turning ability. If we use the feature that allows us to turn the page with arrows it removes the picture from the book when the bubble pops up with the words or if we try to turn the page with the finger method, that is suppose to give the feeling of turning a real page, it just doesn’t work and gets very frustrating.
It would also be nice if they put in some more features that would give the adult on the tablet side the ability to override what the child has to do, while younger children are learning the Glow.

My kids play with the device periodically. It shines when there are others like grand parents who are far away and who are willing to make virtual play dates. Otherwise, the device can go unused for weeks at a time. It’s nice to have, but my kids play on their tablets 10x more.

I love playing with my granddaughter on the Glow! It’s just like a visit. She’s only an hour away but I really miss seeing her and this really takes care of that for me. I love playing with her and I get the satisfaction of a visit without the drive. She’s only 3 so some of the games are too hard for her right now but we have a great time. I love it!

Amazing new tool to interact with our grandkids when they are not with us. We can read books, play games while learning. I highly recommend purchasing one for your grandkids. They can call you on this device and you know they are thinking of you or vice versa. We have it linked to our cell phone and to a kindle. The larger kindle makes it more fun to see the kids. The kids can see us from this device.

We love our glow. My kids use it all the time. When I have to travel for work, I am able to play with my kids nightly using the iPhone app on my phone. We loved the glow so much, I bought an additional one for my niece so my kids could play with their cousin. I was VERY disappointed to learn that they cannot play each other. One person has to be using a glow and the other needs to be using the app on a different device. You can not make calls from one Glow to another Glow. I can’t express how disappointed I was and how disappointed my kids are.

The Glow gives younger children the ability to chat with family members while having something that keeps them engaged. Previous phone and video calls were hard because the children weren’t interested in conversations. This provides a way to engage with them in a way that interests them. The device has a camera/touchscreen set up with a mat for the child and a phone app for the person being called. The person on the other end does not need to purchase anything to set up the device on their end.
The device has several books and games and is constantly updating the content options. It’s really easy to use. A touchscreen allows kids to call the people on the approved list with minimal help. This is both a good thing and a bad one, as the kids can independently make calls without parental involvement.
The mat is very sensitive. If you have a child that likes to lie on the table when doing things, be sure to have the mat far enough away that they don’t lie on it. Lying on the mat gives it too many inputs at once, causing the device to freeze up. It then has to be rebooted, and the person has to be called again.
The phone app is simple once it’s set up. Set up requires several steps that are complicated. We’ve only been able to get one person successfully set up with the app to talk with our child. On the upside, you know that whoever is chatting with the child is approved by the parent because no one will go through the headache of setting this thing up without a good reason to contact that specific child.

We bought this as a Christmas present for our eldest son who just turned 5. Turns out both our boys, 3 and 5, absolutely love it. They love playing the different games and finding the new ones when they become available. The touch pad is extremely cool and makes the connection of “hands on” that much more realistic. They also love being able to connect with me and their mom via our phones to play games while we aren’t home with them. All in all it’s a fantastic device and definitely worth the investment.
